I've never had a bad meal yet. Only once did I have bad service but that was rectified quickly by another server very quickly. It's a fun place to go with everyone talking and laughing. I ordered the buffalo poutine (which was absolutely dumped in sauce and seemed more like a soup), the fig and pear salad (which was missing the nuts and then brought to me after I mentioned it, the pears were still all attached together, and honestly it just felt like it was made in 10 seconds and not a high quality salad at all), kids meals which were made out of the strangest tasting beef I've ever had (think of spam ... my kids didn't like it. We had spaghetti meatballs and cheeseburger. Both were made out of the same strange meat.) Other factors: so many tables are near the door and you'll keep hearing the doorbell every time someone walks in and you'll keep feeling the cold draft every few minutes. Service was great. The service at The 4th Spot was exceptional on this, my first visit. It's a local pub for this cozy Mt Pleasant neighborhood. The harsh early Feb temperatures outside made the cozy, welcoming atmosphere within even more welcoming. There's a $5 Happy Hour menu with personal pizzas, chicken nugget bites variously seasoned, quesadillas, fries, etc. Come between 5 and 6 pm. You may want to come a bit earlier to get a choice of seating as the place quickly fills up. At least, it does on a Friday evening. The food is not bad. Not gourmet, but it's solid, satisfying pub grub at a good value. The beer selection is decent for those who like craft beers. I was pleased to have the Wild Rose cherry porter on tap. It was delicious. The cherry taste was full, rich, and not sweet perfect! My friend chose the Pinot grigio that she enjoyed. We also sampled the Scottish Wee Heavy that was a good representative of the style. It's nice to know that there's a choice of things on tap for those who like heavier, more robust beers. The servers were spot-on with the service. You can tell they know well how to keep the thirsty and hungry patrons fed and watered. What is more impressive is how they kept the great service timing going ever through the very busy Friday night crowd. I placed an order for pickup from the 4th Spot. I ordered the Jalapeno Mushroom Meltdown Burger which is an AAA Certified Alberta beef patty, which includes sautéed mushrooms, jalapenos, fried crispy onions and the ever so flavorful creamy red mile cheese sauce for a cost of $19.50. The bun was toasted, which I love, as it is a bit crispy around the edges, but still soft so it doesn't Cap'n Crunch the roof of your mouth. The beef patty that was juicy and delicious, and the other flavors worked together like a championship sports team. I chose fries as my side, however next time I am going to skip the fries, as there are better places in the city to experience fries. We were wanting a family style restaurant that wasn't a chain during our stay in Calgary, and 4th Spot sounded like it could be a great fit. This is a very cute restaurant. Trendy and fun but also family friendly. The main floor had families and there was also a lounge upstairs for those who prefer a kid free night. The patio is small but gets so much sun and is perfect for a meal too. My friend who lives in town commented that she has drove by so many times but never heard of it. Perhaps a hidden gem! The menu is large with many choices-pizza, pasta, handhelds, tacos, and more. Everyone was happy with their meal. The burning bee pizza had these crispy fried banana peppers that took it to the next level. Carbonara was huge, creamy and savoury. My husband liked his jalapeño mushroom burger very much. My son had a rockstar meal that made my momma heart happy as it was real food! The meatballs had stuffed mozza in the middle and the portion rivalled an adult portion. We would happily dine here again. The only small point of disappointment we had was our appetizer of dumplings came out and we had no cutlery or dishes. We tried to get someone's attention for a few minutes and my friend had to do the thing that no one likes but wave someone down as the food was getting cold. The person who brought out the food looked at the table so was just surprised about that. Our actual server was very lovely but also very busy. So we went to this pub for my moms 60 birthday. Went on Monday had pizza. We waited 48 mins for 3 pizza and it wasn't busy maybe 7 tables in the whole place. Not only was the service absolutely terrible. When you finally saw a staff member you had to flag them down . After placing our order all the staff just vanished leaving all the patrons looking for their server/ staff. People stood at the door no joke over 15 mins. 4 party's of 2 . Then get burnt pizza. Are you kidding me for my moms 60 birthday. What a joke. I had a thing of flowers for her it was obviously it was for an occasion. It was absolutely a terrible experience. came here on a Friday at 5:30 was already really busy. It's kinda like a Boston pizza very family friendly. Waited 10 mins for a table but the food took 30 mins to come out we ordered lasagna and ravioli... BUT WORTH THE WAIT! If you are a vegetarian their mushroom truffle ravioli. It's a really great alternative to moxies butternut squash ravioli which is still my all time favourite but this is definitely runner up. You definitely taste that truffle and the crunch of the sliced almonds and broccoli stems are perfect. I definitely recommend asking for extra Parmesan on top hehe that nutty element is perfect. The lasagne tastes very similar to Boston pizza nothing extra ordinary but a solid 8/10. There is so much more yummy stuff on their menu I can't wait to try so definitely will come back here maybe on a less busy day. read more

