My fiancée, another couple, and I came here tonight and, let me tell you, our table looked like a Thai food sampler platter for four indecisive foodies. We kicked things off with the Curry Samosa, Gai Tod Nam Pla, and the Hor Mok (seriously, do yourself a favor and order it! The dish was a creative take on branzino its whipped and deconstructed for a silky, almost mousse like texture, then baked and crowned with a rich, flavorful lump of crab that took it over the top Then came the entrées... and maybe we got carried away. Six dishes hit the table: Kapraw Moo, Khao Kai Ra Bret, Pla Tod Samun Prai, Sukh Pad Thai, Panang Nuer, and Khao Pad Rod Fai. Don't judge us, menu FOMO is real. Now, everything was delicious, but two dishes deserve their own standing ovation: * Khao Pad Rod Fai - This fried rice ruined all other fried rice for me. Definitely the best fried rice I've had to date. * Pla Tod Samun Prai - Branzino so crispy on the outside and flaky inside, it's basically catfishing you into thinking you're eating two different dishes. Add in the Thai herbs and chili sauce, and it's next-level. Bottom line: Sukh is hands down the best Thai spot I've been to, and I've eaten my way through quite a few. Small and quaint thai restaurant with authentic flavors. We ordered the Panang Nuer, Khao Soi, Pad See-ew, and Thai iced tea. Each of these dishes were distinct with their own flavors. The Panang Nuer was a Braised Short Rib curry that was so tender, it was falling off the bone. The Pad See-ew seemingly looked like ordinary stir fried flat noodles but I couldn't stop after just taking one bite. The fried egg noodle paired so well with the hot curry. Sukh was an outstanding experience all around. We started off strong with Hor Mok, which was a new dish to the both of us, based on a Thai friend's recommendation. The custard is rich and creamy, and there's an immediate spice kick that quickly subsides. Based on the waitress recommendation we also shared the Ma Praw Kua Gluer (young coconut). The scallion here really complemented the coconut really well, and the fried garlic was such a nice salty addition. For our main entree we shared the Kea Mao with chicken. I wished we had been a bit more adventurous but next time! Drunken Noodles are always a banger so I really loved this dish. Lastly we caved and got a dessert, and got the taro custard and wow it was so silky, creamy, savory, and sweet. I loved this dessert. Look, the food is good and the ambiance is super chill and warm... that is up until it got closer to closing. Our original waitress left early, and her replacement essentially rushed us out of the restaurant, trying to remove plates before we were even finished eating without actually telling us that we needed to wrap it up. We came last night before a show at the Space at Irondale. We did not have a reservation, so we were offered to either sit at the outside table or at the bar. We chose the bar as it was too hot outside and a great, friendly bartender made us drinks and took our food order. As soon as the food came, the hostess came over and said a table has freed up as there was a cancellation, so she moved us there. We ordered short ribs curry, pad thai and pork belly dish. I don't eat pork, so my husband enjoyed that third dish all by himself. The food is amazing, so full of flavor, and just the proper balance of spice, sweetness and depth. The service is really great without being obtrusive, they take care of you very well. Service was great from beginning to end and the ambiance incorporated many authentic Thai themed designs that gives you a glimpse of what Thailand looks like! We ordered the short rib, three types of crab infused fried rice, and the Japanese botan ebi appetizer, all of which were from their summer menu. The botan ebi was rich, spicy, and tangy with authentic Thai spices! It was refreshing and paired perfectly with the fried botan ebi heads to provide a flavor bomb with its sharp contrast in texture between the crisp of the botan ebi head and the softness of the raw botan ebi! Highly recommend! The three types of crab infused fried rice was also very flavorful with the tangy, sweet, and spicy sauce that paired beautifully with it. My only recommendation is to potentially add crab butter/innards to elevate the fried rice even more, which can enhance the umami by a hundredfold! Without the sauce, the fried rice was quite plain and underwhelming, but to each their own! The short rib was so incredibly rich and tender, where the meat just fell off the bone! Although it only came with two pieces, it was quite filling nonetheless. The only minor issue was that part of one of the pieces of short rib was burnt and was hard and bitter as a