Stopped in at the Stephen Ave location and had a great time. The atmosphere is exactly what you want from a downtown spot. It was upbeat, stylish, with lively background music that kept the energy up without making it hard to talk. Service was excellent from start to finish. They were attentive and friendly the whole way through. The food delivered. The Bolognese was rich and hearty, loaded with sauce and topped with shaved parmesan and fresh rosemary. They had a sugar free margarita on the menu which was good. I found a nearby underground garage and it was free, then a short 1 minute walk ton Cactus Club cafe. Great meal, great service, great setting. Would happily come back next time we're in Calgary. read more

This place is conveniently located right next to the mall. Where we enjoyed burgers and drinks and had a nice walk within the mall. The chicken wings were crispy and delicious, we both ordered the cheddar bacon burgers which were delicious -- finger licking good and the fries and truffle fries were probably the best fries I've had in a long time. Everything was made to order and we could taste the difference. The ambiance is nice, can tell the staff stay busy from opening... and I can see this place being extra busy I when the weather breaks for spring as there is the option to have an open seating. The waitress that helped us we liked her a lot... too bad we couldn't recall her name, but long brown hair 'without' tattoos and bubbly. she had good recommendations, honest about some of my questions, and she made excellent drinks as for the other waitress although there was that resting face appearance, we were just another guest to serve and move along. All in all this place was recommended to us and I would try again when in the area. read more

Cactus Club Cafe - Canadian (New) Near Me - Calgary, Alberta

Cactus clubs is always a go to staple especially for their happy hour. Food is consistent and has a little bit of everything for everyone on the menu. Service was good during this visit the waitress was very tentative even when the restaurant was packed. Interior is just like any other cactus club but music volume was at a reasonable level! read more

An amazing dinner and experience. Our server, Tanya, was friendly, helpful, and super energetic. She walked us through the menu and made some great suggestions. I'm not one for dessert, but the crème brûlée made with Earl Gray tea, blueberries, brown sugar, and vanilla is absolutely delicious. I did not eat the brulee'd top (too sweet for me), the body of the dessert was PERFECT! My son and I started with the Tuna Temaki. A perfect combination of ahi, veggies, and spice. He then had the Scallop and Prawn Ceviche. It was fresh and vibrant. I had the Baja fish tacos. I eat a lot of fish tacos and put these right at the top of the list. Lightly battered and perfectly fried, the taco was more fish than slaw and the cream was delicious. Our party also enjoyed juicy and well cooked burgers with truffle fries. All very good. The cocktail menu is great as is their beer selection. Whether you are in the dining room or at the bar, a tv is within sight, so you can enjoy whatever game is on. The Cactus Club Cafe on 17th is awesome and I'll be returning! read more

We were in town for my holiday work party and found this place adjacent to my hotel. Excellent food. Great service. Nice overall experience. read more

My cousin brought me to this nice and trendy atmosphere restaurant and wanted me to try her favourite blackened creole chicken. It didn't take us long to get seated and we immediately ordered our food. We are fretted immediately by a pretty waitress unfortunately couldn't remember her name but she was very attentive and friendly. We ordered Spicy citrus calamari, Salmon aburi roll, blackened creole chicken and chocolate lava cake for dessert. Everything was good except for the chocolate lava cake. It was good paired with vanilla over cream but I think it wasn't heated long enough as the chocolate is not melted like it is supposed to. read more

I don't give 5 stars ever but my experience was excellent all around. I've been to the McLeod Trail location which was below average.

Love this Place, always great food & service. Would recommend all the time. Our go to Cactus in Calgary.

My party of 4 just arrived at Calgary from California on a late flight and we were starving! We stumbled upon Cactus Club Cafe since our hotel is just down the street. They serve a lot of Canadian/American favorites and we made it just in time for happy hour! We ordered the cheddar burger, rigatoni bolognese, teriyaki chicken rice bowl, beer, and red wine for drinks. The food came unbelievably fast, the teriyaki chicken rice was ok. I definitely had better teriyaki chicken rice. However the burger and bolognese were on point! Our server was the sweetest and was so friendly and attentive. She even gave us suggestions on where to go in Banff! The ambiance was very dim and has a romantic feel to it, we dig it even though we are not on a date haha. We had an amazing experience and love this place!! We definitely will be back next time we are in town!! :) read more

