Bridgette Bar in Canmore offers a cozy ambiance paired with a creative, flavor-forward menu--a perfect night out in the Rockies.
Street parking is limited in this newly developed area of Canmore, and potential residential construction is still ongoing in certain sections. I recommend making an early reservation through the OpenTable app or contacting the restaurant directly.
Upon entering, the hostess stand is positioned directly ahead. The dining area is expansive, extending toward the back left of the establishment. To the immediate left of the hostess stand is the main bar, which features a centrally located fireplace. I found the interior décor to be elegant, complemented by soft, ambient lighting. An outdoor patio is also available; however, it was not in use due to inclement weather. According to a previous review on Yelp, the patio may be reserved exclusively for patrons accompanied by pets.
FOOD:
1. Eggplant Fries (3/5): There are 6 pieces, finished with a crispy bite. Still, the accompanying green harissa yogurt sauce gave it a flavorful lift. It was OK.
2. Garlic Bread (4/5): Surprisingly memorable for a cheese curd. Rich and buttery in the best way. It's elevated comfort food done right.
3. Wood Grilled Carrots (5/5): Sweet and perfectly tender. I loved the crunch from the cooked chickpeas. The seasoning and char brought these humble roots to life. Don't skip this!
4. Spiced Beet Salad (4/5): Fresh and well-balanced, with a hint of sweetness and spice. Great textures and plating.
5. Fennel Salami Pizza (4/5): It is a thin crust with a nice chew, and the fennel salami added a bold, slightly spicy note. It was satisfying with a great mix of onions, chili, and caramelized honey. I would order this again.
6. Grilled Lamb Saddle (4/5): There were 6 pieces of lamb, which were juicy. It comes with potato salad, greens, labneh, and mint.
7. Maple BBQ Rainbow Trout (5/5): Hands down the best of the night! The fish was flavorful, and the maple BBQ glaze struck a perfect balance between sweet and smoky. I would order this again.
8. Banana Pie (3/5): A decent finish--nostalgic and creamy, though a bit one-note. It could have used a textural element in it.
The service was just OK. We found ourselves looking for the server a few times for extra water, and then when we wanted to order more.
Would I come back? Yes!
