Sukh was an outstanding experience all around. We started off strong with Hor Mok, which was a new dish to the both of us, based on a Thai friend's recommendation. The custard is rich and creamy, and there's an immediate spice kick that quickly subsides. Based on the waitress recommendation we also shared the Ma Praw Kua Gluer (young coconut). The scallion here really complemented the coconut really well, and the fried garlic was such a nice salty addition. For our main entree we shared the Kea Mao with chicken. I wished we had been a bit more adventurous but next time! Drunken Noodles are always a banger so I really loved this dish. Lastly we caved and got a dessert, and got the taro custard and wow it was so silky, creamy, savory, and sweet. I loved this dessert. It also came with a scoop of coconut ice cream and it was the perfect way to end the meal. I'd definitely recommend Sukh to anyone for a lot of their Northern Thai dishes! read more

Look, the food is good and the ambiance is super chill and warm... that is up until it got closer to closing. Our original waitress left early, and her replacement essentially rushed us out of the restaurant, trying to remove plates before we were even finished eating without actually telling us that we needed to wrap it up. Meanwhile, there were at least 4 other tables and nobody was rushing them to finish. By all means, go here because the food is good, but unfortunately I left feeling very unwelcomed, rushed, and dare I say slightly targeted considering it felt like we were being treated differently than the other patrons. Service was great from beginning to end and the ambiance incorporated many authentic Thai themed designs that gives you a glimpse of what Thailand looks like! We ordered the short rib, three types of crab infused fried rice, and the Japanese botan ebi appetizer, all of which were from their summer menu. The botan ebi was rich, spicy, and tangy with authentic Thai spices! It was refreshing and paired perfectly with the fried botan ebi heads to provide a flavor bomb with its sharp contrast in texture between the crisp of the botan ebi head and the softness of the raw botan ebi! Highly recommend! The three types of crab infused fried rice was also very flavorful with the tangy, sweet, and spicy sauce that paired beautifully with it. My only recommendation is to potentially add crab butter/innards to elevate the fried rice even more, which can enhance the umami by a hundredfold! Without the sauce, the fried rice was quite plain and underwhelming, but to each their own! The short rib was so incredibly rich and tender, where the meat just fell off the bone! Although it only came with two pieces, it was quite filling nonetheless. The only minor issue was that part of one of the pieces of short rib was burnt and was hard and bitter as a result, so I hope they can monitor it a bit more diligently to ensure they don't get burnt in the hours-long cooking process! I got the Larb nurh which is basically minced pork with blackberry rice and chicharron. It's actually pretty spicy and I really like spicy. Tbh, the blackberry rice I thought would taste like blackberry and it didn't so I was a bit disappointed with that. So the dish comes with all these greens and I realized that they are meant to come together to form a lettuce wrap. At first, I was just eating the rice with the minced pork and snacking on the chicharron. When you turn it into a lettuce wrap, it was way more elegant The dish is spicy, flavorful, aromatic, and spicy again I forgot the name of the appetizer but it's not bad. I've been meaning to try Sukh for a while and it was well worth the wait. Hailed by my entire group as their best Thai restaurant, Sukh feels quite authentic in terms of flavor and spice levels. We tried multiple dishes and each one was extremely flavorful and unique. I've driven by this place many times and I thought it looked so nice and was curious how the food would be. A few friends recommended I try it and raved about how good the food was so I finally gave it a try, and it did not disappoint. I'll start with the customer service - all of the staff members were so friendly from the moment you stepped in the front of the door. We didn't have a reservation, but they were able to quickly accommodate us with outside seating and as soon as they had something inside, they offered to move us. The waitress was so friendly and she was well versed on all of the gluten-free options and even talked us through some of her favorites. I went with the Pad Thai and it was so delicious. I opted for the shrimp instead of the chicken and it came with so much shrimp. My friends got a few other dishes and all of us had huge portions and we're 100% satisfied. We also ordered a bottle of the orange wine and it was very smooth and at an affordable price. It was a relaxed environment and they have