Btw I was a class clown love the name of this burger joint from entry to exit the hollistic about experience is engaging and stimulating. From the bright neon lights of the out door signage to the double entry passage, this 70's blue collar kitchy decor and mood lighting and just overall chill vibe had me telling myself I haven't been to a cooler burger joint than today! Drink selection is screaming "you will not be found wanting" they had sodas, juices, liquor, beer, mutha effing wine! Wine!!! I saw the little fridge with all the wines and I knew right then and there this place was special as Class Clowns customers came from all walks of life. Sitting there I noticed I wasn't the only solo missionary to satisfy our hunger. I also saw two tables of young collage aged friends, a small table with two pairs of couples, and two mature couples. I wasn't fortunate enough to witness anyone order a glass of wine wine with their meal. But none the less We all gathered in union under the class clown roof to fill our bellies. I ordered a lager pointed into a frosted mug. Pounded that early and just enjoyed water cuz DUI's aren't ever coo. By the time I was half way done with my beer the burger and fries were arrived and my eyes couldn't believe how beautiful it all looked together. the fries were barely able to fit in the bowl topped with this sweet and savory meaty meat sauce giving a sloppy Joe type vibe, for some reason I was expecting a Detroit style chili with some heat on it but that's okay cuz I'm in Calgary Canada and when in Calgary... the fries were the old skool crinkle with amazing crispy and snap even with the meat sauce it didn't get soggy. The fries despite not aligning with my anticipated flavor it was amazing and a must get side order when coming here! The dounke burger looked too sexy to mess with, from the toasted sesame bun, the melted gooey sliced American cheese, grilled sliced onions, shredded lettuce, and the main event the smashed burger but not paper thin was still able to have an amazing crispy edge and texture all the while maintaining juiciness. Close your eyes take a bite and one would feel transported to sunny Southern California but in reality its home is in Calgary spoiling and making these "calgarians" proud! Not worth the wait in my opinion. We put ourselves on the waitlist and waited an hour. It's great they have a digital waitlist system and we got there when we were 6th in line and they got us in right away so that was amazing service. I have no issues with the customer service at all. However, I was just shocked how lack luster the burger and super duper the fries were compared to the wait. I also have had my good share of burgers especially living in Orange County for a few years so my standards are quite high but I honestly thought lil empire burgers and their dirty fries were way better and no need to wait 1.5hours. The super duper fries I didn't love because the meat sauce was quite sweet. Nothing special about the smash burger and I don't like an over sesamed bun. I thought the bun to meat ratio was off. Ambiance / location / parking: My friend Jeff suggested this place yesterday at 11 AM and we went to beat the crowds. We landed there at 11:15 and got seated right away - NO WAITING if you are early. Bit of a smaller place inside than expected, but they now have outdoor seating and for nice hot days, it's probably where I would request to be seated next time. One cautionary note on the parking if you are using the lot right adjacent to the restaurant. it says you can pay via the PayByPhone App. So we went inside and I tried paying by this app for about 5 minutes. I gave up and went out to use the pay machine. JUST IN TIME - the guy was their taking a picture of my license plate to give me a ticket. I showed him the app issues and told him I was trying to pay by the app and now I was using the machine. He glared at me and said I had 2 minutes to do it and I needed to show him the stub in order to avoid the $75 ticket. So I did this and all was good again. CAUTION: for some reason, this location and app are not good friends and while you are struggling with it, this guy may come by and ticket you. On our way out, we saw a few other cars / trucks that had tickets on their windshields. USE THE MACHINE - it takes credit cards. This is an independent lot not run by Class Clown so they cannot assist. Service: very friendly and efficient. We were seated and served almost immediately and given water while we decided what else we wanted. Everyone was pretty friendly and this place had a great vibe. Food: Amazing smash burgers and doubly amazing crinkle cut fries. I am a crinkle cut fries fan. I have sourced out the four or five burger places that offer these types of fries as these are a definite preference. Couple of other places are Inglewood DI and Rosie's. Anyways, I ordered the McD dupe. No bloody way should this be compared in any way to McD. This burger was basic but so beyond the description I have heard put to it. My description would be a smash burger with a very definite crisp and crunch - very good. Fries, basic and poutine-wise was also A-one. Pictures below, my burger had a bite taken out of it already. Overall: 5/5 it was a great experience and we will def go again. To make my burger 100% perfect, I will ask for mushrooms next time. Otherwise, I would go with the same order. Class Clown does smashed burgers right- perfectly crispy edges and juicy meat, leaving leave you so satisfied. I'm not normally one to fawn over a burger, but my California Classic Burger was simply perfect for what I needed, topped with a "trillion island" sauce, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, and onion. We also ordered the super duper fries, which