To be honest, when we got out of the car and I saw that the restaurant was located inside a hotel, I didn't think it would be a great meal. Boy, was I sooo wrong! This was hands down, my favorite meal of my trip. The staff was welcoming off the bat. We had a large party but was seated relatively quick. We started off our meal with the Chef's Signature Mussels and Pulled Pork Poutine. I liked the gravy in the poutine. The mussels were bathed in a sauce. Do dip your bread in it and go wild! My son normally doesn't like seafood but he couldn't stop eating the mussels. They have weekly specials on their website. Definitely check it out before you make a visit over! We went on Thursday and it was pasta night specials for $20. We tried the Clam Linguine, Carbonara, and Linguini Bolognese. The Clam Linguine was the lightest of the pastas. There was a good amount of clams. The Carbonara was extremely rich and probably the least favorite of the three. I thoroughly enjoyed the Linguini Bolognese. The pasta was cooked al dente and the flavors were so deep and comforting. The Braised Alberta Pork Ribs in a Root Beer Glaze was tasty too. You can really taste the root beer flavor so if that's not your thing, you should skip this dish. My son kept raving about this meal for the rest of our trip! I can't wait to come back to see more of Canada and of course to have another delicious meal here. read more

Hands down the best food in Canmore. Honestly, I don't know how this place isn't rated #1. I tried several of the other top-rated spots during my week-long stay, and every time I did, I wished I had just eaten here instead. Everything is executed incredibly well: flavorful food, nice plating, great ambiance, and good service. I had the poutine (the best I've had), the pulled pork burger, the steak, plus the tiramisu, cheesecake, and crème brûlée. Everything was spectacular. My only suggestion? We began our meal with the hot honey spring rolls, which were excellent--crispy, flavorful, and a great start to the evening. For the main course, I ordered a half rack of BBQ ribs. Unfortunately, the ribs were dry. However, our server (Ronnie) responded quickly and professionally, immediately offering an alternative. I opted for the schnitzel, which was outstanding--perfectly cooked and generously portioned. While the initial dish was disappointing, the exceptional service and the quality of the replacement more than made up for it. A great dinner spot within walking distance from our hotel. I love how they have specials each day, so we came here on Thursday to try their pasta deal for $14.95 for a select pasta item. We got seated almost immediately upon arrival around 6:00 p.m. I ordered the clam linguine and my husband had the chicken alfredo. I also ordered the smoke Caesar salad for appetizer to share. I got to try one of their cocktails and my husband had a beer. We sat pretty close to the kitchen so we saw the workers working hard and figuring everything's out. The pasta was good, for that price point it's definitely worth it. The clam linguine reminded me of cioppino with the clam juice blended with tomatoes and other spices/veggies. Very good. My husband's chicken Alfredo tasted great. We were pleased with our meal and was full. The service was good, I saw that the staff was trying to keep up with hectic pace of a restaurant. From our observation, it seems like each worker was trying to do a bit of everything. Tons of food were left sitting under the heat lamp. We walked here as we were unsure where we could park. It is in the hotel lobby. Not a ton of seating but was only 50% full on a Friday night. Waitress was kind and refilled our waters during the meal. Boyfriend and I got the Pork Schnitzel. Quite pricey but it fed us both. 2 pieces of schnitzel so easy to share. Surprised to see a large variety of cooked vegetables and all were really tasty. Sauce was good too. 9/10 not the Best I have ever had but close. Friend got the Chicken Alfredo and loved it. Great service at this restaurant located inside the Grande Rockies Resort. It was burger night when we visited so three of us ordered the burgers -- one vegetarian and two hot chicken. My husband's hot chicken patty was very small -- almost half the size of son's but they both said it was delicious. Son subbed poutine for his chips and enjoyed. The homemade chips were cooked perfectly. The description of the vegetarian burger sounded very flavorful but it was crispy, fried and with not much flavor. I did appreciate that they had gluten free buns. My other two kids ordered pizzas. My daughter loved her Black Forest pizza and dubbed it the "fanciest" pizza she had ever had. Son enjoyed his with pepperoni and