Fantastic pizza and subs. Definitely worth a visit. I don't believe you will be disappointed.

You know what I wish I did? Take pictures of the food. It was cold and I forgot. After an hour half to two hour drive from Calgary, I wanted something to eat. Thing is we arrived pretty late. Close to midnight. Me and my daughter walked to town, about 5-10 minutes away from our hotel. A few places were still open, which was nice. After checking out a few places, we decided to check out Aardvark. Location - It's in the town of Banff. It's right off of the main street. Walkable from a lot of the hotels in the area. Food - The food is good. It was freshly made. We got one pepperoni, one cheese, and poutine. The pizza had enough grease, but it's not greasy. The dough was cooked properly. It was crispy outside and chewey inside. The flavor on the pizza and poutine was good. I did not get food poisoning. Service/Staff - Good service. Orders were taken promptly and food came out on a timely manner. Staff were friendly. Vibe - The place had a fun and bright vibe. Pizza by the slice was on display. There's not really a place to sit. It's pretty much a "come in and grab" type of place. It was cool. People were still coming in to buy slices. Would I go back? Yes, I would. It's specially nice that they are open super late. Aardvark saved my life when I was dying from hunger. I flew in from the United States for my annual trip to Banff. This time around, I didn't get to Banff until about 11 PM. Seeing several restaurants open on Google Maps, I walked to each one, down the line. They were all closed. I didn't eat since breakfast that day and with the local grocery store closed too, I thought I was going to pass out. The hostess from Canadian Brew House down the street mentioned my choices were Aardvark, Domino's, and Subway. No offense to Subway or Domino's but when I travel, I don't eat at chain restaurants. Friendly staff. Cool interior with minimal seating. Oldschool pizza place vibe. Had a pizza the first night. Large extra cheese and pepperoni. I feel like if it was cooked longer and had a little crunch to it, it would've made it better for me. Still a good option if you want pizza in Banff. They make their own dips so naturally I went with creamy garlic. It was good. Poutine the next night which was mid. I ordered extra cheese and I couldn't tell. We were recommended to check out this place for an easy quick bite by our driver, who is local to the area. As we were waiting for our food, a lot of locals came in and the owners knew them by their name and their regular order which for me, says a lot about the service and the quality of food since they keep coming back. What a quaint place to get fast pizza, by the slice! We were too lazy for a sit down dinner and wasn't too hungry. We walked by this place as we headed back to our Airbnb and it was perfect timing. It was very convenient and the staff were friendly. They kindly reheated the slices for us and we sat outside enjoying our quick dinner. The pizza wasn't anything special, pizza is pizza. The crust was thin and it was actually pretty good. We devoured our pepperoni pizza and walked on to our lodge. The prices are decent as well, compared to other pizza places. I got food poisoning from the veggie pizza, so beware! I'm still giving this place 2 stars because I enjoyed my slice of pepperoni pizza and I love the convenience of this place's hours. The slice of veggie pizza was probably sitting there for far too long and it was the only slice that my friends didn't try. (I was the only one that ended up getting food poisoning). I really enjoyed the club sandwich. I ordered extra mayo and it was really good. The second time I got a Canadian pizza from there and I wasn't too impressed. When I got there they had to remake it and I had to wait a bit longer. The pizza had no real flavor to it, the meats overwhelmed it. I don't know if the people working didn't know how to make it but I wouldn't get this again. I would definitely come back for the sandwiches. Big plus that they are open a little later. read more

A tiny hole in the wall that's off the main strip (though not too far) - my husband remembered coming here several years ago and raved about their poutine, so we went to check them out! The place doesn't have any seating inside (that's how small it is) but there's a couple seats al fresco. I guess most get take-out from here. The poutine (which is what they advertised as the best there is) was really good! The fries were crispy and the gravy and curds were nice and hot but not too salty. They don't do anything fancy with their poutine - just the classic! I also got a roast beef sub since I didn't want fries to be my only dinner item - balance, people, balance! The roast beef sub was not good at all - the bread wasn't even as good as Subway, the beef was hardly noticeable, and the "sauteed veggies" were all very undercooked and raw. There's something to be said when you order from the same place 3 nights in a row. I never have actually been to Aardvark's, so I can't speak about a dine-in experience. But their delivery service is pretty damn great. First of all, they're open till 4 AM. And they have plenty of options that are ALL available for your late-night cravings. Second, their poutine. Thick fries, allll the gravy, and big cheese curds. I was in poutine heaven. Yes, I got poutine 3 nights in a row. And yes, it was the same delivery driver all 3 times. No shame. Also, their chicken fingers are pretty tasty as well. Pair it with some plum sauce - yum, yum. Aardvark's you've got yourself a loyal fan. When I went to Banff as a little girl, when thing I always remembered was Aardvark Pizza. Partly because of the name, partly because of the colorful, cartoonish walls, and of course, the pizza. Aardvark Pizza is a tiny hole in the wall pizza joint that makes good pizza almost any time of day or night. They are open from 10am until 4am. They have a menu of traditional and not so traditional pizzas, but you can get anything you like made. They also serve sandwiches, wings and a few other items. Last time I visited it was scorching hot outside, so I waited on the bench outside the door. When my pizza was ready the cook brought it out to me with a smile! Aardvark Pizza is a really cute, unique little pizza place that I will visit every time I go to Banff. The pizza hits the spot, and there's just something about the place I love. It is also apparently very popular with the after-bar crowd, but I've never experienced this myself. read more

Second time eating something from here. I am a tour guide who comes to Banff once or twice a year. At $4.50 a slice its not really cheap but the slices are big and when fresh they are good. I ordered a full Donair Sub. For the price it was ok. The add says "donair meat piled high". Not even. Just a cheap line to get you hooked. It is nothing to write home about. Its a place if you are desperate for a cheaper than the rest of Banff meal except for Subway, Mcdonalds or the supermarket. But there are some Ramen places offering cheap hearty meals too. The perfect cheese for fat content and texture. It's the kind of pizza best eaten straight out of the oven and even better when drunk. This is a review as a tourist *disclaimer* Ordered the poutine simply because the sign out front said best poutine in banff and I was determined to try this Canadian dish before I had to return to my home country. The weather was cold and rainy, and when I opened my container of poutine I was greeted with glorious hot steam. The fries were thick, slathered in savory gravy with big chunks of mustard cheese curd scattered throughout. Hit all the marks of what I had read about traditional poutine, but wasn't really anything I'd care to eat again. The flavor was in a word- comforting. Recently visited Banff and stumbled upon this place because my group wanted some poutine fries and passed by the window which was written "the best poutine in town" That got us attention and we immediately went into the store and ordered. We got sweet potato poutine and build your own poutine, both came out to be $20.50 USD. It was a daily cheap snack/meal for sharing of 4 girls. Let me tell you think, the sweet potato poutine was super delicious, we were so amazed and blown away by how delicious and tasty the gravy sauce and cheese curb were incorporated with the sweet potato fries. We couldn't get enough of them. And, for the other build-your-own poutine, we just ordered a bunch of ingredients with curry sauce, man the curry sauce was spicy and hit the spot. If you are a spicy person, feel free to try it. We went the 2nd day because we kept craving for their poutines, and we got a gluten-free pizza on the side too for total of $48ish USD. Their price is fairly cheap. But, we got kind of disappointed this time for their poutines like their gravy sauce was super salty and it wasn't as good as the first time we had it. Their food quality needs to improve and be consistent. Their gluten-free pizza was pretty tasty though.