come doused in a heavenly cheese sauce and topped with crispy cheezie bits. Adding chopped jalapeno chilies on the fries also elevated this dish to another level. Being a waitlist-only / walk-up restaurant, snagging a spot can be tricky. Highly recommend putting yourself on the waitlist online ahead of time, as there was a 75 min wait for our table of 3 when we put our names down at ~3:45pm on a Sunday and got sat at around 5pm. We also ordered a side of Super Duper fries, which were good, though I personally prefer poutine. We finished with a malt chocolate ice cream, which wasn't my favorite--I wish they had more flavor options available. The downside is that the restaurant is super tiny, leading to a very long waitlist. One trick to get in is to go right at opening. You can also monitor the waitlist at opening and be nearby, as you'll only have five minutes to arrive once you're notified. Overall, it's a good burger place. This is one of the best burgers I have had. I ordered the California burger with super duper fries. The hamburger came with a double patty, the sauces were oozing out as I cut it in half. The meat tasted very simple with the seasonings but was very flavorful nothing extra was needed. I would pass of the super duper fries next time and order either regular fries or super fries. I was not a huge fan of the corney sauce. It was very sweet initially and it slowly grows on your but not until you're about half way done with your fries. One of the downsides of this is the long wait time for your food. I ordered a fry and burger and it took over an hour to come out. The food was delicious but was it worth the 20 minute wait outside along with an hour for the food to come out- that's questionable. The restaurant is small and cozy it transported me back to an old school diner. read more

Just a nice spot! The service is incredible, and the menu is delightfully limited: anything that you order will be excellent, so you don't need that many options. I had been looking forward to Class Clown opening in what had been the Burger Inn space for years (decades?) and I'm happy to report that CC is outstanding. Miraculously good, maybe the best burger I've had in Canada. I got the "Donald McRonald" which is a riff on McDs double quarter pounder but this is indescribably better. Meat is ground in house, pickles made in house, buns custom baked, I could go on and on but I must recommend this place as urgently as I can. This burger SLAYED me; it ruined me for every other burger. There's a lot more on the menu I'd like to try including two versions of fish and chicken burgers and at least five beef ones (and one veggie burger) and I look forward to those, but for now I'm in the afterglow of that simple cheeseburger. Perfect smash, perfect buttery buns, just perfection in general. Second visit: had the California Classic burger, which comes with "mustard-grilled patties" and fried onions. I can't believe it, but this burger is even better than the Donald McRonald. I was in ecstasy eating it- perhaps the single best burger of my entire life, and I'm almost 60. When I arrived, found my good buddy apoplectic and confounded by the awful and unexpected treatment at the Clown. My brother from another is a well mannered, conservatively dressed, and disarmingly respectful individual. He doesn't present as threatening or indigent and certainly doesn't have the affect of a day drunk. Therefore I was astounded, shocked, and appalled at the mistreatment he encountered from the female (only referencing gender for staff identification purposes) server after attempting to seat himself at a table. Yes, after paying $5 to park, only to be subjected to rude behaviour by Clown, my good mate saw the sign outside stating that people need to check in to restaurant, if he knew this beforehand he would've conducted the mandatory sign in and retina scan to be allowed to give patronage to Clown. I wasn't cognizant that Mission had become East Hastings and one had to check in like they were going into a corrections centre. Regardless of whether the lockdown mentality of Clown was warranted, it still doesn't justify belligerence on behalf of its staff. Needless to say we squandered his $5 paid for parking and went to EAT at SAUCY BURGER instead. SAUCY BURGER had PLEASANT STAFF and good burgers. We had a couple of California burgers (basically a double cheeseburger) and shared a cheesy fries for lunch today. It's a sit down and order off the menu place with patio, which is a plus. Paid public parking on street and small shared public lot behind the restaurant. Great service! Attentive and friendly staff. It was a bit slow, so I can't speak on how service would be if the place was busy. As for the burgers... they were a bit too greasy for my taste. I'm assuming they use 80/20 patties. It came with grilled onions so that could be why they were extra greasy. The patties don't seem to be seasoned with anything other than salt. I could be wrong, but I didn't pick up on any other seasonings. The grilled onions were not seasoned at all. So no layers of flavor... Mind you my taste buds are not the same post Covid. (I used to be a super taster, but no more.) I typically like the chard flavor on burgers and these didn't have it. They came on yummy fresh buns, fresh tomatoes, fresh shredded iceberg lettuce, crisp pickles, and loads of thousand dressing. Overall a good burger, but not excellent, and not even close to the best I've ever had. French fries were crispy and fresh but the cheese sauce was a bit off for us. The waitress said it was a house cheese sauce, but it tasted a bit like plastic to be honest. We had to eat the fries around the sauce and left half of the fries behind, which is not typical for us.