I get a lot of pleasure out of this place. It's so many different things. TV's upstairs, it's easy to see a tv on game nights. Family fun section on the main floor. I love that this family restaurant embraces families with babies and small children. I smile as I walk to the stairs. Lots of booths - upstairs Excellent patio, very well maintained - lively flowers. I haven't had anything that I didn't like. My go to is the Matador salad - it comes with beef skewers. They haven't missed yet on medium rare. Pizzas are also a popular item, and for good reason. Great flavour and good quality toppings. Last but not least they seem to carry a fairly tight front line team. A few of the young folks on staff have been there a few years which I think speaks to a good management. Give it a go. read more

I've been eating at 4th spot for 7 years, regularly. The food is always amazing! Can't say enough about the food. But tonight I had the worst service, and I really hate to say it because this is a great neighbourhood restaurant. We were sat in a "cozy" corner booth. More like the Bermuda Triangle. We we're served our drinks then appy and it was like we vanished off the face of the planet because we didn't see our sever, or any other, for another 15 minutes. I don't know if it was cocaine break for everyone but I had to go looking for a sever and couldn't find one, not one. We were also ignored when getting our bill. We had to stand and put our coats on before we saw the bill. No tip that's for sure, guess that'll put a dent in the tattoo budget. It'll be a while before I go back. And it wasn't even busy, guess I know why. read more

Came to 4th Spot on a Saturday for Lunch. I've been to 4th Spot a few times before. I like this cozy neighborhood pub/restaurant. The parking is limited to a small parking lot in the rear, and street, parking. The restaurant is well appointed and fairly large. We decided to eat in the lounge/bar area, and the place was fairly full. Regardless our server was over quickly to take drink order. The food menu is fairly extensive with a variety of burgers/sandwiches as well as pizzas. I decided to go with the Notorious PIG sandwich, my wife with just a 4th spot burger. Our food took a bit longer to come out than what I would have thought (ie: more than 20 mins). However, the first bites were very good. The portion sizes were decent. Not huge, but not small either. Although for the price, it's definitely a bit high. Overall, The service is good, nothing stellar. Our server seemed to be fairly new, and I'm thinking that with time he'll be very good. The food is better than average for a pub, but I'd argue that you can find better value (Read: Not cheap eats). Our service, albeit good, again it was not stellar. All combined - 4th Spot is good but has some small misses to hit the Top Spot. read more

What a DISAPPOINTMENT! My daughter and I went for lunch today (Sat Dec 16th) to Four Spot - we go quite often. They took too long to seat us and then after we had been given the menus, they did not come back for our order in timely way. The waitress was very sweet but in no hurry at all. To be clear also, the restaurant was not very busy. Finally when she appeared to take our order, we found out that the cocktail we were ordering wasn't available. My 2nd drink choice was also not available! I ordered a turkey sandwich and my daughter ordered a Caesar Salad with shrimp. Our food arrived 50 minutes after we were seated AND my daughter's order was wrong - chicken instead of shrimp. We did not complain as we did not want to wait and waste more time. We sat upstairs in a booth where the tables are too high for the seats. The decor is drab to say the least - they don't even have lights on the Christmas trees to perk it up. Their sister restaurant Spot On in the south of Calgary is so much better. Come on Four Spot - make it up to us! read more

