I went to Bridgette Bar based on a few recommendations and a feature I saw online. If you're going with a small group or as a couple, reservations aren't really necessary from what I observed. The space is trendy, stylish, and the service was excellent from start to finish. We started with the garlic bread, which was more like cheesy bread it was rich, flavorful, and definitely a solid appetizer. For my main, I ordered the wood-roasted half duck. I was happy it wasn't gamey at all, and it was cooked beautifully with great flavor throughout. I also tried a bit of the personal chicken pizza, which had a perfect balance of cheese and chicken, really well done. We did try to get dessert, but unfortunately, what we wanted was sold out, which was a bit of a letdown. Overall, a great dining experience with quality food and a cool vibe. Go for the 2-5 pm happy hour! Note during that time that some small bites, salads, and pizzas are available, so not the full menu, but you get 50% off drinks. I also got lucky to catch the Endless Summer promo (more info on their IG) to double dip on discounts. I got the spiced beet salad (15 CAD) and albacore tuna fritters (6 CAD for 3 decent sized pieces, endless summer promo) for food, and the Heartbreak Mountain (8 CAD ES promo, 17 for regular price), Cruel Summer (8.50 CAD happy hour, 17 for regular price), and Rolling Canoe (8.50 CAD happy hour, 17 for regular price). The beet salad was well balanced and sizable portions. Something like this would cost at least 50% more in the states, and even then the quality would probably be not as good. The albacore tuna fritters were sizable and good portions, fairly hearty. The Heartbreak Mountain is really good - with earl grey tea, etc and is milk clarified so it goes smoothly. The Cruel Summer is more of a fruity, refreshing drink, fairly strong. Rolling Canoe is unique with having port in the cocktail and drinks and visually pairs well with the spiced beet salad. What was initially a quick lunch turned into a fairly long yet satisfying dining experience solely because the value was so good I would frontload eating and drinking here to maximize value of what I would consume for the day. read more

The occupied tables were concentrated in one area of the restaurant while other areas remained empty, which impacted the sound scape of the space-- it was difficult to hold a conversation. As a newcomer to Calgary, I felt like I had to come to Bridgette Bar within my first few months of living here. So I went for late night drinks and appies with a couple of friends. First thing to note, reservations should be made way in advance, especially for dinnertime! I really liked the cocktails I tried; the balance of sweet and tangy and herbaceous in the Cruel Summer was fantastic. I also liked the combo of citrus and cinnamon in the Paradise City. The appies were also pretty good; the eggplant fries and the brussels sprouts with savory caramel were standouts. I wish the brussels sprouts had had a bit more crisp to them. The prices were about what I would expect as well. Unfortunately, the thing that impacted our experience the most was the service. Our server was extremely curt with us, and often dropped off our drinks without saying anything and would just walk away. We wondered if she was just having a bad day, but then we saw were chatting and being friendly with a different table. This definitely left a sour taste in my mouth, and I would hope for better from such a well-established restaurant. Service was great, possibly a little much earlier on but then MIA when we were looking for the check. I enjoyed everything but the fave at the table was easily the lamb sausage plate. What more can I say about this hot spot? The service was excellent. Emily , our server, was an incredible additive to our experience. She was extremely informative, patient and just had the best and most welcoming demeanour. My dinner & drinks companion had the Italian Pork Sausage pasta, which he quite enjoyed and their Paradise City coconut marg. I was going to have the lamb, but because of food allergies, opted for the Wood Grill Steak instead. I was not disappointed. Not only did they meet all requests but surpassed expectations. I also added a side of their Roasted Cauliflower done with Anchovies. Delicious. I wasn't super keen on their wine selection by glass, but that is fairly common. I chose a pre dinner martini and a glass of Cabernet for dinner. Both were just okay. Upon return, I would most definitely try their lamb and T-bone and their side of Wood Grilled Carrots and Brussels Sprouts. We were headed to a show or would have indulged more. my sister booked bridgette bar approximately a month ago through open table. we were a party of five and were seated promptly at 6:15 pm on a friday evening. this place