Such great coffee! I got a maple oatmilk latte. They had lots of seating and were very quick with my order.

Sudden Sally Banff, AB Canada Amtrak Vacations representative, Kevin Guadagnoli, who was working through Railbookers, created my itinerary that had me staying at the Canoe and Suites for two days in Banff, following similar stops in Vancouver and Jasper. The hotel in Banff was an excellent choice. I had a light dinner at Sudden Sally, which is adjacent to the Canoe, while waiting for a next-day trip into the lakes and waterfalls in and around Banff. Amy was helpful and courteous, taking my order for pork belly sliders (tomato jam, crispy onions, A1 Sauce, Jack Cheese, $24). With a glass of Village Cider ($12) and a double of Woodford Reserve ($24) and an iceberg wedge ($9), the total was well in keeping with local prices (and we're informed tips are shared with the kitchen staff). The servings were tasty, nicely proportioned, and there was little left of the meal when I finished, feeling well-fed. I found the restaurant airy, clean, and comfortable. Conversations were inside-voice level, allowing for easy listening while taking in the beautiful surroundings. The vibe was one of respect for the wonders of nature that were waiting just outside the door.

Our host Kyle was great! He was attentive, knowledgeable and made my birthday feel special. The outside dining view was gorgeous. A peaceful way to unwind. The food was delicious. Well prepared and good portions. Thanks for the great hospitality!

Beautiful place with a nice view of the mountains. I took the classic breakfast, she took poached eggs Benedict. Both very good. This is where we will have our breakfast during our stay

This restaurant is located in the Canoes Hotel building. It is super busy on weekends in the high season. We went mid August at around 8:30 am. We were seated quickly as there were only two of us, but there was a line when we left. Our server was friendly. I ordered decaf latte coffee, which was delicious. Slight issue with the sugar on the table as it was in a container; the sugar was stuck and wouldn't come out. I ended up unscrewing the container, but maybe packets are easier ‍. The food was quite excellent. We had the fried oatmeal, which was inventive and a nice twist on traditional oatmeal. We also had the ham omelet. It was fluffy, but they could have put a little more ham in it. Potatoes were crispy and toast was already buttered, which I love. We were tempted to get a cinnamon roll from the pastry selection, but asked for it to be heated up. Our server came out to let us know that their oven wasn't working so she could not warm it up. We took it as a sign and told her that we would skip the roll. I did not think it would be as good later on. One of the baristas brought it over to our table anyway (miscommunication). We explained to the server that we didn't want it because it couldn't be warmed up. She said she would box it for us. So we had to re-explain that we don't want it boxed up, we didn't want it at all. It appeared she was very busy and had a lot going on. She graciously removed it from our table after she understood. It wasn't a big deal to us, but after that she shied away from our table and didn't make eye contact. You can see the mountains from the restaurant, nice interior, and clean bathroom. The lunch menu looked appealing. If we had more time, we would have gone back.

East Wind Rickey - gin based cocktail, delicious

Enjoyed a lovely evening here for a private supper club event while in town for a conference.in October 2025. The space itself is really beautifully decorated, clean and modern. We were sat in a separate room from the restaurant which was cozy. The staff were super lovely and attentive with our party. We dined on a set menu of three dishes, paired with three cocktails. The appetizer of coconut cashew prawn was my fave course. The dish paired well with the first cocktail, called a whiskey junglebird which contained whiskey, pineapple, Campari and passion fruit and lemon. The main was a chicken skewer with tamarind, plums and roasted plantain. It was paired with the second cocktail, called an East Wind Rickey, which was a refreshing mix of gin, pisco, grapefruit, ginger honey and tonic water. The honey stands on top of the drink added an interesting and interactive element. The dessert, a key lime tart, was delicious but I felt the last cocktail, their clarified pina colada, should have been more sour/bitter vs sweet to cut through the sweetness of the final dish. I enjoyed great conversation and met some cool people at the dinner - thanks Sudden Sally team for.a fun time!

First off, the house coffee is absolutely wonderful. My son went with an Italian sandwich from the case and I did the Classic Breakfast with an extra egg. The service was fast friendly and efficient. The inside reminded me of an alpine style hotel breakfast niche. A great place to enjoy a quick or not so quick breakfast or lunch. Right across from the Moxy where we stayed.

Pecan tart, crust was really sweet and a bit hard but otherwise delicious and we devoured most of it despite this.

Enjoyed a nice evening dinner on the patio right next door to my hotel. Took in beautiful views while dining on tasty bites in this laid back yet elevated restaurant. Overall food was great, service needed some work. The wait staff took a while to come by after being seated, forgot a drink, we had to ask to have dishes cleared to make room on the table, brought the wrong check then took a while returning. Also noticed employees smoke around the counter and it carried to the patio area. Tuna poke was seared perfectly. Didn't care for the over ripe mashed avocado, dish needed some heat. Ravioli was amazing except a few bites of dry, tough asparagus.