A go to at home, as you know what you are getting from this chain eatery. The wild card is always the service, and the ability of the kitchen to actually pull off the dishes. CC Calgary on this night did it well. Our server was excellent, the bottle of wine lovely, the salad plentiful if a bit lacking in the acid department and dressing. My ravioli was great, the shrimp nicely cooked, but a bit on the rich side. The lovely K had the bolognese and the rigatoni, and found the pasta a bit on the tough side, and we like al dente pasta. The sauce was however very nice. The space is a typical Cactus, filled with people and a good bit of noise going on, but that's Cactus in the evening. You know what you're going to get, and they seldom disappoint. read more

Came here on a Friday for lunch with some old ex-colleagues. It was quite busy inside but since it was so nice outside we elected to sit on their patio. Which was a good thing too because it was so loud inside that I think it would have been hard to hold a conversation. This location is on Stephen Avenue walk and sitting on the patio allows you to do some people watching. I had a root beer and a Crispy Chicken Sandwich with fries. OMG, the food was so good. One of the best chicken sandwiches I had. Our waitress Kaily was awesome - friendly, attentive, and efficient. I don't usually eat at Cactus Club but I think I will come to this location again. read more

The food was delicious as usual . Service was excellent and she was very kind . I think her name is Elisa ??? .

I was recommended this place for their drinks. My partner and I do not drink alcohol. But the waitress was so sweet and made it a non-alcoholic version of it. We came in just in time for happy hour which was perfect we had the guacamole, burger sliders and sushi. The sushi was delicious. Desert was ok. It service and atmosphere was excellent. read more

Great service, good food and wonderful ambience at this trendy restaurant/bar. I went after work with some co workers and the service was spot on. Very attentive. The music was not loud enough to make you have to shout to speak with your table mates and at the same time helped make you feel up beat. The shrimp was cooked just right where my sirloin could have been a little more tender. I ordered a medium rare and it came out a tad more medium. The key lime pie was delicious with the cream stacked high. Overall a nice place to have a fun meal! read more

No matter what part of Canada I'm in, CC never disappoints and most likely I always order my fav burger- The Feenie! Cactus Club Cafe - Canadian (New) Near Me - Calgary, Alberta

They're actually a pretty big restaurant and had seats where other restaurants didn't during the weekend. Thanks to them, we were able to get lunch that day. They're located in Calgary's CORE Shopping Centre. So while it's on that part of 8 Avenue that doesn't have street parking, mostly reserved as walkways, the mall itself has garages (CORE Parkade and Holt Renfrew Parkade) you can park at. Both have parking rates, but there are times (including weekends) when the first three hours are free, so check that out. And if you parked elsewhere, Cactus Club Cafe is at least easily accessible. It's on the 1st floor, the front door is on the street itself, and it's on the corner of 8 Avenue and 3 Street. Plenty of seats inside, a bar area, and this absolutely gorgeous and well-established patio area. Just be aware that they're in a spot where, during the summer, the sunlight moves into the building as the day goes on. Finally, definitely try taking advantage of their Happy Hour. And if you're there for Happy Hour, be sure to check whether or not the drink or dish you want might be on the Happy Hour menu, and therefore cheaper. Cactus Club Cafe is actually a chain with multiple locations across Canada and three specifically in Calgary. This particular Calgary location is located in a pretty central part of downtown. CORE Shopping Centre is someplace you definitely want to come to visit, explore, and hang out in. If you're visiting Calgary, I would definitely recommend visiting since it's so big and is just gorgeous. Seriously, the top floor is an entire garden, otherwise known as the Devonian Gardens. We only saw restrooms on the third floor, but luckily restaurants like Cactus Club have their own restrooms. If you're from California, then (to me) it was really reminiscent of a BJ's (BJ's Restaurants and Brewhouse). Complete with a really comprehensive online ordering system where you can pick up your food and get it Doordashed. There are definitely some Asian and Italian influences on the menu, and we weren't actually expecting much. Turns out though, everything we got there was DELICIOUS! The ravioli was some of the best I've ever tasted, we absolutely adored the Hunter's Chicken, the Prawn Crunch Roll was fun for everyone, and the Mini Crispy Chicken Sandwiches went wonderfully with the drinks (and were conveniently small since Dad wasn't very hungry at the time). Will say though, while we all really enjoyed my Frose Sangria, my dad was not a fan of his beer (Blindman Passionfruit & Strawberry Sour 4.5%). So the latter is apparently definitely not something to recommend to someone who prefers hoppy beers. Overall, I don't actually have words for how satisfied we were. The food really was absolutely lovely. Would definitely recommend and I would definitely come back. read more

Food was disappointing. Opted to sit in the lounge and on my second visit, sat at the bar. There were clearly extremely intoxicated bunch of people sitting there who shouldn't have been served any more liquor but they were. In hindsight, I should have, and going forward, will be bringing this to AGLC's attention instead of dealing with the incompetent management here. I'd rate the service as poor and the girls working behind the bar were definitely high. read more