enough seating so that you don't feel like you're on top of people. The restaurant is also beautifully decorated and has a great playlist running in the background. Thai restaurants are a dime a dozen these days, each hawking a supposed "specialty" dish that is unique and a "must get". Off the bat I was a bit put off by the fact that the server continued to try to suggest dishes after we finished ordering, unprompted. Maybe she felt like we didn't order enough, meanwhile we had ordered 5 entrees for 5 people. It felt awkward that she would suggest the Branzino after we said no, nothing else, and then suggested appetizers and we had to say no again. The food arrived quite quickly - my favorite was the crab fried rice ($30) which (knock on wood) is difficult to mess up! They definitely display the crab pieces on top, with very few pieces within the rice. The pad see ew with shrimp ($22) was a bit small but tasty, again, difficult to mess up. My brother liked the Sukh Pad Thai which was again good but the portion is a crime for the price ($27). I make a point to try the khao soi ($26) at Thai restaurants and while this one was good, there wasn't much to it. It was a tad spicy and the curry was goodbut there was barely any noodles. The ped toon is a braised duck dish that was way way too fatty. ($30) They blanched the greens but overall the duck just was too fatty. Overall it's a decent place that is overhyped on social media. It's good but expensive for the portion. The decor is cute - with a train theme but again nothing super special, a bit cramped honestly. There's a 5% cash discount but it was a bit awkward because they didn't bring back any change when my dad gave them the cash. They also do auto gratuity of 20% on large parties, which restaurants don't really disclose, maybe they thought we were tipping extra. Service was pretty mediocre generally speaking - they seemed hesitant to bring containers for leftovers. Probably won't be back. read more

We visited here on a Friday night and had a reservation for 8.30. When we arrived our table wasn't ready and we were told that we had to wait outside, and where then left waiting for 20 minutes (and it was pretty cold). Although it's a good sign that the restaurant food must be good to be that busy it did put a bit of a dampener on the start of our experience at Sukh. Once we finally got seated though the decor and atmosphere of the restaurant was lovely, and the food we saw coming out looked and smelt amazing. We ordered the Hor Mok, curry samosas and fried crab rolls (Hoi Jor Poo) to start. All the dishes were delicious but the Hor Mok was the standout dish, really different and tasty (a must order). For mains we ordered Kang Keaw Wan, Khao Pad Rod Fai and the Ped Toon. We had also ordered another dish but this didn't arrive (we didn't realise initially so didn't mention it). All of the dishes were great but the Ped Toon (a duck dish) was the standout for us, would definitely have this again if we revisited the restaurant. Between 4, with us all having a couple of alcoholic drinks, the bill came to c$360 (including tax and tip). Not cheap but we felt for the quality of food it was fairly priced. Amazing gem! I came around 630pm on a Tuesday without a reservation thinking it wouldn't be needed because there were reservation time slots online. However, this place filled up so fast after we got lucky and seated at the counter without a reservation. People were waiting outside for a table. The decor and ambiance of the place was lovely. It felt very homey and themed like you were in a train car. I loved how the menu had dishes id never tried before. We got the Hor Mok, Gor Gluay, Pla Tod Samun Prai and a coconut milk taro ball dessert. The Hor Mok (4/5) was pretty good but not super mind blowing. It was a nice option if you want to try a curry as an appetizer. I really liked the Gor Gluay (5/5) and the texture of the pancakes and the wontons. Never had this before so it was a nice experience! Highly recommend making reservations before you come here - we got here at 12 pm - right when they opened and they already had 2 or 3 parties ahead of us. By the time we got seated and ordered our food, the place had started filing up and by the time we got our food - the place was packed to the brim! The Hor Mok was such a unique dish - I've never seen this dish anywhere! It was a little bit on the spicier side, so if you cannot handle spice, beware - otherwise it was yummy! The Gor Gluay was also very good - this was one of the non-spicy dishes that we ordered and it was very much needed! My personal favorite was the Khao Hor Bai Bua, their signature fried rice - this dish was SO flavorful and delicious. You MUST try this!! We also got the Koong Chae, a spicy but also refreshing dish. If you're there for their summer special, you MUST try the Gaeng Hung Lay Nuar - the meat