Super rude and racist manager Saturday night with named Dan. I came with a friend, and he politely asked for a table. The manager Dan said that he did not have crystal ball and did not care to serve us. He said that my friend gave servers a hard time in the past. Even if this was true (and i know that's not the whole story), he did not even acknowledge me, i had never even been in there. And he did not ask me if i needed help or say he could still serve me. Maybe its because we are brown i do not know. But i will be telling all my family and friends and none of us will he coming here. He should not have treated me this way i did nothing and i was there ready to spend my money. 1/10 rude service. read more

This is the best pub in the city! I've been coming here for about 2 years now! The food, the service is just fantastic!! I wish they kept the christmas lights up year round but aside from that the ambiance is amazing. I've tried most of the dishes on the menu and have never been disappointed. All the appys are so good and the best part of the whole experience is the waitresses. They are some of the nicest ladies i have ever met in my life. They bring you another pop without you having to ask and there's never a moment where you don't have something that you need! I would recommend this place time and time again! read more

Great place to go on a Wednesday! Half price wings & pizza Must try the suicide wings if you like a good hot wing. Their suicide wing is a dry rub instead of being slathered in hot sauce as per usual. However, these wings are not any less hot. They really creep up on you and kick you in the mouth. The only thing good about this place is the servers are lovely. The "fish" and chips is absolutely disgusting. Some kind of pancake batter, instead of regular beer batter - so thick and soft that my fish fell right out onto my plate. And their tartar sauce is certainly not anything I've ever seen before. Also, the noise is unbearable. We all had to shout at each other. The noise wasn't just from patrons but from the game that was on - it doesn't need to be that loud, does it? I've had good food here but they've gotten a new cook (I'd say 2-3 years ago) and that person cannot cook fish and chips. A proper, rowdy, two-fisted drinking joint with passable bar food and lots, no, LOTS of TVs all tuned to whatever is in season. I came with a family member and felt like I was in the middle of any large town U.S. rooting for different NFL football teams. Oy, they take their American football serious up here. Myself and a friend attended here on Saturday August 21 and arrived roughly at 3:20pm. Normally I would give a more favorable review as we have been to side street on a few other occasions. However on Saturday August 21, 2021 would mark the worst service experience either of us have ever encountered from any establishment in our entire lives. We were greeted on arrival by a young brunette haired waitress and made our initial order for beverages. Soon after about 3:35 we placed an order for potato skins as we awaited the 4:00pm start for half price wings. I mentioned to her that we would take an order of hot wings at the 4:00 pm start. We played a few games of pool while waiting for our potato skins which we were certain should be coming soon. At about 4:25 this waitress informed us that she input the order but it was not made so the potato skins they were going to just start. Few minutes later she brought the initial order of hot wings. We then placed an order for 3 different types of wings...and again waited while we ate the initial hot wings we ordered for the start of the wing special which we actually placed before 4:00pm. At any rate we made an order for 3 different types of wings..... while we sat finished our beverages and initial order of hot wings which we placed at about 4:25. She came back around 5:10 informing us that the additional order for wings would not be coming also due to the fact that she input the order but it didn't actually go through or the kitchen didn't receive it..... some mess up! At which point we knew this was getting way out of hand as she botched both the orders for the potato skins at the start and our subsequent wing order. The waitress seemed to really not care at all about service. 45 minutes pass on both orders go onto an hour and then she says they are not coming due to a mess up. She seemed to be either messed up totally, on a bad hangover from partying too much the night before, or whatever the case but she could not have messed up more. When she announced that our second order of the 3 different types of wings did not actually get made.. that was the last straw. To remedy the situation she brought my friend a free beer. We closed our bill and left. My friend and myself agree that on that particular day, it was the absolute worst service we had seen in any establishment in Calgary EVER! I couldn't believe that no manager around or someone to take notice how this waitresses was messing things up like that! Takes an order inputs it, likely didn't submit it properly because both orders we find out after wait in excess of 45 minutes on each occasion for her to come back to tell us the order was not made and that we wouldn't be getting what we ordered 45 mins prior in each circumstance. When we're we going to get the food we ordered? Absolutely the worst service either of us had experienced in our entire lives. Hopefully management and or kitchen staff or peers caught on to this waitress and either corrected her issues inputting food orders so the food actually gets made for the customers and delivered to their table. The service was so bad we thought she was actually kidding after the first order didn't show up in excess of 45 minutes later when she comes back to tell us that. Especially after she came back to inform us after waiting another 45 minutes to tell us that the 3 different orders of wings were also not made! That absolutely ended it right there when we said we will just pay for our bill and leave! I hope she has been corrected as she didn't seem to know what she was doing or was completely out of it! The worst service either of us had ever experienced in our entire lives! Of any establishment in this city. Hands down. We both agree we won't be going back! That was absolutely the worst service I've ever seen or experienced in my entire life and in Calgary! read more

Great atmosphere, location and overall a great place to grab a drink! The pool tables are a nice addition too!

