The Texas Craft Brewers Guild is like the bible of trustworthy independent breweries throughout Texas, showcasing people who really care about their craft and just good beers. I got to Barking Armadillo in Georgetown just an hour before they closed on Saturday and was pretty impressed. It was already winding down for the day, but that didn't stop me from getting their Texas Hefe (a bronze medal winner at the Texas Craft Brewers Cup). It was a light beer with a surprisingly full flavor profile. The bartender was friendly, and the space was very nice with plenty of TVs indoors to watch college football. Stopped back out here a few weekends ago. We first visited during 2020 shortly after we moved to the area and so happy to return. They had many new beers to choose from so we got a flight and a few pints of ones we enjoyed last time. I love when breweries offer flight options! Nice clear and large tv screen board listing the beers available with some info about them. They currently even have a Mead option. My current favorites are the Morning Venom(coffee stout) and the Texas Hefe(wheat beer). Fast and friendly service from the beer tenders, great pours. Cute live music stage area outside and in their first entry room. They always have an absolute fire food truck when we're there! Recently it was Bahler Street Pizza. Most other customers there brought their kids or dogs, or both. There is a limited parking area, but you can usually find more parking on the street that is still very close by. This brewery has one of the coolest logos I have ever seen for a brewery, memorable and unique! read more

A great brewery I came across while exploring Georgetown. This is a dog friendly establishment with plenty of seating inside and out. They have board games available and also a food truck available for food options. There are plenty of beer options for all you beer lovers just about something for everybody. Yesterday was the "soft" opening of Barking Armadillo Social located on Westinghouse Road in Georgetown, just, as ito me closer to Round rock. Soft openings are "hard" on the staff! This is their second location and the place was packed with regulars to and many new faces. The seasoned staff of Sarah OG, Julia La Brit, and Supercool Stephanie with the help of two new bar tenders were able to cope under pressure. Co-owner Jakob was on hand to over see the launch, which was good because I wanted to know what was the vision for such a different space to the industrial themes Riverbend location. So, first the ambience was bland blank canvas, and somewhat sterile! The teal walls and open clinical clean feel was a surprise after the homely familiarity of the OG Bar Arm. Even the outdoor triangle space was characterless, sleeping on the side of the building where you could watch the parking lot cars grazing while their owners were inside imbibing. So I asked Jakob about the why of it. He explained it like an anthropologist. He said we like to start off as a blank slate and let the community shape the space. How cool is that! If you have ever been the Whitestone brewery in their old railway location then to their new location you'll see the same change: from sumptuous to stark. One other similarity is both Whitestone and Barking Social have in house pizzas, so gone are their good trucks. So folks get your shaping shoes on and transform Bar Arm Social into your image! read more

Been coming here a while, always superior beers, and super friendly service. A bit of a drive for us, but we are always welcomed like we live just around the corner. Beers are tasty and refreshing, and the staff is always helpful. Large outside area with fans and overhead cover, sometimes live music on the little stage - fair amount of room inside as well, when it's 100+ outside. They always have their food truck schedule on their Facebook page, helps take the mystery out of what might be there. Every food truck when we've visited has been really, really good! read more

Great spot to grab a cold one and chill... If you have a four-legged friend, bring them along. Good amount of space inside and out... It was a hot Saturday afternoon when I visited - The Irish red beer was very tasty and satisfying... And the out door seating area was actually pretty comfortable. I had a phone call I wanted some privacy, so I went outside... And SHOCK I was the only person outdoors... Lol. But it was still very comfortable despite the hundred degree temperature Friendly staff, cold beer which tasted great and made locally right there... Will be back to taste other concoctions. If you have not tried them, you should. Parking might be a challenge but don't let it deter you from checking out this establishment. read more

Took the drive to Georgetown cause we really wanted to have some beers with the pups. Super dog friendly environment. Maybe even a little too dog friendly, there were some people letting their dog roam free. Had about a dozen different beers on tap. Both IPAs were good. The peach habanero heff was a good amount of kick. Strawberry pop tart heff was great for the summer heat. Kind of warm inside, but it was 100 outside. Outside had some fans going on their patio. Looks like a cute area when it isn't so blazing hot. Food truck outside was decent. They also sell some snacks inside. Lots of TVs around the building. Seems like an ok spot to catch a game. There was a lot of kids running around that were distracting. Probably the biggest downside. Otherwise, staff was super friendly and made the spot enjoyable. read more