is busy. the ground level seemed more casual, for drinks, and the second level was more for dining. it has a trendy vibe, industrial feel, with high ceilings. there's a featured cycling race mural on one wall, two vintage bmw motorcycles on prominent display, framed pictures including one of bridgette bardot. we shared most everything and started off with: spiced beet salad wagyu beef carpaccio, favourite dish margherita pizza grilled octopus salad our server raquel (or rachel, could not hear properly as the noise level made it hard to decipher) was very personable and attentive, checked in on us, refilled our waters and timed the meal to ensure maximum table real estate was utilized. for mains we had both the grilled lamb sirloin and wood roasted half duck. the lamb was cooked to perfection and i enjoyed it, but others in our party found it a bit gamey. the duck had a nice crispy sear to skin. everything up to this point was delicious. wanting to try other dishes, we looked at the menu and wanted to get a few more items and our server recommended the garlic bread, which put us over the top. we should have stopped there, but we decided to order a flight of desserts to share. we had the banana pie, roasted strawberry mille-feuille, and chocolate marquise. we agreed that dinner was better than the desserts, or perhaps we were just too full to enjoy and could not finish. it's hard to pinpoint what this restaurant is, there's pizza and pasta, mediterranean inspired ingredients and also japanese with the sake. the menu is fresh and innovative, and great for groups. reservations are highly recommended. read more

It was a bit chilly sitting next to the huge window that convert into doors. My daughter loved the "industrial feel" (looks like a converted garage with lots of cool decor on all levels and even in the washroom!). It was still Happy Hour until 5 pm, so drinks were 1/2 price! My daughter tried the Dreams of Yu(zu) AND our waiter insisted that she would love the Rolling Canoe and she did! Tasted like cold mulled wine. Both are $16 regular price. For Appies we tried the Eggplant Fries (so yummy), the Tuna Crudo and Belgian Endive in Brie Cream. It was all unique and delish! Then we shared a Fennel Salami pizza and were too full for dessert. I ordered Wagyu Beef Tartare (Eggplant, Pickles, Sumac, Crackers) - not wow but it was good. small light appetizer. I wish the crackers were a lot more crunchier or thicker so that it would be able to hold the beef tartare when placed on top of it. Also, it was more on the vinegar side. I say too much vinegar overpowering the beef flavor. Braised Short Ribs (Celeriac Pavé, Shallot, Perigord sauce) - was definitely my favorite. It was very flavorful and tender. It was cooked to perfection. Ricotta Cheesecake (Honey, Walnuts, Pistachio) - Super delicious. I really like the cheesecake flavor. The crust was not the ordinary graham cracker. It had a nice strong cream cheese flavor along with honey. All the above for $20! I like the decor and atmosphere here. I highly recommend trying this place if you have never been. It's been awhile where I've eaten somewhere a bit more upscale and have been thoroughly impressed. I can say with confidence that if you're looking for an amazing meal and are in Calgary, you'll need to add this spot to your list. We ate indoors because it was so hot outside - was glad we got a spot and had a reservation. For cocktails I ordered the "If Don Juan Were a Woman" which included tequila, grapefruit, IPA, lime, aquafaba (which is chickpea water and resembles egg white when whisked so this can be vegan!) soda, and cinnamon. It was pretty delicious but I could only have one. We switched to Pinot Noir and then bubbles later...haha. To eat we split a variety of items: - Eggplant fries with an aioli - you must have these - Burrata - speaks for itself - Crispy smashed potatoes - loved - Ricotta Dumplings in a red sauce - unreal - Rigatoni in a cream truffle sauce - this is a need - Cauliflower - was just OK Absolutely loved my time here and would recommend it time and time again. I was definitely into the ambience; they have an identity that is uniquely memorable. Though, the kitchen is open, loud, and exposed to half the dining area, so noise levels can be a bit much. That, and they mix seating styles; as in, booth on one end of the table, chairs on the other (which I know is "the thing" these days, but I still hate it). The food is luckily the star of the show here. It's all Family-Style (of course), which I've grown fond of, as it encourages friendly collaboration. Do not let their vague menu fool you--understand that they'll put a "spin" on even the most "normal" sounding items. For instance, the, "Garlic Bread," is more than you'd think it is and I highly recommend! The, "Rigatoni," was also a