on these ribs just fell right off the bone - it was so packed full of flavor and juicy! I was here recently with my friends for a bday celebration. We had reservations for early dinner and the place was empty when we arrived but it sure filled up fast. Our waitstaff gave us a review on the menu and also guided us on what to order. Most of the items we got were Spicy except the Branzino. But it was all delicious. The short ribs could have been a bit softer but it was bathed in a delicious curry sauce. Honestly everything had a different flavor profile. I enjoyed the Hor Mok, spicy but it reminded me of a dish we also made back home. The Khao Khai Ra-bert I believe was the spiciest dish we got and it was my favorite. The omelette is super fried in a way it's not really egg like anymore. Lots of pepper. We tried 2 dessert dishes, 1 was similar to. Filipino cassava cake and it was served with ice cream. Another dish was similar but it was warm and soup like. I didn't really like the soup like one but my friends enjoyed it. The table had a mix of mocktails and cocktails. The accolades are well deserved here. Went early before a show so was able to get a table in this usually packed place. The restaurant is set up to replicate a Thai train but really beyond the decor the star of the place is absolutely the cuisine. This is not a typical pad thai or panang curry joint. It's still very traditional but elevated with more regional and complex Thai dishes. Don't even recall the names of the dishes we got but the first two appetizers on the list were amazingly tasty (and quite spicy!). My last Thai food dinner was in February of this year in Los Angeles at an Encino restaurant that the LA Times gave the dubious honor of being the #1 restaurant in Los Angeles's. I rebelled and recoiled at this choice! As good as it was, it most certainly was not the #1 best restaurant in Los Angeles. Tonight at Sukh Thai Restaurant here in Brooklyn, this small but unbelievably good restaurant would and could have smothered the LA Times choice. And, I'm not slightly kidding! Sukh Thai here in Brooklyn, NY is this extremely elevated Thai restaurant making food so good, you could close your eyes and would think you're in Bangkok. Designed in a Thai train motif, this exceptional restaurant does absolutely everything right. It's a small place that has a huge following and somehow, either with smoke and mirrors or juggling, they take care of everyone. This feat alone, is amazing. My son and I sat at the bar (which I think are the best seats in the house) and ordered: * Somtum Thai Kai Ken - or papaya green salad with so many impeccable ingredients added to this dish, made this a fantastic starter * Khai Pad Pu - or plainly put, Crab Fried Rice was the best I've had in the USA * Geang Hung Lay Nuar - which now has become my favorite Thai dish ever was essentially braised short ribs done so well, you could put this on any menu in any restaurant in the world * Mangi Sticky Rice - the perfect dessert for this spicy food * Two Singha Thai beers that were ice cold helped with cooling down the numbing heat of our dinner. The staff was friendly and helpful (like all Thai people are); they were perfectly trained to make sure your experience here with them is enjoyable. I do not say this lightly when I say that as soon as I sat down to order, I had a sense I would be coming back in the near future. The food arriving later merely confirmed it. It's no surprise that without much fanfare on social media, this new restaurant was already bustling on a Friday night. This restaurant's theme is unique--Thai railway--transporting you to another era and place, while feeling familiar at the same time. It sort of resembles a cross between a retro American diner (it's the vertical channel-back booths) and a Japanese-style listening bar (think Eavesdrop, in Greenpoint). As for the food, I ordered Ped Toon ($30), Waffle Gui Chai ($10) and Pad Ngor Ngae ($22) to share. They were all good, but the Pad Ngor Ngae, a summer special menu item, was the standout. Its flavor profile was that of spicy Pad Thai, and the seafood and Chinese sausage worked well together. There were many dishes that were a twist on tried and true Thai (or at the very least, Thai American) cuisine. I took note of the variety of menu items, with some even seeming like there was Chinese influence. Now, to some of the critics commenting on the portions being small, I think one has to come to terms with the fact that Sukh is going to be a higher-end Thai restaurant; the environment and the backgrounds of the co-owners and chefs should speak for themselves. This is the kind of place I would treat my family to or go on a date at or celebrate a birthday. All around a great addition to the neighborhood, managing to bring something very different to the table in a slowly saturated Thai food scene. read more