We were on vacation and looking for a place to watch the Dodgers vs. Milwaukee Brewers baseball game. We Yelp'd this spot and got here an hour early before the game and it was empty and there were only a handful of people there. We had the option of picking our seats and a nearby TV for the game. We had a good waitress named Marie that was constantly checking up on us while we were watching the game. We only ordered a variety of appetizers. We had the Wings, potato skins, a basket of onion rings, and a side of small fries. They were all good appetizers! Then we had our favorite beer, Kokanee. After our game ended at around 9pm the place was packed and loud! It was a Saturday night and this place seemed to be the place to be! We were able to relax and enjoy the game and had a lot of fun here since it was welcoming and relaxing. read more

Pretty average pub fare, not impressed with the extra $3.99 for sweet potato fries. Had the beef dip, was pretty good but it needed more onions & mushrooms. Staff was ok, not impressive. I was there with my friend and roommate. My roommate asked had a 6" pizza with feta and pineapple. It looked great with loads of feta and pinnaple. However, I am celiac, and they only had a 10 " version in a GF friendly crust. I decided to order it, but take it home. When I got home with the pizza, there was barely a sprinkle of feta on it. My wife and I tried this place out for lunch and it was wonderful! We sat out on the patio--beer prices were very reasonable, food was tasty and fresh and our server called Beth (I believe, hard to hear thorough the mask) was prompt, extremely attentive and friendly. This isn't my first trip here, but is my first review. First off, best fries I've ever had. Period. Bar none. To top it off, the gravy is very obviously home made, not just mass produced junk. The staff is fantastic, and was every time I've been here. While their choices of beer on tap isn't the best in town, there's more than enough variety for the majority of beer drinkers. Did I mention the fries? Just wow. The patio is great, not massive but a decent size, and in a great spot in Kensington for people watching/interacting. They have great specials, both food wise and drinks wise. To top it off, the man in charge is always wandering through, talking to both regulars and newcomers alike. This is a great place to go for some yummy pub food and sports games. They have pool tables and the place isn't exactly "stylish" or very clean...but it's a pub. It has the right vibe for what it is. Good little pub in Kensington. We were staying downtown and headed out for a walk and lunch. We ended up at Side Street Pub. We were a bit leery when we walked in at 11:30 and there were two patrons. We gave it a shot anyway and were not disappointed. The Bloody Mary was very good. We had the Beef dip sandwich and the wings and the food was great. By 12:30 a good crowd of regulars and non regulars had created a decent crowd. The owner/manager chatted us up a bit. He delivered our food and was very pleasant. If you are looking for a casual spot for lunch with good food and a great atmosphere this is the spot. There are also pool tables if you are wanting to play a game or two. Been here twice now for late lunch and both times were good experiences. The staff are super friendly and efficient, and always stop by to ask if you're ok or need anything. On our most recent visit, my wife and I had a plan to share some nacho appetizers and then share an entree. Bad mistake: the nachos are GINORMOUS and could easily feed a peewee hockey team. We ate the nachos and that filled us up for lunch and dinner! So, don't order the nachos unless you're with a group of at least four people or that's all you're eating for the day. Went there before one love concert. Was really good. Fast service, super friendly. It was Saturday so flavored vodka was on special had three: grape, watermelon and vanilla all with ginger ale. Made very well. Ordered BLT with fries (make sure you get the fries) eff best fries I've had in a longgg time. I already miss them. BLT was delicious on ryeno cheese for me. Hit this place with a girlfriend on a Saturday while we were on a bike ride through Kensington. Service was great - our waitress was friendly and polite and the venue itself was open & clean. Food was AMAZING and reasonably priced. Only thing we didn't like was how once 8:30/9pm hit, the music shifted from top 40's to heavy rap music and the volume was cranked. The crowd started getting more rowdy & seedy as the music shifted & the time got later so we didn't feel comfortable staying and left much earlier then we had planned. We'll definitely be going back because of the amazing food, but will avoid it in the evenings. read more

I have to say the new owner has done an excellent job of transforming this pub into what is. The staff are great, the food is great and everyone working there is on the ball. The owner is a big stocky guy and he catches every detail and makes sure everything is perfect. Side Street is fast becoming the new hot spot in kensington for sure.
