Mushroom Toast

Great experience! Thanks for accommodating our large party fairly last minute. My friends and I sampled most of the menu, and the standout dishes were the mushroom toast, pork belly, ginger beef and mushroom cheese sticks. Good service and cute ambiance.

Yum is all I have to say! Everything was super tasty, and the view was fantastic. We got the ginger beef (which came on fire!), schaffers fish and chips, roasted carrots, and roasted chicken. Our favorite was definitely the ginger beef, and our waiter was super fun. He let us know that around 1/10 shishito peppers are spicy, so every time my partner and I ate a shishito pepper we would bet if it would be spicy or not (they were actually all sweet!!) and made our dinner extra exciting :) whether you're here for a romantic dinner, drinks, or a family outing it was super enjoyable and would recommend for any occasion.

My husband and I found this restaurant through the Yelp app and decided to give it a try. Brazen is located in the Mount Royal Hotel at the corner of Banff Avenue and Caribou Street. Their interior has a contemporary design with and themed around Canadian mountaineering and timber. We did reserve for a table for dinner to guarantee seating. Check-in was quick and the hostess sat us in a table overlooking the avenue. Their menu is pretty decent and the selections are categorized under small plates (starters), large plates (entrees), and enhancements (sides). Their drink menu features craft cocktails, beer, wine, and non-alcoholic options. The happy hour menus has some their signature dishes and a few cocktails. We ordered a couple strawberry margaritas and the kimchi meatballs to start. The margaritas were refreshing. The chili coconut puree was subtle and elevated the drink. The kimchi meatballs were tender and gone within a few bites. We ordered the ginger beef to share and got more than the normal plating. Our server flambéed the ginger beef table side with bourbon. The theatrics already won us over. The taste was amazing. The was beef was tender and savory with a hint of smoky flavor. Their dessert menu featured 3 options. We went for the lemon tart which was made with French sablé, italian meringue, and blueberry coulis. Perfect balance of sweet and tart with an added crunchy texture. Our final drink was a vesper martini and it was properly made. Service was phenomenal. Our server always checked in and provided great recommendations. The bill came in a envelop stamped THE DAMAGE. The actually made us chuckle. Overall, experience was amazing!

A 5pm dinner reservation meant we were there in time for happy hour! It also meant the restaurant wasn't very crowded, which was a nice change because we found everything to be pretty crowded in Banff this time of year. We had spoken to some lovely ladies on the bus from the Fairmont to town about their dinner at Brazen the night before. They told us the ginger beef was very tasty, but also very large. We decided to share that along with an order of mushroom toast. And some drinks from the happy hour menu of course. Both plates were really good and complimented each other well. They lit the beef on fire, which was also a nice touch. We found everyone we met in Banff to be super friendly and the staff here was no exception. We skipped out on dessert, although the menu looked tasty, and opted to get in the line (again crowds) for ice cream at Cows next door. Overall, a great first dinner in Banff. I did notice they had a lovely brunch menu as well. We were lucky to get complimentary breakfast at our hotel so never ate brunch out, but good to know for the future.

Happy Hour 5 plates - cauliflower, pork belly, meatballs, polenta fries, ginger beef

We came here for a quick afternoon snack and they had a happy hour menu. Happy Hour 5 plates - cauliflower, pork belly, meatballs, polenta fries, ginger beef - the cauliflower was great. Fried crispy but not oily. - pork belly was tasty though a bit too crunchy. - polenta fries were awesome. Light and very well done. Tasty with some hint of truffle. - meatballs were fine, nothing quite special. It was a fair place for drinks and happy hour snacks.

We had a delicious meal here last night. We shared four items, a 'small plate', a large plate, and two accompaniments. Each one was unique and nicely presented. We got bison kofta with a Zatar yogurt sauce, pickled onions, pita bread and couscous. The large plate was the mushroom tagliatelle. And the accompaniments were green beans and corn made the ways. The mushroom pasta was soooooo delicious. Ok I'm a mushroom fan. I think there were more mushrooms than pasta in the dish. It had a light sauce to hold it together. To die for. The corn dish was so unique we had to try it. Polenta 'fries', fresh corn kernels, and, wait for it, pop corn. Yup. And it was delicious together. Finally, we had some unique and fun cocktails as well. Overall a fabulous dining experience.