fave, simple; yet, flavourful. What I appreciated was how the flavours would grow on my date and I the more we ate certain dishes--the, "Wagyu Beef Carpaccio," was like that, as were the, "Eggplant Fries," (don't knock it 'em you try 'em). For dessert, "The Banana Pie," is the way to go, perfect way to cap off the meal. Our server was great. They had a bit of trouble matching our energy in the first half, but eventually figured it out. They were helpful in explaining the items, and encouraging in our exploration of the menu. Overall, I'd recommend this place to anyone with adventurous tastes buds and a high tolerance for background noise. I hosted my sister's bridal shower at Bridgette Bar and we had an extremely disappointing experience. The service and execution of the event were laughable and, frankly, embarrassing. I do NOT recommend hosting events or large groups at Bridgette Bar. 1) There was a lack of communication between the supervisor I had been emailing with for event planning and the actual staff on the day of. We had confirmed by email correspondence that the food should be served immediately after 2pm so that guests could help themselves as soon as they arrived. However, the first few plates of starters did not get served until well over a half hour of the requested time. This was also only after I had asked multiple times where the food was. At one point, the server mentioned that he had just punched it in at 2pm since that is when the kitchen opened...! This was a surprise to me because I had pre-ordered the food by email the week before since I was committed to a minimum $ spend in booking the semi-private East Dining Room. The rest of the food continued to be served in slow intervals. 2) Initially, only one server was assigned to our entire group of 25 guests. I felt bad for him as he tried to take orders and serve drinks by himself. Only after he was struggling for a long time did management finally assign more servers to our group. This also meant that the majority of my guests were waiting to have their drink orders taken (and then waiting to receive those drinks) well into the first hour of the party. 3) The assistant manager actually waived the $5 per person "outside dessert" fee as a way of apologizing for the slow food and drinks at the beginning of the event. However, I am not sure they had even known about it if I hadn't brought it up to the server halfway through the party. 4) During the last hour of the party, I was told that since there were reservations for 5pm in our booked space, we should start clearing out of the tables around a quarter to. This came as a shock to me as I had confirmed my booking to be until 5pm. They did offer some space near the front of the restaurant but it was very crowded (a couch, two chairs and coffee table) for our group. Instead of ending the party on a positive note, we had to start packing up, loading gifts into the car, ushering guests into a different cramped space...it felt very chaotic and rushed. If I had been told during the planning stage that we would need to be out of our space before 5pm, I would changed the time of our party. It felt very unprofessional to have reservations booked without allowing for time to clean-up between parties. 5) A few days after the event, I noticed that an additional amount was charged to my credit card. When I emailed to inquire, I was told that they had noticed that a large portion of drinks from the party had not been added onto the final bill. They said they tried to call me but ultimately ended up using my credit card on file to charge the amount. I was baffled because there was no voicemail or email to show they had tried to contact me after the event. This is completely unacceptable. It also shows how disorganized the team is if you are losing track of $300 in drink orders. The food and drinks were fortunately good but, overall, I'm shocked that a Concorde Entertainment Group restaurant operates at such an amateur level. This was supposed to be a fun get-together to kick-off the wedding events and instead it left us with an incredibly negative experience hosting our family and friends. read more

Bridgette Bar is my absolute favorite restaurant in Calgary so far. The vibe and ambiance as soon as you walk in is exactly my style. Upbeat, modern and fun. Hubby and I both really enjoyed the drinks that we ordered - forgive me I can't remember the names! But we both ordered 2 different drinks each and loved them all. Now to the food. Whew it was SO good! I devoured my Rigatoni and hubby devoured his duck. We would definitely order both again. We also really enjoyed the garlic bread as our appetizer. All of the food was thoughtfully developed and delicious. Not a single bad bite of food. The open wood/coal grill really adds such a nice touch and flavor.
