When we were ready to pay, it was difficult to get our server's attention. My husband eventually had to approach her across the patio, and she processed our payment while standing right there. It seemed like they were short-staffed the day we visited, which might explain the delays, but the lack of attention was still frustrating. Extensive menu, lots of choices for both food and drinks. We ordered, and while it took a fair time to get our order (again, it was busy, so I get it), it was so worth it! Our table got a BLT sandwich with tots, a clubhouse with tots, a wild boar smash burger with fries and a chicken wrap with fries. All the food looked picture perfect, and we all had nothing but good things to say about our meals. Our server was honestly a breath of fresh air. Very personable, and despite the bustling atmosphere, took time to have some quick conversations with us, which was a pleasant surprise from the usual bar/pub serving staff. My server was the fantastic Jackie. Down-to-earth friendliness, efficient and helpful. We got along very well. I opted for their Fortunella Gin with Tonic. Fantastic flavors and quite smooth. Two of those and I was feeling fine. For lunch I ordered the Steak Sandwich with a Caesar Salad. The salad was substantial and tasty. The steak sandwich had good flavor, but was tougher and fattier than I hoped for. Jackie also offered exceptional assistance with some merchandise I bought as well. We enjoyed the better part of 3 hours chatting about our time together at Shell, trading insights on Company news, and talking family and friends. The Bear & Kilt was a great place to catch up. Yes, it's a bit noisy, depending what game is on the television, and it was after all a Friday night. However, with a booth, a "few" wee pints (I walked here, while Jim took public transit), and some pretty good pub grub, our time together flowed easily, and perhaps too quickly. The wait guy, was pretty cool too, and took my joking California requests for organic food with sprouts in great sarcastic stride. This pub is not fine dining (which is available close by), but it sure is a great place for friends to reconnect. Next time, I'll try on one of those hats.

They have great daily discounts that rotate. I've been with friends here more than a few times and the trivia nights are the best, free to play, and the prizes are a $50 gift Vintage Foods gift card and case of local beer! Staff are awesome and food is good, I've enjoyed the Big Moose pizza (ground beef toppings!) , the club, their smokey bbq double cooked wings, and their garlic shrimp and cheese toast sides are delish. The salad was underdressed, and the Arancini, while hot, lacked the tomato sauce that would have elevated the dish. Minor issues, but we moved on. Unfortunately, the main course experience was disappointing. After waiting 45 minutes, our entrees finally arrived--at room temperature. At that point, we were too hungry to send them back and wait another 20 minutes. When we shared our concerns, the staff initially offered complimentary desserts, which felt inadequate given the circumstances. After further discussion, they comped both entrees and provided a $25 gift certificate, which was a fair gesture and appreciated. The GM and Bobby personally apologized and invited us to ask about "little surprises" in the wine cellar next time, which was a nice touch. Overall, great wine and recovery effort, but the kitchen timing and food temperature need serious improvement. Hoping for a better experience next time because the potential is there.

Do NOT BOOK this hotel. They have black out dates that does not pop up or flag when you book the…read morerooms. I followed the more than 48 hour rule to cancel the room without penalty and was told that its was during their blackout period and should have read the fine print. I'm really not even sure if that is legal. The hotel takes the full amount of the charge for the room at the time of booking, not at the time of check in and keeps the money regardless of when you cancel if it falls "in their black out period" that is not clearly identified when booking those dates. You better not have plans change or have a family emergency! RIP OFF. Buyer beware, do not book.