The food tastes really good. I recommend the ginger beef and stuffed mushrooms! These were my favorite dishes here. They even perform a fire show for the dish. Drinks were also really good. The service is fast considering how busy they were. Food came out in a timely manner. It's very clean inside. There is paid parking behind the building. It's located under a hotel building.

Stellar brunch right in the middle of town! We had a great view of the mountains and downtown Banff from our table. The shaft cocktail here was the best we tried around town, and so artsy! I enjoyed my breakfast thoroughly - the poached eggs were cooked perfectly and the ham to potato to bread ratio was perfect. I also enjoyed the Banff coffee roasters coffee! Our waitress was so kind and social, making for a delightful first morning in Banff :)

Avocado toast was delicious. Two pieces of Sourdough toast with an avocado spread plus sliced fresh avocado with two poached eggs, a dollop of goat cheese, arugula, cherry tomatoes, pickled onion, and pomegranate seeds on top. I would eat here again. Atmosphere is casual and pleasant. Music is playing through the speakers. Service was great. Staff is very pleasant.

Brazen is an excellent restaurant with a nice vibe and flavorful, delicious, and beautifully presented servings. They have smaller and larger plates and the idea is to share them family style here and that was perfect for our party of 3. We learned during our trip that our nephew was coincidentally also vacationing and staying in Banff and though we had different touristy daytime itineraries we met up with him for both of our nice Banff dinners. In a popular tourist town like Banff, I would recommend making reservations for prime time at any of the nicer restaurants and that is what I did. Sophie was our server and Mitch was the host manager and they were both very friendly and attentive folks. Sophie hailed from England and you could tell from her nice accent. We ordered 3 smaller plates - mushroom caps, bison, and pork belly. We also ordered 2 larger plates - their sablefish and ginger beef, and a side of snap peas. All were tip top delicious and beautiful to boot. I also had a delectable Canmore Brewing Ten Peaks pale ale. The dining room was vibrant and deservedly packed and we had a wonderful dinner. Thank you!

Brazen is centrally located in downtown Banff. We went for brunch, and were seated immediately. The service at was wonderful; our waiter was very kind, attentive, and provided thoughtful menu recommendations. Brazen offered a variety of menu options for brunch; my partner ordered advocacy toast and I ordered poached eggs with a tomato sauce and side of potatoes. The tomatoes sauce was a unique addition to the poached eggs, and I thought it was quite enjoyable. The inside had a moody, mid century modern vibe, with plenty of seating. Would definitely recommend!

Hilarious that the bill comes in an envelope labelled "The Damage"

Hello Sunshine

One roll had perfectly grilled pieces on top with avocado that added a nice smoky flavor, while the other had a great crunchy texture that balanced everything out really well. I also ordered what I believe was a matcha drink, and it paired perfectly with the meal. It was smooth, refreshing, and a nice contrast to the richness of the sushi. Everything tasted high quality and thoughtfully prepared. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, and the whole place had a great vibe. Definitely a spot worth checking out if you're in Banff and craving good sushi and a solid matcha drink. Service was great. But a little slow

3 stars because this place is all about the ambiance, and I really appreciated that. Beautiful…read moremid-century millennial vibes. Warm cozy fires. Karaoke rooms available for large groups with high minimum spends. However, when it comes to the food, I've got issues. The happy hour menu boasts several discounted (half price) sushi rolls, which sound great. However, in execution, they are flooded with mayonnaise (not included in the menu's ingredients). This adds so much extra salt and oil to the sushi that it drowns out the true flavor of the fish. For the first time in my life, I couldn't finish my sushi, and I had no desire to eat any leftovers. Also, reservations are not required, but they definitely help (and require a credit card reservation). If you show up for happy hour, get there early, becasue the space fills up fast!