Mushroom & Maple Smoked Ham Omelette

This was an easy breakfast for us, we were staying at the hotel next door. I had their Mushroom & Maple Smoked Ham Omelette, which came with potatoes and bread. The small potatoes were very good if not so healthy, the omelette was pretty standard. We are finding great service on our visit to Banff and received that again at Sudden Sally. As we were finishing up we got into a nice conversation and learned a couple of things about the area we found helpful.

Stayed at the sister hotel next door and had the pleasure of dining here for both breakfast and dinner, and I'm glad that I did! All of the dishes were amazing and made with thoughtfulness, and premium ingredients and executed well. I was particularly impressed with the beef stroganoff. The beef was really tender and went so well with the stroganoff sauce. From the breakfast items, their omelette and potatoes was a highlight for me. I couldn't stop eating their crispy breakfast potatoes and the omelette was a good mix between fresh and tasty. Service was awesome and helpful and the restaurant is very well decorated and has an upscale feel to it. Really glad that I dined here!

Had breakfast here twice during my stay in Banff and really enjoyed it both times. The service was quick and friendly, and it never felt overly busy or rushed. The croissant breakfast sandwich and the fried oatmeal were both great. I thought the menu could have had some more variety. Coffee was also good, and everything came out fast. A great spot for a relaxed, or quick breakfast without a long waits. Interior is very cute also

Came here during our family vacation to Banff and enjoyed this wonderful restaurant at Hotel Canoe and Suites. Atmosphere was great and the coffee drinks were splendid as well. Service was very friendly and the experience overall was fantastic. 5 stars and two thumbs up! Thank you!

After finishing the trip, I can confidently say this was our favorite place to eat. The portions were generous, even for a big eater like myself. We shared the Rotisserie Chicken Sandwich and the Bison Burger. I honestly don't know which one I enjoyed more. The BBQ sauce and Blueberry aioli were both an experience. And of course, with it being a distillery, the drinks were also a win. The drinks were just right, strong but delicious. I also became a fan of their IPA. As for seating, there's two stories and plenty of larger tables for big groups. I highly recommend this as necessary dining location during your trip to Banff. I would HIGHLY recommend

We were seated upstairs on the balcony, which was a nice spot and had a great vibe. The service started off fine, but things quickly went downhill. It took over 20 minutes to receive our drinks after ordering. While bringing them out, our server accidentally spilled an iced tea all over the table and onto my white pants. Mistakes happen, but we were surprised that there was no apology, and the response felt very dismissive. Shortly after, while we were cleaning up, she came back and sprayed cleaner on the table but accidentally sprayed it onto me instead. Again, there was no acknowledgment or apology. A few minutes later, she brought out a replacement drink, but it was the wrong one. When we pointed it out, there was some confusion and we were initially told it was correct before another staff member came over and brought the right drink. Unfortunately, the food was also a letdown. The bison burgers were extremely dry, and the ribs were so tough and chewy that they were difficult to eat. We were really hoping the meal would make up for the service issues, but it left us disappointed. Given the issues, we expected the spilled drink would at least be removed from the bill. Instead, we noticed additional drink refills on our tab that we didn't order. Overall, it was a frustrating experience, especially because we had been looking forward to trying this place. Hopefully this was just an off night, but based on our visit, we wouldn't recommend it.

Admittedly, I'm not much of a drinker but I'll have some once in a while and Bear Street seems to have a pretty good selection. I tried a Vietnamese Coffee Stout which I enjoyed. I'm definitely more of an eater than I am a drinker and the eats at Bear Street Tavern are excellent. My party got 2 pizzas and a salad and we enjoyed it all. To start we got the Tavern Bowl. It's a bunch of different vegetables with a Tahini Miso Dressing and kimchi on top. All the different textures and flavors worked really well together and the salad served as a nice break between bites of pizza. The Wheeler Hut pizza has mushrooms, ricotta, truffle oil, pesto, and mozzarella. If you're a fan of truffle flavor you'll enjoy this pizza. As soon as it was brought out I could already smell the truffle. The Mediterranean has olives, feta cheese, sun-dried tomatoes, artichokes, red onions, chili flakes, spinach, mozzarella, and balsamic glaze. A little busier than the Wheeler Hut, but it was equally delicious. I'm not sure which pizza I liked more. Both pizzas had a fantastic crust with some char. Substantial enough to stand up to the toppings but still a little doughy for a nice chew. The char gives a nice crunch as well. Service is quick and friendly and the prices are fair, especially in a tourist area. I definitely recommend Bear Street Tavern.