Came here on a Friday night. We used the Nowait app and it went flawlessly (still had to wait a bit since we got there early). I had the kitchen sink penne with a daily soup (tomato). The soup was far from being a regular boring old tomato soup. I think the tomatoes were smoked or roasted which gave the soup alot of depth and definitely kicked it up a notch. The pasta dish was a good size and filling. There was a ton of things going on since it was everything but the kitchen sink, however I could've done away with the meatloaf since I felt like texturally it was out of place and ended up just breaking apart. My gf ordered the chipotle fried avocado burger and upgraded the side to french onion soup. We both saw pictures of the french onion soup and decided we had to try it. We were not disappointed at all. The puff pastry on top kept the soup hot and also kept the pastry flaky. The soup itself was not overly salty (alot of places over-reduce their soup) and the sweetness of the onions went well with the cheese curds. Definitely a must-get item at this place. The burger was good although I couldn't really taste the chipotle aioli. We also ordered a Pimm's cup. It was very watered down and didn't taste like anything, however they were nice enough to swap it out for a beer instead. Our companions also ordered a Caesar and a white wine peach sangria. They also found the drinks to be watered down, so perhaps skip the cocktails and stick to the wine/beers here. Our companions also ordered a pizza, however they told us that it was dropped in the kitchen before it could come. So they took it off their bill which was nice of them, however it was a very long wait for the rest of us and we were basically done eating by the time they received their pizza. I'll be back for their upscale bar food and pair it with their french onion soup. They have some additional parking in the back if it gets busy as well. read more

Half priced wing and wine Wednesdays? Sign me up! Better yet, you don't need to sign up for anything. You just show up and order a bottle of wine for half the price. It's THAT simple. 4th spot is kind of like a local, non-chain version of Joey's (What was Joey Tomatoes, not to be confused with the fish n chips place.) Ok caveman dieters - there are salads and then there are SALADS. If your idea of the perfect salad is actually hearty steak dinner on top of a bed of leaves just for fun, you gotta check out the Matadore Salad. This thing is 2 large BBQ skewers loaded up with marinated steak, peppers and onions, a good size chunk of grilled focaccia and feta. Now that's a meal! But just to be nice, they drop all of that on a pile a lettuce and mixed greens. This was possibly the first time in my life I've asked to have my salad packed up to go. There's a dining room as soon as you walk in but if you left the kids at home and are 18+ I think you'll find the upstairs lounge is a little nicer of a place to hang out. They have booths and the whole area just feels a little more cozy. If you can find your house on the gigantic wall map, they'll let you mark it with a shiny star sticker. My parents wanted me to check out this place for a while so we headed here tonight for dinner. Inside is a very updated interior with dark mood lit walls. The menu was excellent, there were choices like Poutine on the appetizers. Salad choices offered a variety as well as pasta dishes, sandwiches, meatloaf, burgers, pizzas and features each night. Tuesday is apparently Pasta night and you can get half price pasta on all the regular dishes. One night is Big Rock night, Friday, and you get a deal on beer that night too. I had the Steakout sandwich and the 6 oz of sirloin was amazingly tender, it has been a really long time since I had a steak from Alberta and it was so good. I had the choice to have fries or salad etc and chose the Caesar, it had small bits of bacon so for the veggies out there make sure you hold the bacon ;) Some of the other choices eaten at our table were excellent burger and a pasta dish that arrived with lots of tomatoes and various vegetables, the presentation on the all dishes was excellent. The burger came with lots of fries and a side of gravy and the burger was huge. Steak sandwich with the side salad is a filling but some might feel light dish as they don't do all that garnish type stuff on the plate. It was perfect for me, but some folks if they are really hungry might have felt the side of fries was a better choice. Food looked awesome but was lacking flavour. I got the drums n mac but subbed the mac for fries. Drums were fried crispy and hot but the coating needed some salt and seasoning. The maple syrup was a nice touch but was the only flavour punch. It came with an apple Cole slaw that had absolutely no flavour! There were other veggies, corn on the cob and asparagus, that were equally boring in taste. Odd thing is while my chicken was piping hot, my fries were merely room temperature.
