Lunch time
Vilma R.

My first time visiting this local pub. We came here for lunch in between wine fest shows on a Saturday afternoon and it was quite busy. Our server was absolutely excellent. I love when servers give you the real honest opinion and help you avoid disappointment in your meal. She gave some delicious recommendations between the meals we were debating on. I had the beef dip sandwich, added caramelized onions, mushrooms, and Swiss cheese. The au jus was delicious and you could tell it was homemade. I paired it with a Cesar salad which was also really yummy with some house made dressing. Overall I would definitely come back to this place again. The bathrooms were clean but located down a set of stairs so not 100% accessible. Great food, great beer, and great service!!

Went back to St James and was able to try out their Beef Dip and Chips! It was really solid! They were also able to change the TV channel upon request so I was able to watch some soccer - it was much appreciated.

A friend of mine and I enjoyed going to this bar and having drinks and food. Draft beer was $5 and selected food items were $10. They have installed plexiglass and extra space between tables to comply with the physical distancing requirements. This place has a nice atmosphere and the music wasn't too loud which allowed us to talk without shouting so we could hear each other. Service was friendly and timely. We had a very good experience over all. I look forward to visiting this pub again.

St. James Corner has a great decor and atmosphere but under the surface it is just another run of the mill Fridays or Chilies. Overpriced drinks, mediocre food, and staff that is happy to collect a paycheck but has no real skin the game. We ordered a few mint juleps which end up costing us something like 90 Loonies with a Caesar and flatbread appetizer. Totally ridiculous. The bar was out of the house bourbon but instead of stepping us up to the top shelf stuff they charged us full price for it. We had been bar hopping all weekend and just wanted to relax in one spot so we stuck it out. In hindsight we should have moved on sooner. With the many great options in the area I would consider someplace else. We sure won't be going back.

Great service from ray at this pub today after my crazy hell of a work day. Clean place. And great food. I'll be back for sure.

The menu is way smaller now and things have gone downhill since managaemt change. We came on a Friday and it was pretty empty. I got the chicken avocado salad which I have had before and glad its still in the menu and tastes the same. They didn't know how to make white wine spritzer, my friend ordered one and brought her glass of wine and a glass of soda seperately.

Get the Alberta Lamb Burger. It's a work of delicious art and I never say that kind of drivel about food - but it was damn tasty.

I've seen live music from acoustic to funk to metal to electronic and I've had the best time every single time I go. The layout makes it an incredible live music pub. There's an elevated stage, and the further you get from the stage, the more chill the room becomes. A substantial dance floor for the people who are really into the music right up front, a side stage lounge-ish area with couches, bar tables for the sit down and enjoy crowd, pool tables at the back and even a 'library' section that is almost and entirely different room. Energetic live music at the front, and enjoyable live background music that won't interupt your conversation at the back. Well done Dickens. I never realized it before last night, but Dicken's food menu is actually awesome! They have a fry bar where you can choose you cut of potato, your topping - ranging from choices like "Christmas" which looked to be a sugar cinnamon thing or Truffle Parmesan. You can even get sauces like Guiness Curry to dip them in. It's going to take me a long time to get through all these combinations. I ordered the chicken and waffles for $12 and really enjoyed it. Blackened grilled chicken, cornbread waffle and a spicy Cajun sauce! I think I will check out the pizza next time as it looks like they're something a little special as well. You do a live music bar really really well, Dickens. It's ridiculous that I don't spend 5+ days a week here.

It's a cheap club with high prices. Expensive beer, mold in the food…read more The service is good, but nothing special.