I am from California every time that I come to Calgary I visit the cactus club Café. The service is great, the ambience is a total vibe whether it's for girls night date night or family dinner. I would definitely recommend -- this location specifically. read more

While the food & the wait staff was super the manager Andrew sucked! While having a great visit with family & friends he was the only one out of the whole bar staff that had a problem with anyone. While I found him rather racist with all customers involved I tried to down escalate the situation but Andrew would not let it going claiming that the Indian folks I was with should find another place to drink shame on him & Catcus Club for saying these kind of things totally unacceptable!!!! read more

We just walked in for an early dinner looking for some time to relax after running around seeing the sights all day. We were seated promptly in the dining room which was more relaxing than the lounge as it was happy hour. Lots of exotic drinks to try and a huge wine selection. Great place! Great food, best waitress I've had in years. Caroline-did an excellent job. Efficient, attentive, but didn't hover- a perfect balance. I couldn't decide on what to order & she assisted with great suggestions to help me decide. She listened well to our specific requests & was just great. We shared the Basil pesto Chicken quesadillas with honey lime dip- excellent flavor & highly recommend "the Med Bowl" for some Calgary flair. This dinner & great waitress was the best of Calgary for sure. read more

My husband and I had dinner here on a Wednesday night. We showed up without reservations and had to wait only 15 minutes (as promised), but I would make reservations next time. The atmosphere in the dining room was relaxing and quaint. Even though there were lots of people, the personal booths provide nice privacy. Once we were seated, service was amazingly quick and the server was very friendly and patient with our menu questions. Our food arrived within 5-10 minutes - very quick. We ordered yam fries appetizer with garlic aioli, I had the modern bowl, and my husband had the butternut squash ravioli. All food was delightful! read more

I had the Poké bowl doordashed today. Overall, the flavor was good, but there was a ton of rice and very little meat.

Hands down to the best chicken I've ever had in town so far! The chicken was tender and it tasted beyond excellent with the gravy. It's a little salty and heavy in flavour but still darn goooooood. This place is well-rounded with great food, wonderful ambience and is in a fantastic central location in the heart of the city! More on my IG: @annthefoodie read more

Busy as heck at this location. We were here around the dinner hour on Thursday with our 3 year old in tow. Patio/lounge is out of the question with the little guy. Wait for seating in the dining room was still about 20 minutes in a queue off to the side with no seating. We were able to at least order some drinks while we waited which helped. Sangrias for hubs and I. Ordered the Tofu Bowl so I could share with my 3 year old. Was reassured the dish was had only a little bit of heat but when it arrived, it was too spicy for us both. Server offered to bring some more tofu which I appreciated, and they did, but now it had no flavour as it was literally battered and deep-fried but without seasoning. Oh well. Husband got the Tuna Stack and it was delicious. Service was standard. read more

My sister and I stopped here on a whim. We were not disappointed, the chicken wraps on their share plates are FANTASTIC. A little spicy and tang with the sauces to compliment made it so delicious. We split the Avocado and Kale salad and added chicken. It was nice portion and they split it on two plates for us. Avery our server was nice and polite. The music was great and it has a very chill ambiance, we went for lunch on a Saturday. I highly recommend! Thank you for making this a great spot in our trip to Calgary. read more

Was forced to come here after my first choice of dinner place was closed. I was able to snag a seat at the bar and ordered a Negroni with the butternut squash ravioli for dinner. The drink itself was pretty weak (and small in general). Negronis are supposed to be equal parts alcohol- 1oz each of the three so I don't know how 2.5 ounces comes into play. The room was loud and looked like a typical Tinder bar. Only cool kids around mostly 20-something's and you definitely had to be attractive to work there. Working on the Strip in Vegas I know alllll too well what it's like to be hired based on your looks. Nothing wrong with it- but I'm letting reviewers know what they're getting in to. Service was friendly but off. Water was never refilled and never asked if I wanted another drink. The food was okay but not anything special or enough to make me come back again. I'd definitely skip this place if I'm ever in Calgary and regret not walking a little further to search for a better restaurant. read more

I chose to come here as often as I do because I enjoy the food, but getting denied a patio table because I was by myself is pretty offensive. I would give this place zero stars if I could because that's just disgustingly rude. Oh and not to mention - when I walked in, there were 5 or 6 empty patio tables. I sat at the bar as told, and when I saw more people getting seated outside (which was "full") I asked again to be moved and told me because I've ordered they can't let me transfer.
