We got the Parmesan Herb Schnitzel and The Big Sampler. The schnitzel had a flavorful breading that provided a nice crunchy texture to the veal, and the sauce took the flavor to the next level. The spätzle was okay... it needed a little more salt and had too much butter. The Big Sampler did not disappoint and offered a taste of everything. They ran out of pork chop late in the evening, so it was replaced with a pork hock. The sauerkraut, cabbage, and mustards paired nicely with the sausage and pork hock, offering a sweet and tangy break to my palette. The pork hock was tender and fell right off the bone. And while this is the least exciting thing on the plate, the fries were still made to perfection! Service was excellent and accommodating to dietary restrictions, and the outdoor ambience offered a beautiful view of the charming town and surrounding mountains.

Ambiance was fun as several Austrian Canadians were politely cheering on Austria in a FIFA match. We decided on Austrian cuisine for the evening, not Danish. Service was prompt and friendly. We started with a soft pretzel with sausage (ok it was a Danish pork sausage) and both were fabulous. My wife chose as main course hunter style schnitzel with vegetables and egg spaetzl. I tried the braised beef roulade with spaetzl and red cabbage. OMG - both were amazing, and I'm not a cabbage fan. We agreed the braised beef was best . For dessert we shared my wife's choice, a traditional layered chocolate cake, and my choice raspberry dream composed of vanilla ice cream, whipped cream and warmed raspberries with a raspberry schnapps. ONE OF THE BEST MEALS WE'VE EXPERIENCED IN AGES!

Ordered food and beer in the lounge part of the Austrian Canadian Club. Sat there for 2 hours for poor service and over priced Food that came out cold. We ordered chicken schnitzel with spatzal 2 small cauliflower florettes for vegetables. Hubby ordered a Kalbsrahmschnitzel and spatzal with a good amount of veggies. Both came with a small variety salad to start with a few beers. The one star is for the salad the was small but great flavour! The Kalbsrahmschnitzel tasted a little off, Chicken Schnitzel was tender but cold. We made our second drink order that never came, we finally had to ask another server where our drink order was. Then our server finally brought them out a half an hour later. And another 45 minutes to get our bill. We left still hungry. The lounge is small with limited tables and seating. -Inside was run down European pictures and knickknacks all around. -plenty of parking Will not be returning due to the poor quality food and service. This place as really gone down hill over the years.

Fantastic little find on the way back to Calgary from Drumheller…read more This is a quaint little diner that appears to be family run. They were all warm and attentive. The photos don't look like much but the seasoning was perfect on everything. I ordered the special of chicken milanesa. It was a pounded chicken breast breaded perfectly, topped with sauteed onions, with a side of fries that I could not finish. My lunch partner ordered a small bowl of borscht, which was not very small, and a meal of perogies. The borscht was loaded with vegetables and sausage. The perogies had a perfect cheese filling and sausage on the side. Both of us had a side of coleslaw with a light but creamy dressing. I cant say enough about their seasoning. It was light but perfect. It totally enhanced the food instead of overwhelming it. This place has perfected some very good hearty recipes. We were way too full to try the pies. That is my only regret. This place is one where I would highly recommend if you are near Drumheller and looking for food. It is worth the 30 min drive

This is the small town dining experience of your, my, and every respectable person's dreams. This is the place that your favourite local joint tries and fails to emulate. This, good people of Yelp, is a place you simply cannot miss if you happen to be out and about in God's country. The Mennonite waitress here was the most sincerely kind server I've ever come across. She was helpful, efficient, and encapsulated the warmth that Country Cousins emanates. Over the course of two visits, I had the Famous Iced Tea, the Mennonite Plate, the 4 Berry Pie, the Peanut Butter Pie, and the pickled carrots. First things first: I'm not sure just how famous the famous iced is, but I can tell you one thing - it's not famous enough. This iced tea would be served iced cold with my last meal. In fact, if it were my last meal I'd die happy. Is it sweet? Oh yeah. But it's got a flavour that I remember from my childhood which I just can't pinpoint. Like Pruste's madeleine, this iced tea brings you way, way, back and leaves you there long after the mason jar the tea is served in has dried up. The Mennonite plate is a wicked combination of Mennonite sausage, the finest cabbage rolls anyone could put together, and the single best half dozen pirogies this man has ever had (get the cottage cheese option). The sausage is made by people that make sausage like their lives depend on it. Meaty, tasty, filling cooked sausage an inch in diameter and split in half. Delicious. The cabbage rolls perfectly combine juicy cabbage with tasty ground beef, pleasantly acidic tomato sauce with sour cream. Yum. But the pirogies are where the sun really shines. These pan fried delights taste like how pirogies can be at their best. The dough stands out with a starchy flavour of its own, and the cottage cheese provides that cottage cheese texture that only it has, along with a familiar tang. The pirogies are dressed in a rich white sauce that probably isn't necessary but definitely doesn't hurt either. The 4 Berry Pie meets and exceeds your expectations for what small town pie can be - juicy, sweet, whole berry fillings ooze under the most buttery, flaky crust imaginable. The Peanut Butter Pie is unlike any pie I've ever had. It has a custard and whipped cream base which is essentially flavoured with peanut butter. Delicious, but a bit too sweet for my liking. Had to drown it down with that Famous Iced Tea. The pickled carrots were a revelation. Perfect crunch, perfect proportions of dill and garlic. Just a delight. Bought a jar to bring back home. Overall, Country Cousin's an absolute must-try if you're in the area. An experience you won't soon forget.

As we wandered trying to decide where to begin, we found ourselves looking in the windows of the Social Beer Haus and their sidewalk sign had Caesars on special. I was unaware of this establishment and discovered from Yelp that it is relatively new. We were greeted and quickly seated immediately noticing that the establishment is very large - essentially two rooms. The place is very open and modern! There was not much happening, as we were in early - just after 11:00 am. As I sipped my Caesar and the Missus sipped her $5.00 sleeve of Steam Whistle, we perused the menu to which we discovered featured a full spread of smokehouse items! Meats by the half pound with upgraded sides and a variety of sandwiches and burgers. I ordered the "Boy Named Sue" burger and the Missus had the club house (it had a clever name, but I cannot recall it). While waiting for the meal, we visited with the general manager - my Missus plans her companies events, so she inquired about private bookings which are possible. The Social Beer Haus website provides info on a number of "floor plans" and menu options for private parties. The food arrived and it looked amazing! Hot and fresh - presented on what seems to be a smokehouse standard baking sheet covered in butcher paper - fine dining this place is not. The fried jalapeno, gives you a little "bitch slap" with every bite which would make the Man in Black proud. I added an ice cold pint of PBR to top off the meal. I stole a couple bites of the Missus' club sando and it was delish - especially the bacon. All in all, the food was tasty and the portioning was filling. The Missus and I were boring in choosing the standard fries for sides, but there were upgrades like mac and cheese etc for an additional charge. Some of the other reviewers were disappointed in that they were expecting Haus in the name of the establishment. I saw "Social" and Beer" and didn't even notice Haus. You could get a smoked link - that is close to bratwurst I suppose. All in, it sounds like this place is busy during the evenings. It is worth checking out!
