I suppose it's no surprise that I'm struggling post relocation :( I want to believe it's normal but who knows... my Dad suggested a couple weeks back that I try to find a fro yo spot. I had one back home that I would go to weekly. My ride or die spot that was there for me through thick or thin, good or bad and I'm not referring to my waist size but more my mental state. I'd always order a mini or small vanilla with snow caps mixed in and on top. I've been searching for a replacement but hadn't found anything. I purchased snow caps from Walgreens and told myself I'd stick them in my purse and bring them with me to a fro yo spot but it's so hot I thought they'd melt so I didn't. I decided to try Sugar Pine over the weekend. First and foremost, I loved the serving size (small but plenty!) of my cone. I never get a cone with my froyo though so this was already all together different. I ordered the ube brownie with Oreo pieces. It was good but obviously zero resemblance to my usual order. If you aren't missing home and trying to find peace in a replacement fro yo spot I'd say there's a very strong chance you'll really like Sugar Pine. I may peep their bi weekly rotating flavor menu online and return if there's ever something fairly plain (and bring my toppings with me to sprinkle on top in the car) AND get this in a cup to see if it helps me feel like what I'm trying to recreate or else I suppose it's time to invest in a fro yo machine for home and make my own. She was very generous on the sampling of the flavors and helping me choose which flavor to pick. I even tried a flavor called Chili Chocolate - its actually spicy! I've finally gotten the chance to try sugar pine creamery in Plano. This is an asjan mom and pop ice cream shop that makes their own ice cream. The owner rotates the flavors every 2 weeks and they're sooo unique. She also barely ever releases the same flavor twice. She brought back the mango sticky rice flavor this time so I hadddd to go. This place opened up in Jan 2019 right before the pandemic hit. I'm so glad that they were able to stay open through it and come out thriving. they're closed on mondays and that's when they'll announce new flavors on their facebook or instagram. They have amazing and unique flavors (a lot of asian flavors!!) that change every 2 weeks. i love/hate that. love because there's always something new to try, but hate because when i fall in love with a flavor it's gone and likely won't be back for a long time. or if there's a flavor that i really want to try, but don't have time to stop by i'm super disappointed :( i love that there's always 2 dairy free flavors because i'm pretty sure that i'm lactose sensitive. the owners are super sweet and will give you samples to some/all the flavors and offer suggestions for mixes and toppings. i'll also grab a pint to go if the flavor is super yummy. during the hot summer i like adding a scoop to my cold bubbly drinks to add some flavor - it's delicious. read more
