I've done a lot of baking and have some experience with different versions of buttercream frosting, and the frosting on my cake tasted like it was made mostly with shortening rather than butter. I know to get a white white frosting, shortening will often be mixed with butter, but the flavor should still be good, and this just wasn't tasty like I was expecting for a cake at the price that I paid. I will try them again for other items from the cafe, or cookies etc, but not another filled cake.

He asked for a vanilla cake with a whipped cream and fresh strawberry filling. They had used a white buttercream instead, and also put an inedible fondant covering the entire cake. This turned what was supposed to be a light and airy strawberry shortcake into more of an overly sweet and dense cake, I do want to note that they did not ask any follow up questions about what to use for the cakes icing or anything of the sort (which I find strange especially at this price point for a small cake) when my husband sent in the request. They also told him they put candles in the box, but there were none. We tried to reach out to the business to resolve this offline, and they did not respond. Service was good as usual. Except our server wasn't as attentive as they usually are. And my friend ordered one soup and she received another one. When she asked the server about it he said they were out of the one she ordered so they just gave her that one instead. They never even asked her they just switched it out. I thought that was odd. Anywho, I ordered the turkey Swiss croissant with a side of fruit for the first time. It was on the Sunday brunch menu. It was a bit too greasy for me so I won't order it again. My fave menu item Is the chicken salad on a croissant with a house salad and lemon vinaigrette. I'll probably stick to that from now on.
