So I wanted to wait until I had visited this place a few times before I left a review. The reason for that is because I've found that with many Thai restaurants they may excel in one dish (such as Pad Thai) but then struggle with others (such as curry...or vice versa). At this point in time I have eaten here 4 times and not by choice. I happen to have a good friend that enjoys this place and well I enjoy his company. As for the food, it's mediocre. Not good enough for me to ever want to eat here on my own volition, and not bad enough for me to make a big stink when my friend wants to eat there. I've tried their Pad Thai, multiple curry dishes, multiple fried rice dishes and rice plates. Today I had their "Mixed vegetables lunch entree" - which consists of: Napa, carrot, broccoli, bean sprouts, scallion and pepper on top of rice. There was some flavor to it but it was kinda bland - like all their other meals I've tried. I feel like I'm always asking them for chili sauce on the side to give their meals more oomph. I don't wanna give my meals more oomph. They should already be pre-oomph'd! The other issue I have is the ambiance. It's nothing special, is dim and sometimes even smells a bit strange. As for the service, they're usually pretty nice and friendly (if you get the young guy) but there's only ever one waiter during lunch hour. It takes forever to get your check and pay for your meal. If you're looking for Thai in Albany I prefer Sweet Basil. If you're in Troy try Choms. This place isn't terrible but could definitely be better. read more

This is my favorite spot in Albany. If you are even remotely into Thai food this spot is worth a visit. Everything is priced fairly. Especially the drinks which are at a very nice price range. The food is incredibly tasty. The duck is worth the extra money, very tender and delicious. If you really like spice, request the curry extra spicy. It's intense but well worth it. I'd recommend the musman curry and the green tea ice cream. Inner decor isn't anything to write home about and small, but the kitchen is excellent. read more

I'm going to get to it. Me and my friends wanted to get something good to eat so we decided to go here. I had the Chicken and Shrimp Pad Thai which was amazing but next time I will ask for no tofu. My friend has Chicken Pineapple Curry which he said was amazing. Here's the deal you get great food here for little money my dinner was huge and I only paid $10 . If you don't like tofu as for no tofu cause I think tofu taste like wet chalk but I forgot to ask for none, and my meal was piled high with tofu. The place is very small can get really loud. Great Thai place in a great spot of Albany. They've worked so well with the little space they have and even better, they have AMAZING food!

On the high end of one $, but it really depends on what you get. I always get Thai tea and wanted to get the bubble tea but they ran out of the bubbles! ;) they're called boba... Anyways I'm excited for the food, it's Friday night so they are pretty busy and it's been a while (our local Thai place is super quick) but I can wait for good food :) The food finally got to us after 45 minutes of waiting in a small restaurant that instantly froze every time someone came and went with their to-go order. The food was good, my local place has stronger flavors and larger Thai tea. So I wasn't blown away but I would still recommend this place, but it'd probably be a better experience on a slower night. read more

Just 3 things I want to mention for this review, probably all that you would need to take in considerations, I hope. Let's keep it concise: First thing is that it might not have the best dining environment, it is located underground. But they have tables on the street if you would like to dine on a nice day out. Secondly, the price for the foods is very cheap. Probably one of the cheapest places for Thai food in the area. Last but not least, although the pricing of the foods is cheap, the quality of the food is quite decent. We're not in northern Virginia but still on the east coast, so this gets five stars. This is exceptional Thai outside of an area with a significant asian population. The green curry is great, especially if you ask for it thai spicy. The basil chicken is also good, when asked for spicy. I like the samosa, but I love the tom yum chicken soup even move, and think it makes a sufficient meal. I have had good, spicy, hot food every time I have ordered out. I've also had fairly good service whenever I've eaten in the restaurant. I'm pleased. read more

Tried to order in one afternoon after reading great reviews and found that they do not deliver. So I placed my order of Pork Pad See Ew and Pineapple Curry Duck and went to pick it up. When I went to pick it up, turns out there was a misunderstanding and the waitress thought I ordered "Four" Pad See Ew, not "Pork" Pad See Ew. Okay, simple enough, but I hate it when restaurants try to blame the customer for their mistake. According to the PDF menu on their website, my order should have come out to be roughly $17 but when I got there, the lady told me it was $23. Why? Because they add $2 more to all orders on Sundays. What? Why wasn't I informed of this over the phone? And then another lady came out and tried to tell me that they had raised their prices. Okay, so again, why wasn't I informed? And she refused to show me a receipt. The Pad See Ew was dry (how do you dry out noodles??) but the duck was good. I've had better but it wasn't too bad considering I'm in Albany. But I'm so disappointed w/ the service that I will not return. read more

Poor attempt at authentic Thai food. I got the chicken pad see ew, which was a lot chewier and 'al dente' than it should have been. The sauce was blander than expected. Hey, I've been to Thailand, and the worst street food there is better than this stuff. I was surprised at how poor the quality of the food was considering how full of people it always is. I guess it just goes to show how Albany lacks good options.. The pricing was okay - although for that amount of money, I'd probably get a couple slices of cheese, Chinese take-out across the street, or spend a couple of extra bucks to try Kinnaree across the street. I really like this place. The pad thai was decent and not overpriced. However, it is a lot better if you actually eat it in the restaurant. I got takeout once, and it was just not very good. My friend got the pad se ewe, which is my favorite thai noodle dish. I was very happy to see that they use authentic flat noodles, as opposed to other restaurants that use something similar to chow fun. Again, it's one of those places that's close, convenient, and "good enough." I haven't explored others in the area, but I've eaten a lot of thai. This is better than the places I frequented when I was at Syracuse. Edit: either I messed up or Sukho changed. They do not use the correct pad se ewe noodle. I can't rate the food. as soon as we walked in it I could smell something. After we sat I could tell it was a combination of bathroom, cleaner, and other odors. It didn't smack in the face, but it was there. As food was coming out of the always visible kitchen (not appealing either), I said to my partner I can't do it. He said we could sit somewhere else, but I just couldn't get the idea or smell out of my mind and I know I wouldn't enjoy the food. I also didn't like the boxes of beer siting around. He said I should have told them, but I am a chicken shit, and I shouldn't have to be put in that situation, anyone coming in could smell that. Crispy not too oily thank God but lacked flavor. The Thai tea with bubbles was horrible really. We also ordered a beef salad and it was nothing worth mentioning. I've definitely eaten better. I love me some good Thai and this place delivers. It definitely feels a like a hidden gem when you walk in there. From it's location, tucked away in a basement next to Bomber's, to it's delic variety of rices, soups, curries, and awesome Thai coffee, you can't beat it. As previously mentioned, the Pad Thai is fanta-bulous! If you eat-in, the servers are super knoweldegeabe and the whole experience is very low key/mellow.
