Everyone kept recommending Lupo to us for our Banff trip and I was honestly worried it would have gotten overhyped to us. However, it was not at all! Perfectly hyped :) We made a reservation for 8:30 PM on a long summer night and there seemed to be a few other empty tables for walk-in's. The waiter had some recommendations and we mainly went off of that. The pizza was heavenly!! The most unique combination of flavors, pistachio in a savory pizza was incredible! The pasta with the lemon sauce was another favorite, it especially felt perfect for summer. The service was great and it also has some mountain view's which we definitely enjoyed. read more

Note: We never got to eat here. We made our reservation several days in advance and clearly noted that we'd be bringing our small dog and requested patio seating. Apparently, reading reservation notes isn't part of the reservation process at Lupo, because they didn't bother telling us dogs weren't allowed until three hours before our reservation. Having a no-dog policy is your choice. Having absolutely no respect for your customers' time is another. You had days to tell us. Instead, you waited until the last minute and left us scrambling to find another restaurant. Thankfully, Princess Sofia Pizza was happy to seat us outside, and the food and service were outstanding. Funny how one restaurant can communicate like professionals while another can't manage to read a reservation. If you're considering Lupo, don't assume they'll actually review your reservation before the day of your visit. We won't be giving them another chance. read more

We came here on a whim to find a nice place to eat as we were on our way to Lake Louise. We walked around town to find a place to eat and my wife loves Italian, so we tried to walk in at about 6pm. Luckily for us, there was an open seat (reservation are highly recommended.. it was packed). We were greeted by the waiter who gave us the choice of sparkling or still water. Fancy schmancy. We got the still house water. The place was packed, full, and a bit loud, but also romantic given the atmosphere and the views. Good place to take a date, but not a good place if you wanted a private booth/moment. I ordered the seafood linguine, and my wife ordered the spicy rigatoni alla vodka. We also ordered the little gem caesar to share, and she also go the coffee martini for her drink. I got soda. The caesar came out and it was one of the best caesars I had. It was presented by having two baby heads of romaine lettuce covered with caesar dressing. Very tasty and creamy. Very very good! Next time, I am going to order one for just myself! Only eating one baby romaine head left me wanting more! After the salad, the pastas came out and the seafood linguine was remarkable! Presented as a bundle of linguini with seafood on the sides, all covered in white wine/clam sauce. One of THE BEST seafood linguines I have ever tried! My wife's spicy rigatoni was spicy and had a kick (I am Thai so take that for what it's worth). My wife thought it was a bit too spicy for her, but overall the dish was meh. Reminds me of the pasta alla vodka at Cheesecake Factory, but without the sausage. I do believe if there was an option to add sausage, the dish would've been 100x better. The dish just got bland the more you ate it. And because of this, I ended up eating the rigatoni, and my wife ate the linguini lol. Just kidding.. kinda. My favorites perhaps were the morel pizza (the dough is sourdough and rlllyyyyy good) and one of my top 5 caesar salads ive had (Not that i have a lot cuz i also dont tend to order at restaurants, but this was spectacular - really delicious dressing and crunchy lettuce, non fishy anchovies). I stumbled upon Lupo while searching Google for a nice dinner restaurant in Banff. Sorry Yelp, but, hardly anyone uses you in Alberta. They are located upstairs in the Cascade Shops. They seemed like they were separate from the mall with no direct access to the mall itself. Reservations were made about a month in advance. When we arrived, we were promptly seated. We ordered their seafood linguine and their halibut. The halibut was their fish of the day. The halibut was cooked in their Josper oven which kept the fish moist. The seafood linguine was full of shrimp, scallop, crabmeat and clams. My wife really enjoyed it. My only complaint was that their portions were a little small. Service was good. Our waiter was nice and tried making conversation with us. He kept our glasses full and checked up on us. It would be five stars if only they gave a little more. read more

We got a gorgeous table with a beautiful view of the outside on the second floor- perfect table to celebrate my mom's anniversary! The service was spectacular. I don't think I caught our server's name, but I just know she's from Montreal. She gave me recommendations for bagel places to try in Montreal, and she was attentive throughout the meal. Our hostess actually gave us great pasta recommendations. I loved loved loved the pesto pasta. Both pastas we got were made perfectly, and it brought me right back to Italy. I also don't usually like tiramisu. It's something I will try one bite and not touch again just because I don't like the texture. But THIS tiramisu was phenomenal. Reservations are needed and they fill up fast, so if you want to eat here, - and you will want to eat here - prepare in advance. Italian themed, everything is homemade and it's delicious. We started with the Caprese salad. The cheese was so light and fluffy. Tomatoes fresh. Excellent. Pair this with the focaccia bread and you get a nice mix of textures. Loved the warm and crusty bread. Next came our entrees. I chose the pesto Campanella and husband had the Roseline which was rolled lasagna. We loved our meals. The noodles were perfect in mine, holding a bit of pesto sauce (but not too much) and a few pine nuts in every bite. So good. We skipped dessert because we were so full after the entree but the caramel dessert was catching my eye. Service was excellent. Get the pizza here!! We made a reservation late at night but were able to get seated a tad earlier when we arrived. The inside is massive and well decorated, and the ambiance is super nice. I got the diavola pizza, and my friends got the caccio e pepe, carbonara, and sausage pastas. I must say the pizza was by far the best - the flavor was so perfectly balanced of spicy sweet salty and tangy, and the sourdough crust was probably the best I've ever had. It was crispy yet chewy and fluffy, and the flavor was so delicious even on its own. Amongst the pastas, they were all good but nothing stood out to me too much. We also got the focaccia which was pretty good, but the pizza crust was even better. The interior on the second floor is a typical modern casual Italian ambiance. Service was very friendly but the food took quite a while to get out and it took a long time between visits from our server to order and to get our cheque. This was my favorite dish from our visit! winter squash pizza -- this sounded so unique so we had to try it! It was flavorful, and the star was definitely the crust!! After a full day of touring and hiking around beautiful Banff, all we wanted was some amazing Italian food, and Yelp led us straight to Lupo. What a fantastic find! We were seated quickly despite not having a reservation, and everything from that point on was smooth, fast, and delicious. Also, anything you order, add Burratta to it because their Burrata is so good and makes everything even more better! I added it to my spicy rigatoni pasta, and my mom had the pizza. When we first came in, they set us at a high top and we requested a low top which they were so gracious to let us switch tables. I felt bad because it also switched our waitress, but both of our backs were very uncomfortable on the high top tables. Atmosphere is OK. We came here during happy hour from 4 to 5 PM since we couldn't secure a reservation online. They do take walk ins and have a waitlist for anyone who is flexible with their schedule. There was a line when we arrived as many people had the same idea but we got a table right away. During happy hour, they offer three different pasta dishes, five pizzas, and two antipasti dishes/salads. There was a great selection of discounted alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks. The caprese salad was okay that needed a bit of salt. The happy hour pasta dishes were quite salty and both tasted almost the same to me.
