I wanted to try poutine the minute I arrived in Canada. This place was close to my hotel, so I walked over and ordered the smoked meat poutine. It consisted of ham, cheese curds, potatoes and gravy. The meat was well-cooked and I liked the cheese curds. The gravy was a little salty for my liking. Potatoes were not soggy despite being drenched in gravy. They have two plate sizes - small or large. I got a small since it was only me eating. The place was small, but had outdoor seating. Service was great - pick and efficient. Their menu consisted more than poutines. They also served sandwiches, hamburgers and hotdogs. I would comeback and try a different flavor poutine.
Got a smoked meat small poutine which was enough to share with my wife. The poutine was pretty solid. Good portions, delicious fries and good meat as well. Only thing that I found a bit lacking was the gravy and cheese curds which could have had more flavor. Service was solid even though there was only two people working. Nice location on bear street with a lot of outdoor seating as well. Solid place for poutine when you're in Banff!
I'm not a fan of poutine but when in Rome, ahem, I mean Banff, why not? We ordered the large smoked meat poutine and there was a lot of toppings (smoked meat, cheese curds, gravy). The portion size was large enough to share with 2 or 3 people. I did wish there were more fries though. I liked that there was a lot of outdoor seating and the staff were very nice. Even though I'm not a fan of poutine, the poutine was good and you do get a lot of bang for your buck.
We walked in on Thursday at 5pm, and sat at the counter. Takes credit card. One person was working but he did every job well. Got a small poutine with bacon and onion ($17.50). It was filling enough for 1 person for a meal or split for an appetizer. The cheese curds were nice and soft but had some texture. Fries were cooked well, was crispy. the gravy had just enough thickness. Had some diced grilled onions on top that had good flavor with the gravy
When in Canada, poutine is a must! After trying a few in both Calgary and Banff, the smoked meat poutine here was hands-down the best of the trip! The fries, rich gravy, and cheese curds were spot-on, and the smoked meat was tender and full of flavor. My husband and I shared a large, and it was more than enough for dinner. The service was friendly, the food came out fast despite the crowd, and we enjoyed our meal at one of their outdoor tables. So glad we ended our trip with Banff Poutine.
Smoked meat poutine was about $20 for a large bowl and I enjoyed the meal. I thought it would be some weird Canadian meal, but it did not disappoint. The cheese was delicious too. The cheese was cooked nicely. The place has benches to seat around 10 people total. I noticed most people got the food to go. The staff was very friendly with everyone and didn't mind us sitting up front.
This was my first time having poutine, so I don't have a point of reference but I thought it was good! We called ahead for pickup since we were in a rush and they had it ready for us within 10 minutes. The store itself is small with plenty of outdoor seating, but very clean inside. We ordered a large classic and small bacon and onions. Poutine tastes exactly what you think it'll taste like (fries, cheese curds, and gravy), but the gravy is more curry-like than the typical American gravy I'm used to. It came out hot, drenched in gravy, and there was a good amount of toppings on both the dishes. It's a heavy dish, but I can see this really hitting the spot on a late night or just as a shareable with a lot of people. I don't know if this is the standard for poutine, but it left a good impression on me!
Excellent service. Hot food. Friendly patrons. Limited seating inside but there's outside spots as well. 10/10 would recommend
The poutine hit all the notes. The gravy, cheese, and smoked meat blended well together and this was the popular pick for the week, with our group. There are tables outside for dining, as the inside bar seating is a bit tight. Service was fast and there was a consistent flow of customers.
Tried this placed when I was in Banff. Never had poutine before so I couldn't compared it to anything else. The flavor is decent. It's very heavy with the cheese and fries. They only have two sizes: small and large. I ordered a small just to try it. It's too much for the two of us to finish it. We probably ate less than half of it. I think this size should be a medium and they make one that's smaller than this. It's very heavy.
This was my first time trying poutine and I thought it was just okay. This spot is within the little downtown banff area. I thought the staff was very nice but the food was a bit heavy for my personal taste.
Authentic poutine. Fresh. Busy and has a wait during peak meal times. I liked this place. The portion was perfect for sharing and I loved how you could customize your poutine. I added extra cheese curds and we had more cheese than fries!!! I'm not complaining bc I love cheese. The gravy was salty and delicious. Fries were crispy enough to hold the gravy. Cheese curds could of been more squeaky. But u only get that from cheese in quebec. Hidden off the main street its still extremely busy. A constant flow of customers keeps the fries put out being hot and fresh A new fave in banff for some quick eats!