chicken. The water cups were very small and our waiter had to refill them frequently. Overall good food for reasonable prices and good service. The first night we got the Funghi pasta which was delicious, and the salmon Caesar salad, also delicious, and the spicy Thai wings which were of course delicious. We stopped in for dinner after a long day hiking and were blown away by how good the food was at Grande. It's unassuming as part of a hotel, but don't judge its lack of street presence! We're always leery of restaurants that have too much "fusion", i.e, Asian, Italian, Indian, but this is the first place that does them all justice. I had the Asian salad with chicken and my husband had the pasta with meatballs. Both were really excellent! The Asian salad greens were so fresh that I didn't spot one brown spot and it was even topped with micro greens. The dressing was excellent. My husband's meatballs were very flavorful and had that delicious crust on them that the best chefs perfect. The sauce was so good and the pasta was al dente - perfect. We called to make a reservation and thankfully we did as it was extremely busy. It was our first night in Alberta and let me tell you The Grande Kitchen and Bar made a great first impression. The server was probably one of the nicest servers I have ever had in any restaurant. Very kind and helpful and very interested that we were tourists in her town. She gave us lots of tips as to what to see in the area. The restaurant was pretty upscale but not too fancy and formal. Everything on the menu looked great. We started off with a very interesting appetizer. Thai stuffed chicken wings. They were quite interesting but truly amazing. They were stuffed chicken wings stuffed with pork, rice, carrot, mushroom and was served with a sweet chili peanut dip. These were incredible. Nothing like I have ever had before. Bursting with flavor in every bite. For my entree I had the Spicy Meatball Pasta but the meat balls were made from wild boar meat. Once again this made my taste buds go crazy. I can go on and on about the Grande Kitchen and Bar but I will be here for ever so I will leave you with this. Attached to the Grand Rockies Resort, I wasn't too sure about this place. I was never more wrong. There were 10 in our party and the dishes we ordered ranged from salads to pasta to ribs. Each dish was delicious and seasoned beautifully. The portions were generous without feeling ridiculous. I ordered the short ribs. They were slightly sweet with a good kick and fall off the bone tender. I asked for the chef veggies to be subbed with their side salad and they kindly obliged. The salad was fresh and the dressing was tart which helped to balance the rich rib meat. Two in our party ordered the pulled pork sandwich and hardly talked the entire meal because they were so engrossed with their sandwich. They could not stop raving about it after the meal. We visited this restaurant twice during our stay, once for dinner and once for breakfast. I wasn't thrilled with the pulled pork sandwich i ordered for dinner, but my husband loved his bacon burger. We both loved the tiramisu, though. And breakfast was delicious, we ordered the monte cristo and a poached egg bowl. Both times our service was excellent. Our waiter kept our water glasses filled and even gave us an excellent recommendation for sights to see during our visit to the local area parks. My boyfriend and I are staying within walking distance from this restaurant while in Canmore. We decided to walk over and try it since we wouldn't have to worry about driving/parking and because they had a lot of positive reviews. The restaurant was not busy and we were sat immediately. The menu is fairly large with dishes ranging from pasta, burgers, salads, appetizers, etc. My boyfriend decided to order the chicken alfredo and I ordered the smoked Caesar salad with chicken. Both dishes were so underwhelming. The caesar was a head of romaine with a few slides of grilled chicken and some dressing on it, and I think I saw a few croutons in there as well. The chicken alfredo was dry and not impressive for the price. At one point my boyfriend stated "i could make myself a better chicken alfredo for $5". The service was nothing great either. Our waiter had our table and another couple, yet we still had to flag him down to ask for our check, and to ask for a pen to sign the receipt. The only reason we gave this place 2 stars is because of convenience if you're staying in the area. Service was not great, and the food was not worth the price. There are a lot of positive reviews about this place, so I'm hoping our experience was just a fluke. If you're visiting Canmore, I would suggest going elsewhere.
