Went on a Thursday evening for wine and dinner. Conveniently, there were some new drink options! We got to enjoy the white wine sangria which comes with some peach slush. It's a delightful, and fresh summer drink. For my entree, I chose the Honey Glazed Cajun Chicken. This is by far one of the best plated dinners I have had! Tender chicken, mashed potatoes, on a bed of asparagus with very subtle hints of heat. Do not let the "Cajun" term defer you. It was spectacular!! Have been to State and Main several times and it has always been a pleasant experience. This past Saturday, I ordered the Calamari and my date ordered the enchiladas which she said was delicious. March 29th 2018 was my last day of work. After work, my boyfriend drove me to State & Main Kitchen & Bar to have a dinner. We have been State & Main in the City of Lethbridge before. This was our first time having dinner at this Calgary location. We had a pleasant dining experience at this restaurant. Environment We arrived the restaurant around 5 pm. It was not busy. We could get a table very easier. After we sat down, the server brought the menu to us. Inside the restaurant, all the setting and decorations were the same as other State & Main location. It was very nice and clean. Serve Our table server was very nice and friendly. She gave us great suggestions for the drink. Very helpful. Food & Prices We have ordered $17.00 PACIFIC RIM NOODLE BOWL and STEAK SANDWICH $21.50. Our food came out the kitchen was fast. They were all well cooked and fresh. Inside my noodle bowl included chicken, shrimp, steamed vegetables & rice noodles, simmered in a spicy flavorful broth. chili oil & fresh lime on the side. It was very health noodle bowl. I loved the soup flavor so much. The steak sandwich was enjoyed by my boyfriend's dining companions. It was six-ounce steak, seasoned & cooked your way; served open faced on garlic toasted french bread. All the dish seemed like a great value for us. The new Mahogany location is now open. While OJ's on 130th is closer to home, and they're very similar, my wife loves the pretzel sticks (now bites) so we'll probably end up here more often. The space is wide open compared to other State & Main locations in the city. There's a large bar with tables around it and another section off to the side over by the patio. It also seems brighter with lots of windows. The beer selection is good with a mix of styles, mostly local options and a bunch of taps that rotate. Our dinners were good, but nothing outstanding. I went with the buffalo chicken cheese-steak. It's not as gooey and salty as your average cheese-steak. The spiciness could be charged up a little too. The service was really good. Our server was on it all night and other staff helped out where needed. Downer of the meal was the key lime pie in a jar. Not so good overall. read more

Never heard of this place before. We had dinner here with a couple friends who live in the area. Very nice looking place. Very modern. Not huge. Just right actually. Okay, so I ordered the Main St burger and it was sooo good. I absolutely loved it. One of the best burgers I've had. It was delicious. It came with two sides. There were many to choose from - I chose sweet potato fries and caesar salad. Also very good. Our server was awesome. The entire staff was great. Anytime a staff member walked past our table they'd remove a dirty plate or fill waters (the way it should be). So great food, great service, and a great place to meet up with friends. I'm hoping one will open up here in North Vancouver. read more

This is my second time visiting a state & Main and found the food dissatisfying. Ordered the breakfast burrito and it was basically a breakfast wrap! Nothing about it was a burrito and extremely over done tater totes. However; the drinks were very good but definitely won't be going back to eat. The server was attentive and friendly. read more

We've had nothing but good experiences at this State and Main. Our last experience was a delivery error with Skip The Dishes. My kids love their mac and cheese (it's solid), and my daughter had to have it for a special dinner. The order showed up with the jalapeno mac and cheese from their menu (which is really good, and has been referenced in other reviews here)....not the kids mac and cheese. I made a quick call to the restaurant, and the manager personally delivered an order of kids mac and cheese within 20 minutes. Solid service! read more

Horrible! We saw TWO MICE run under our table, one ran through the patio and we watched the other RUN INSIDE. We have tried this place a few times with friends and on our own and no matter what we try it's always just o-k. The crab cakes were very unappealing with a strong fish taste so I won't be having those again. Think there are better options in the area. read more

I have absolutely no reason NOT to give 5 Stars! The only complaint I have is that everything is so good, I can't decided what to order. We moved into the area in June, and only recently discovered this gem. First off, the "Pretzel Bites" are addictive! The cheese, bacon and beer sauce comes to the table sizzling hot, and is heavenly. Then we ordered the calamari, it came with deep fried peppers, very thinly sliced, which both my husband and I are not particularly fond of, with a savoury sauce drizzled on top. Well, the peppers were incredible, and the calamari was the most tender we have had, and cooked to perfection! The staff are always first rate! Our new favourite spot! I can't wait to try more! There was 4 tables in the lounge area and we walked passed two servers as we sat down. 3 servers walked passed us multiple times without any eye contact or anyone greeting us. My mom wanted to leave but I insisted we gave them a couple more minutes because maybe they were busy doing something else. One server continued to walk past and clean a table and take a payment without coming over so we just left. My husband and I went for a late supper, he got the Main Burger with fries and gravy and Cesar salad. I got the Steak sandwich with coleslaw and sweet potato fries. Hubby is pretty easy to please, he said everything was good, especially the French fries, but the burger could have used more seasoning or sauce. My $21 steak sandwich was cooked a bit more than medium but the tenderness of it made me not care, it was delicious. I paid an extra $2 or $2.50 for a tiny pile of undercooked, and I suspect also microwaved sweet potato fries. Not good and not worth it. The ginger and cilantro coleslaw looked beautiful, but just tasted like it was splashed with vinegar. Not much taste and was sour and weird. I thought it was going to be a dressing based coleslaw so I wish I had ordered something different. For dessert I ordered the brownie in a jar. The brownie is smaller than the bottom of the jar, and although tasted good, was difficult to break apart with the crusty edges, it's ability to move around and accessing through the top of the small jar. Extremely tiny dessert for $6, tasted good and looked cute but poor value for what you get. I wish I got the pretzel bites which I've enjoyed in the past. We ordered a flatbread and a calamari - both were greasy and over salted and just generally bad tasting.