I think I just don't like Poutine (too many competing flavors and textures). But overall, I can't knock Banff Poutine as a business. Friendly guys, fresh food. Small venue, so be prepared to take your food and head out, or come during off-peak hours if you plan to sit and stay. read more

Large portions of food. Poutine was really tasty. However, I'm not Canadian so I can't tell if it's authentic, but it tastes good. Smoked beef sandwich was also fantastic. Big portion, tender and delicious. read more

First time to try poutine, it was good but nothing to crave for. The smoked meat sandwich is a must try though. Highly recommended for those who crave a good pastrami sandwich. Will come back definitely. read more
We tried the smoked meat. Very heavy, very hearty, I do wish the cheese cubes could have been melted more. Overall, a delicious fatty poutine. We ordered the small size but it was very big already. They should have offered a mini size so it's for testing after lunch or dinner, like after a proper meal for someone who just wants to try for the first time or maybe try a few more flavors. The small size is too big for just testing for any groups fewer than 3 people read more

Great stop for authentic poutine. Located within Banff city center, it's a nice quick spot to stop for a bite while out. A little expensive for the classic, but the portion sizes are huge and worth it. Even the small was large enough to split with another person. They freshly make the fries and bake the cheese curds for you, rather than giving you a dish that's been sitting out. The gravy is delicious and not too heavy or overpowering of the other flavors. There's plenty of fries and cheese curds so you have a nice balanced bite every time. Fries are cooked just right to still be a little crisp and not soggy when the gravy is poured on top. Check them out! read more

Nice classic and bacon/onion poutine. Also had the smoked meat sandwich. All were tasty although a bit pricey. Great staff, nice outside seating, and wonderful environment. read more
We wanted to try poutine and had heard this was the best in town. I don't know if this rating is for the place or just that we didn't actually enjoy poutine. Portions were very large - so we were able to split and have plenty. It's worth a try if you've never tried it, but don't expect to be blown away. You could walk in here and be served any time. read more

Not bad for poutine but definitely pretty pricy! It was $15 for a small classic poutine. The outdoor seating was nice and the staff was friendly. read more
We ordered a large bacon and onion poutine. It was freshly made as we ordered it. The gravy is delicious. I like how the cheese curds were slightly melted as the chef toasted the dish before dressing it with the gravy. The gravy was good without being too heavy. The only thing was the fries could be crispier. Overall, recommend to stop by for their pontine or quick bite. read more

Our first day in Banff and we were looking for a quick spot. Came across this poutine place and it was really good. Last time we had poutine was in Vancouver and this place is better. We ordered a small poutine with onions and bacon and also got a smoked meat sandwich. Their smoked meat is similar to corned beef and pastrami. It was good. The poutine was absolutely tasty. read more
Good, quick | Good location $ Menu is simple, almost like In N Out! We all got a poutine. This was our first time. Poutine is definitely a comfort food. It was delicious! Fries with chunks of cheese smothered in gravy - yum! Good first experience. The establishment is on the quieter side of town, which we really liked. No crazy long lines or large crowds on the street you have to maneuver around. This is a very in and out type of place, grab n go. The space is quite small. We found a tiny area near the bathroom to park our small stroller with our sleeping toddler in it. We still felt in the way. Nonetheless, we'd come back because it's quick and less crowded from the main parts of town. read more
A good poutine is good to find! And I'm pleased to report that this is a good place to find one. This is a very small restaurant lined with shallow shelves and stools for inside dining. There are also tables outside, which is appreciated during crowded times. All of their poutine dishes start with a the classic combination of fries, gravy, and cheese curds. Then add ons like bacon, onions, and other delectables are added. We enjoyed the classic, and the bacon and onion versions. Both very tasty and good examples of poutine. Poutine can be surprisingly hard to find in western Canada, so this is a pleasant find for those in need of a fix. read more
I love poutine so I knew I had to try this place. There were a few people in line ahead of us, but it went fast. We got the large smoked meat poutine for $15.95. It was huge, but we finished it between the two of us. Not the best poutine I've had, but it was comforting on a -18 degree day. The fresh cut fries were great...crispy on the outside and soft on the inside and it had a good amount of cheese curds & hot gravy. The smoked meat was just ok, it lacked flavour. read more

Located centrally in Banff, this is a great spot to call in for some poutine! There is numerous toppings you can get, however, I opted for the traditional poutine and it certainly didn't disappoint. Quick service, great atmosphere. Would definitely recommend. read more

Smoked meat poutine was absolutely amazing. Wish I could have this dish couple times per week. Very nice guys running the place. Both indoor and outdoor seating available. Hope to return to fill my belly another day! read more
Disclaimer: I am not an expert on poutine, and this place is more towards the fast food end of the scale in terms of experience. It was a solid poutine, with a decent gravy, fresh French fries, and surprisingly good quality cheese, given that the whole town is a tourist trap. The smoked meat sandwich (basically corned beef) was simple, with ordinary sliced bread and already hit with mustard, but it was amply filled with meat and definitely hit the spot, although it seemed kind of pricey. Location is a few blocks off the main drag, so not as touristy as it could have been. Now only if they had fountain drinks instead of canned.... read more

Quick service and good food. It's a bit expensive for what you get but you are in a tourist town so it's pretty reasonable considering the location. Be sure to get their early because they ran out of smoked meat and sausage when we arrived. read more
