Sure. this place is cool but no! Yay, a real beer bar in the SE!…read more While I was excited last year for Craft opening at South Centre and no longer having to venture downtown for a good beer experience, I'm even more excited for these guys opening stumbling-ish distance from my house. What's really great about Beer Revolution and working in my favour, is that my non-beer drinking wife loves their pizza. So I get to come try a bunch of brews and she gets a Wilbur. So much winning for my family. We came Wednesday night, opening night, for dinner and went early as we expected it to be busy. The patio was about half full but otherwise there were only a few tables inside that were taken. The former Chili's, former Kelsey's, building hasn't changed on the outside other than a great new paint job, but the inside is now completely open with a giant oval bar in the (almost) middle of the space. There's lots of booths around the perimeter. a good number of TV's showing whatever game is on, and the patio has a dozen or so tables with umbrellas. For their opening the beer list was dominated by local options, though more of the seasonal selections. Like Tool Shed's Double Tap DIPA instead of say Star Cheek or Red Rage. But as I write this a couple days later, the beer list may have changed a bunch already as they're constantly tapping new, fresh kegs. In addition to the aforementioned Wilbur pizza, it was also wing night. I went with a pound of the apple bbq flavour. Really great apple flavour. Seems like there's some apple sauce mixed in to the bbq sauce instead of just juice or whatever apple flavouring many places use. Service was good, though having just opened there's a few bugs to work out. Nothing bad worth mentioning.

5-Star Review: Leopold Tavern - A Stellar New Addition to Calgary's Southeast Scene!…read moreLeopold Tavern 4025 Market St SE, Calgary, AB T3M 1M4 Opened: November 24, 2025 (10/10 - If I could, I'd give more!) I couldn't wait to check out the shiny new Leopold Tavern in Mahogany after their grand opening yesterday - especially since I've been a fan of their other Calgary spots for years. Supporting local growth is always a win, and let me tell you, this location didn't just meet my expectations; it absolutely crushed them on day one. From the moment we walked in, the energy was welcoming and spot-on. The bartender and the manager personally greeted us with genuine smiles, making us feel like regulars right away. No awkward waits or rushed vibes - just smooth, efficient service that kept everything flowing without interrupting our chat. We dove into the Southwest Burrito Bowl (blackened chicken, Mexican-spiced rice, black beans, pico de gallo, guacamole, feta, chipotle mayo, crispy tortilla strips, and that zingy jalapeño lime kale slaw), finished with a drizzle of honey ancho dressing. Oh man - it was sumptuous. Every bite was a flavor explosion: fresh, perfectly seasoned, and served at that ideal hot-but-not-scorching temperature. The portions were generous, the textures played off each other beautifully (those tortilla strips? Chef's kiss), and it left me satisfied without feeling stuffed. If you're a fan of bold, Southwest-inspired eats, this bowl is a must-order. The decor stays true to the classic Leopold charm - cozy, upscale pub feels with warm lighting and those signature wooden accents that make you want to linger. The music? Spot-on playlist of chill indie tracks at just the right volume - background ambiance, not a competing concert. Mid-meal, the manager swung by to check in, and we had a quick, friendly chat about the spot. That's when a fellow diner finishing up his plate chimed in with the ultimate unsolicited endorsement: "I've been in the restaurant industry for over 20 years, and I just ate the best beef burger of my life." For a brand-new opening? That's the kind of buzz that sticks. If Leopold's track record wasn't enough, this fresh outpost proves they're nailing it from the jump. Service, food, vibe - all flawless. I'll be back soon with friends (and probably ordering that burger next time). Huge props to the team for a seamless launch. Calgary's southeast just got a gem! Highly recommend.

Btw I was a class clown love the name of this burger joint from entry to exit the hollistic about experience is engaging and stimulating. From the bright neon lights of the out door signage to the double entry passage, this 70's blue collar kitchy decor and mood lighting and just overall chill vibe had me telling myself I haven't been to a cooler burger joint than today! Drink selection is screaming "you will not be found wanting" they had sodas, juices, liquor, beer, mutha effing wine! Wine!!! I saw the little fridge with all the wines and I knew right then and there this place was special as Class Clowns customers came from all walks of life. Sitting there I noticed I wasn't the only solo missionary to satisfy our hunger. I also saw two tables of young collage aged friends, a small table with two pairs of couples, and two mature couples. I wasn't fortunate enough to witness anyone order a glass of wine wine with their meal. But none the less We all gathered in union under the class clown roof to fill our bellies. I ordered a lager pointed into a frosted mug. Pounded that early and just enjoyed water cuz DUI's aren't ever coo. By the time I was half way done with my beer the burger and fries were arrived and my eyes couldn't believe how beautiful it all looked together. the fries were barely able to fit in the bowl topped with this sweet and savory meaty meat sauce giving a sloppy Joe type vibe, for some reason I was expecting a Detroit style chili with some heat on it but that's okay cuz I'm in Calgary Canada and when in Calgary... the fries were the old skool crinkle with amazing crispy and snap even with the meat sauce it didn't get soggy. The fries despite not aligning with my anticipated flavor it was amazing and a must get side order when coming here! The dounke burger looked too sexy to mess with, from the toasted sesame bun, the melted gooey sliced American cheese, grilled sliced onions, shredded lettuce, and the main event the smashed burger but not paper thin was still able to have an amazing crispy edge and texture all the while maintaining juiciness. Close your eyes take a bite and one would feel transported to sunny Southern California but in reality its home is in Calgary spoiling and making these "calgarians" proud! The service was fast amazing and chill! The ladies made sure everyone was taken care of I can't wait to get back to Calgary and Class Clown burgers definitely will be one of my first stops!