Good beer, good music, lots of doggos, can't complain! Try their IPA offerings, they're a nice change of pace from other local breweries in the area. They've got a rotating menu so the beers are ever changing. It's extremely dog friendly so bring your four legged paws! There is also a pizza food truck that has some really good smelling pizzas. Stopped by to watch an Austin FC game and was pleasantly surprised to find that they offer a 10% discount to anyone wearing AFC gear on game day, two thumbs up. The space is large and the beer is good. I tried an IPA and a pilsner. There are a few arcades in the back and enough TVs throughout to keep everyone interested. My only complaint is that the game sound was not turned on, so I was distracted by people talking, dogs barking, etc. read more

My fiance and I visited this brewery on a Sunday afternoon and it was just perfect! They have a great patio area with comfy chairs and tables. I had the Hefeweizen and my fiance had the strawberry famadillo. Both were fantastic. Service was amazing. The bartender was extremely attentive and intelligently spoke of all their offerings. He even allowed my fiance to sample some before choosing. They also had a taco truck there which was just perfect for a snack. We will certainly be returning. read more

Potential but poor management. Expensive and a weird environment. They can't decide who their main customers are. Are the seniors? Are they family? The lack of noise was disturbing. There is a jukebox inside but you pay 5 for 3 songs and can't hear your purchased songs. TV is in but no sound. Video games and a cool Star Wars pin ball but no sound. Also the music entertainment is cliche. While I enjoy Texas song writers, acoustic folk and country, this is all Georgetown has to to offer. It has become cliche. No rock n roll. No metal! I introduced myself as a major promoter and was quickly shelved. The other thing I didn't like was being cashed out earltly. I had money to spend and could walk home with my dog leading the way. I was told I needed to leave because I was drunk. I don't see this as a viable point and provable as I had four alcoholic drinks in four hours plus I could walk home. I was kicked out before dark. I was very upset as I was enjoying my time. My bill with tip was 50, for four drinks and a burger that was an average of 10 dollars per item. That is expensive especially for an experience that was confusing, angering and just meh. I will consider having jugs of strawberry mead if the price is manageable. 10 per drink isn't! I will not hang out at this establishment. read more

I love this place. There are several beers on their menu that are worth coming in for. The staff are uniformly friendly, knowledgable, and helpful. The place is comfortable -- nothing fancy, but a place where it feels nice to spend some time. I haven't tried any of the food trucks yet, but the food people have been coming in with has all looked delicious. read more

4 very solid stars for a new brewery in Georgetown. We visited 9/5 & enjoyed the beers we had there. Husband had the Witbier (one of his go to styles) and I had the Hefe & (limited) strawberry farmadillo. We ordered chips & queso and tacos from the taco truck onsite. We enjoyed those as well. Very solid meat in those tacos and very filling! We will return, but try to come earlier so we can sit on the patio instead of inside. Some of the guests inside were not vigilant about masking when leaving their table. I would suggest some signage on the interior tables (at least) reminding them of this request. There are dogs allowed inside which did not bother us at all (we have 2 at home). But, some people are not as comfortable with dogs inside so I feel it needs to be mentioned. What a fun brewery! With indoor and outdoor options both seemingly dog friendly, what a great place to be. The food truck selections were also very exciting. We went on a day there was a Kim chi tempura chicken sandwich which was delicious. Loved the cream ale and their frozen drinks. A little bit of something for everybody- even my friends toddler was able to partake in the fun with his toys and dance to the live music. I am a picky beer drinker so I didn't quite find one I liked this time, but the flight and tasting options are great so I'm sure I'll get there eventually. Just need to try some more beer! I really enjoyed my visit to this place. The variety of craft beers was very good and seemed to have something for everyone's taste. Plenty of seating and televisions to watch. Having the Taylor BBQ food truck outside was a definite plus. We got BBQ nachos and they were wonderful! The only downside to this place was the lack of waitresses to take your beer order. The Meridian Hive Blackberry Mead was my favorite, but the other three choices in the flight including Hefeweizen, Strawberry Limeade Ale, and Magonada with a tajin rim were delicious as well! The seating area was comfortable and well shaded. The on-site food truck served up an amazing chipotle steak quesadilla; it had the right blend of savory and spice. Together, the beverages at BA and the lineup at the food truck were a great pairing! We are on vacation here in Texas and we're hoping to return to the Barking Armadillo before we head home! read more

Wear your mask and come safely have some of the better beer around. We particularly enjoyed this brewery and we visit breweries quite regularly. The beer was nicely fizzy, not flat, and there was spaces out seating. The DDH IPA and Hefeweizen here were my favorites. Everything tasted fresh, not flat. It was pretty great.
