This place was awesome. We love to hit up arcade bars everywhere we go and this place did not disappoint. We went right when it opened so we ended up paying for an hour of unlimited play which was perfect. It wasn't super busy so we pretty much got to play what we wanted. Although I have enjoyed greta bar in the past. Being racially profiled by a waitress who didn't trust that the girls we came in with knew us and questioned us about it definitely killed the mood. I understand that she was looking out for people, it just seemed odd that put of everyone at the bar who were also drinking that we were spoken to about whether we knew our friends who had walked in with us. read more

Went to this place in the afternoon, trying to avoid the major crowds of the evening. Little did we know they have a pretty decent happy hour, so it was pretty crowded :P.. That being said, super fun place with great deals at certain times of day (or certain nights). Not sure what the repeatability factor is - when we left, we felt we had exhausted all the options of games. Decent food and good beer choices though, and the line up for the evening crowd made me think it turned more into bar crowd with a side of games, rather than the games being the focal point. All in all, had a fun time checking out the place. As an interesting piece of history, this queer friendly spot actually used to be one of the city's gay bars a couple of decades ago! read more

Very fun place with a combination of arcade games, drinks and a dance floor! Lots of old arcade games and also a few newer ones. It was fun seeing 4 people playing Mario Kart. We went on a Saturday and the place was crowded! The dance floor opened around 10pm and the DJ did a good job with the music. However at some point it got very warm and we decided to go back to the main floor, which was still warm but at least we could breath. I'd highly recommend the manager to put at least some ceiling fans. They have a very good deal on Sundays which is $5/hour games. read more

I ordered food from GRETA on Uber eats, partially expecting to be let down. I wanted a sandwich while my S.O wanted Japanese, and instead of making two separate orders or continuing drawn out simplistic platitudes, we settled on giving GRETA a shot. Again, being that this is a regular bar and pub food, we did not expect much from the order. We were very wrong. The Cubano sandwich was actually fantastic. We ordered a side of Baos and their homemade ice cream. All items were shockingly well crafted, and delicious. The Baos were soft, yet fluffy, and reminiscent of the drunk Tokyo street food style. The ice-cream was clearly hand made, egg nog flavored, with excellent consistency and true-to-form ice cream satisfaction. Most impressively, the packaging of the items was simply phenomenal. The fries kept their crisp and all food travelled wonderfully. A second order a week later of their 5$ burger and some perogies, validated and cemented my opinions. Greta has established itself as a viable option for any of my food ordering needs during this pandemic. I cannot recommended trying it enough. read more

Well I was so excited to visit this place, #1 it was featured on burwoods Instagram page for its grand opening, and I was looking for an arcade/pinball place! It did not disappoint at first! Numerous choices for arcade games, my favourite being bubble bobble, galaga, space invaders, and frogger to name a few! Drink and food selection was good, sat at the bar and decided we wanted to be here for the rest of the evening! UNTIL we informed the bartender Brendan we were going to go play games, I gave them my credit card to hold m, and had our jackets on the chairs with fries there and my hubby's phone! When my hubby returned to order more drinks our food was gone and someone else in our seats with phone put behind bar, our jackets still on chairs???? So manager Amy told my husband sorry for inconvenience you won't be charged for fries and comp your 2 drinks! Okay that's reasonable until we paid bill, I was charged for everything, we complained to Taylor after paying and tipping 20% manager came and refunded me fries and that's it???? I said what about the inconvenience but because I'm deaf there was no explanation given and we felt treated like dirt!!? I'm thinking if you're older do not go there they only cater to young people and we paid $6 for coat check and $99 for games card that we won't go back to use!!! We were royally screwed!! But why would they care? We are only a drop in a bucket, and for Friday evening we don't even matter they are so busy!! Too bad, we were having fun.............. read more

Never faced racism this bad before . If you are a person of colour .. heads up .. stay away from this place. There were lot of people vaping openly inside the bar. I am a guy who never smoked in my life . The manager picked me because I was a guy of colour . I told her I don't vape and I never smoked in my life, but she insist that she saw me vaping . I could smell alcohol from her when she was speaking to me . She was drinking on the job. Then the bouncers started pushing us around and bang my head towards the wall . I started bleeding profusely .  At the door two bouncers kicked us again and used profinity and slurs regarding my skin colour . They hit my friend with the Id scanning machine and Pinned us to the ground and started punching us on the head . One of my front teeth was broken. I was treated this way because I was a coloured guy. No wonder the place is so empty . Worst racist management and manager drinking at the job . Never going back again . Wish I could give this horrible place less than one star ! read more

I took my sweater off when I was dancing with my boyfriend and the bouncer approached me to ask that I put it back on because my tank top was too revealing, however there were many girls there wearing a LOT less. It felt a lot like homophobic discrimination, so we left immediately. The posts on their FB page alleging racist attacks don't surprise me. read more

ReGRETA. Tried to hit up the patio. It was pretty dead, so I didn't think it would be an issue. However, the manager was very particular that the fire tables ... which were empty... were reserved for parties of three or more and we were only two. This also happened to the couple in front of us. The only table that was available wasn't located near a heat lamp and at 7pm with no sun and plus 9 degrees that would have been a bit too chilly. Instead of serving us and the couple in front of us at his beloved fire tables (once again.... empty), he chose to lose all four of us... during a pandemic.... with no other customers in sight. Game nerds assemble. Wow. Every type of game from ones at carnivals and chuck e cheez to pinball. The cocktails are amazing. The food is all international style street food and it is fantastic. We had a Birthday party booked and confirmed yesterday @ 5pm for ten people. When we all showed up Greta claimed they had no record of our booking and had no room for us. We provided them the email confirmation they were unapologetic and made us feel like we were a burden. They allowed us to sit downstairs at another table that was booked for 630pm event and told us we had to leave by 615 pm. No concessions, no apologies, no communication from management. Horrible experience. The National a couple blocks away was very accommodating. read more