result, so I hope they can monitor it a bit more diligently to ensure they don't get burnt in the hours-long cooking process! I got the Larb nurh which is basically minced pork with blackberry rice and chicharron. It's actually pretty spicy and I really like spicy. Tbh, the blackberry rice I thought would taste like blackberry and it didn't so I was a bit disappointed with that. So the dish comes with all these greens and I realized that they are meant to come together to form a lettuce wrap. At first, I was just eating the rice with the minced pork and snacking on the chicharron. Thai restaurants are a dime a dozen these days, each hawking a supposed "specialty" dish that is unique and a "must get". Off the bat I was a bit put off by the fact that the server continued to try to suggest dishes after we finished ordering, unprompted. Maybe she felt like we didn't order enough, meanwhile we had ordered 5 entrees for 5 people. It felt awkward that she would suggest the Branzino after we said no, nothing else, and then suggested appetizers and we had to say no again. The food arrived quite quickly - my favorite was the crab fried rice ($30) which (knock on wood) is difficult to mess up! They definitely display the crab pieces on top, with very few pieces within the rice. The pad see ew with shrimp ($22) was a bit small but tasty, again, difficult to mess up. My brother liked the Sukh Pad Thai which was again good but the portion is a crime for the price ($27). I make a point to try the khao soi ($26) at Thai restaurants and while this one was good, there wasn't much to it. It was a tad spicy and the curry was goodbut there was barely any noodles. The ped toon is a braised duck dish that was way way too fatty. ($30) They blanched the greens but overall the duck just was too fatty. Overall it's a decent place that is overhyped on social media. It's good but expensive for the portion. The decor is cute - with a train theme but again nothing super special, a bit cramped honestly. There's a 5% cash discount but it was a bit awkward because they didn't bring back any change when my dad gave them the cash. They also do auto gratuity of 20% on large parties, which restaurants don't really disclose, maybe they thought we were tipping extra. We visited here on a Friday night and had a reservation for 8.30. When we arrived our table wasn't ready and we were told that we had to wait outside, and where then left waiting for 20 minutes (and it was pretty cold). Although it's a good sign that the restaurant food must be good to be that busy it did put a bit of a dampener on the start of our experience at Sukh. Once we finally got seated though the decor and atmosphere of the restaurant was lovely, and the food we saw coming out looked and smelt amazing. We ordered the Hor Mok, curry samosas and fried crab rolls (Hoi Jor Poo) to start. All the dishes were delicious but the Hor Mok was the standout dish, really different and tasty (a must order). For mains we ordered Kang Keaw Wan, Khao Pad Rod Fai and the Ped Toon. We had also ordered another dish but this didn't arrive (we didn't realise initially so didn't mention it). All of the dishes were great but the Ped Toon (a duck dish) was the standout for us, would definitely have this again if we revisited the restaurant. Between 4, with us all having a couple of alcoholic drinks, the bill came to c$360 (including tax and tip). Not cheap but we felt for the quality of food it was fairly priced. I've driven by this place many times and I thought it looked so nice and was curious how the food would be. A few friends recommended I try it and raved about how good the food was so I finally gave it a try, and it did not disappoint. I'll start with the customer service - all of the staff members were so friendly from the moment you stepped in the front of the door. We didn't have a reservation, but they were able to quickly accommodate us with outside seating and as soon as they had something inside, they offered to move us. The waitress was so friendly and she was well versed on all of the gluten-free options and even talked us through some of her favorites. I went with the Pad Thai and it was so delicious. I opted for the shrimp instead of the chicken and it came with so much shrimp. My friends got a few other dishes and all of us had huge portions and we're 100% satisfied. We also ordered a bottle of the orange wine and it was very smooth and at an affordable price. It was a relaxed environment and they have enough seating so that you don't feel like you're on top of people. The restaurant is also beautifully decorated and has a great playlist running in the background. Amazing gem! I came around 630pm on a Tuesday without a reservation thinking it wouldn't be needed because there were reservation time slots online. However, this place filled up so fast after we got lucky and seated at the counter without a reservation. People were waiting outside for a table. The decor and ambiance of the place was lovely. Highly recommend making reservations before you come here - we got here at 12 pm - right when they opened and they already had 2 or 3 parties ahead of us. By the time we got seated and ordered our food, the place had started filing up and by the time we got our food - the place was packed to the brim! The Hor Mok was such a unique dish - I've never seen this dish anywhere! It was a little bit on the spicier side, so if you cannot handle spice, beware - otherwise it was yummy! The Gor Gluay was also very good - this was one of the non-spicy dishes that we ordered and it was very much needed! I was here recently with my friends for a bday celebration. We had reservations for early dinner and the place was empty when we arrived but it sure filled up fast. Our waitstaff gave us a review on the menu and also guided us on what to order. Most of the items we got were Spicy except the Branzino. But it was all delicious. The short ribs could have been a bit softer but it was bathed in a delicious curry sauce. Honestly everything had a different flavor profile. I enjoyed the Hor Mok, spicy but it reminded me of a dish we also made back home. The Khao Khai Ra-bert I believe was the spiciest dish we got and it was my favorite. The omelette is super fried in a way it's not really egg like anymore. Lots of pepper. We tried 2 dessert dishes, 1 was similar to. Filipino cassava cake and it was served with ice cream. Another dish was similar but it was warm and soup like. I didn't really like the soup like one but my friends enjoyed it. The table had a mix of mocktails and cocktails. The food and service here was outstanding! I cannot wait to come back to try the other dishes. The appetizers we got were amazing--Hor Mok and Ma Praw Kua Gluer. I've never had anything like the Hor Mok (branzino with a curry egg custard) These were flavor bombs and had an amazing texture. The young coconut had such an addicting seasoning on them. The short rib curry was fantastic. My husband and I were obsessed with the dish and well it was executed. We would definitely get it again. Such a cool spot! Upon walking in, you will be immediately transported into an antique train car. The theme was done exceptionally well from the decor, to the newspaper styled menus. We ordered three dishes for our group of 3 and it was plenty! The signature fried rice was fragrant and soft and paired with the crunch of the crispy pork belly. It also came with a deliciously tangy and spicy sauce that I drizzled all over. It was topped with a mountain of shredded egg, amazing. We ordered two curries - the short rib and khao soi. The short rib was nutty, spicy, and coconutty. The khao soi leaned more towards the sweet and sour side but had a surprisingly kick. Both dishes had incredibly tender, fall of the bone meat. The portion was very generous and tasty as well. We also were able to save 5% by paying with cash so that was a nice bonus. read more

Sukh is a special place located near downtown Brooklyn. It's a beautiful restaurant inside (looks like an old-timey train car to me--not sure if that was intentional), and the food is top notch.I went one night for a work event, and below I will sum up what me and my dining guests thought about the experience. DRINKS* We tried several of their fancy cocktails, and are all yummy. The one with banana and Thai rum was very interesting. It wasn't too sweet, which I was afraid it would be. APPS * Hor Mok - Curry custard with crab on top. Interesting dish and worth a try. Wasn't mind-blowing like so many other reviewers suggested, but I'm glad I tried it. * Chicken Wings - Super tasty. Get this!ENTREES * Khan Sir - Tony said it was one of the best he'd had. I tasted it, and I concur. It was rich in flavor and yummy! * Drunken Noodes - A co-worker ordered this and said it was 'typical.' * Kapraw Moo - Another co-worker ordered this dish, which had sautéed minced pork and a fried egg served over rice. He utterly enjoyed it. * Pla Tod Samun Prai - Wow. This fried filet Branzino was served with the tastiest Thai herbs and caramelized fish sauce. This is a must for sure! Everyone reporting liking the restaurant . From the feedback I got from my dining party, I think we all agree that Sukh is the place to go for unique Thai cuisine that you don't find in your typical Thai joints. In other words, don't go here for Pad Thai and Drunken Noodles, but go here for the dishes you can't get anywhere else around here. read more