I gave a vague rating because I still don't now what I think of the place. We went for a work function during the holidays, and we did have fun. So let's sum up the vibe first. Tons of arcade games including pinball, Mario Kart, Walking Dead, foosball and air hockey, and lots of retro arcade games like Ms. Pacman, TMNT, Mortal Kombat, etc. The games are scattered all over the two story building, which is nice. When the place is busy, tho, it's wall-to-wall bodies and you'd be hard pressed to get on the game you want in a short period of time. There's a bar in the basement and one on the main floor, and the service was really good. And yes, there's a "Food Truck" inside - well the kitchen pass window is decorated in a half truck facade. Very cool idea. However, the food was not outstanding. We ordered a majority of the street-food style appetizers, which make up the lion's share of the menu. I was very excited to try the Ginger Beef Bao Buns, but my first bite all I got was a huge piece of lemongrass and it burned and numbed my whole mouth! That's like not taking the bay leaf out of your stew and eating the whole thing. yuck. Their fries were decent but not amazing, I enjoyed the Jamaican patties and the Green Mango Salad was ok. What was not ok was the pathetic attempt at Coleslaw. Now to be fair, I'm not sure if it's on the menu or if my coworker just ordered it to go with the pastrami sandwiches (which were apparently good but I didn't get to try it), but we literally got a bowl of plain green cabbage that apparently had a weak vinaigrette on it. It looked awful and flavorless, and it lived up to that. Like, did you not have a red onion or red cabbage or something to jazz it up? If you don't have the ingredients, don't sell it! (i'm hoping it was only like $2 cuz then I wouldn't complain as much). They have lots of great beers on tap and in bottles, however most of their cocktails are trying too hard, and most of them are for a large group. Good luck finding 3 friends to share your basil/cucumber/gin slush bucket! This place is definitely for the hipster crowd, but I did like the idea that this place allows strangers to interact in a non-creepy way. Perhaps this will help the internet generation with dating? Where else can you go and talk to a stranger about the fun game you're playing and not feel weird about it? read more

Went here on the weekend for food and drinks, food was great! Such a neat selection of food to choose from, I ordered the beef bao and my friends ordered the mango salad and curriewurst. The games were fun but it got super busy around 9pm and it was almost impossible to get on to any games.. so I would suggest going earlier if you want to play games when it's less busy. It got pretty cramped in there pretty fast. But all in all a fun time! read more

Unique late night playground for adults. We had an after party here this past weekend, looking for a place to dance. They have a tiny dance floor in the basement that BADLY needs a fan or some kind of ventilation. It gets very hot in there and any stink lingers. You can always tell when someone has bad B-O or cut the cheese when the dance floor clears out pretty quickly. So gross! Music was OK. Drinks downstairs were great! One of the lady bartenders made my favorite broken down golf cart shooters - the best! I recently organized a large (+250 people) event at Greta and I am so happy with how everything turned out! Seamus was amazing at helping me organize the event and then Jamison and the awesome team of bartenders, kitchen staff and servers made sure everyone was looked after. So great to see such a young and enthusiastic team working so well together. Our group had a blast playing games and socializing. Full marks for location, atmosphere and clean washrooms as well. The food was good too. I wasn't sure what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised at the quality and variety. I would not hesitate to recommend Greta as a venue for large groups and I look forward to organizing more events there in the future. Thank you so much for a great experience. read more

Service was hit and miss. Bartender Jesse was rude, server upstairs was confused, but server downstairs was good. Don't think Greta bar knows what it is doing yet. Feel bad for the servers trying to track down tables on different floors, customers trying to hold tables and play games at the same time, and people wasting time and money on 3 out of 4 broken pinball tables. Not sure who the target audience is here: if you want to play games, stay home. If you want to drink... go anywhere else. read more

I've never wrote a review before but I am genuinely upset. I have been to this bar a handful of times and each time I've had the same experience with the same people. Seems like a fun place to go before 9pm but after that time watch out because you may get thrown out for slipping on a spilled beer on the floor. The bouncers/managers are on power trips and have no respect for others nor talk to other people like humans more like idiots. If I'm getting kicked out I want a reason why, not "you just looked too drunk" and then forced to wait in the cold. Seriously if you go here watch yourself. Judgment is WAY off as well as how they treat people. Even the bouncers taking ID's acted like they were better than everyone and knew it. read more

I went here with my friends and we had an absolute blast! It was super super busy but if you're patient and wait for the game you can have a lot of fun! I didn't try the food so I can't comment on it but I had a lot of fun in their walking dead game ! My only complaint is that you don't redeem your points for anything. Maybe a childish request but I wouldn't mind maybe Greta merch or stickers or anything if you spend a lot of money there and play tons of games !If you don't like this place,you're not giving the games a fair chance! SOOOOOOO IMPRESSED! I have a dietary restriction that usually causes more than a few problems when I eat out. Upon hearing about my restriction, the waitress notified the manager, who notified the cook, who came out to SPECIFICALLY see what they could do to accommodate me. I've never had service like this before. I highly recommend this place. My server, Sarah, was incredibly attentive, the staff were awesome, and the food was great!
