This is not your ordinary pub. It offers more! Came here for a firm event (not my firm). We had a section of the basement area booked. There are 8 bowling lanes downstairs. We came during happy between 3 and 6pm. I got the strawberry lemonade alcoholic drink and a ginger beer. I also got to try the: 1. Honey Garlic Wings: which tasted like honey mustard wings. It was ok not wow 2. Nachos: nice crispy nachos with lots of cheesy dipping 3. Mesquite Bacon and Roasted Mushroom Pizza: It was ok and somewhat lacking in bacon or meat. But again, they only offer 3 different kinds of pizza with one of them being a vegetarian pizza. 4. Korean Fried Chicken: Ok, that was my favorite item out of everything I tasted here. They were so good The chicken was juicy in the center. 5. Sausage and Pretzels: The pretzels were somewhat disappointing. It wasn't as soft as I hope it would be. I am not a fan of sausage so I didn't try any 6. Pulled Pork Tacos: The pulled pork was super dried. I wish there were more sauce. But on the bright-side at least there are lots of meat. 7. Salt and Pepper Wings: Ok... I am not a big fan of anything with lots of pepper in them. But these salt and pepper wings were really really good. It went really well with the ranch dipping sauce. The chicken was juicy and the outside skin was crunchy. It was perfect. Overall, I really liked them. Food portion size was not bad and all the food came pretty quick. We also played 2 rounds of bowling. Guess what my bowling name was? Yup, I am Yelp1. So played 2 games. First game came in 3rd place and second game came in 2nd place. I got lucky. The game went smooth. No pins or balls got stuck. I did find the bowling ball weight or size is somewhat limiting. There were more L or XL balls than S size balls. They don't have a place where I can pick up more S balls. So I usually have to wait for the 8 or 9 to return. It could also be the lane I was playing in too. Overall, both games were super fun. I had a fun night. Looks like this place gets super busy after work hours. The lady managing the bowling shoes was working very fast. Overall, I highly recommend Nationals. I would say out of all the Nationals that I have been to, this one is so far my favorite. Note that in the summer time, they have the patio at the top floor open. This would be great for those outdoor people who wants to get a tan while eating/enjoying their day. Definitely a fun memorable day for me. Had great food, met some new friends and played some fun games here. Wow... a place where you can do all that. JUST GREAT!

This is a great place for food and drink... if there is no where else to go which is not possible on 10th. This place is not good because of the Bowling! We wanted to try the bowling at the National so we got there about 5pm and had dinner and got our name on a waiting list for bowling. Food and service was good upstairs! We got a call that we could get a bowling lane for 30minutes so we paid our bill quickly and headed downstairs. For the two of us to bowl for 30 minutes is was $48 dollars!! I was stunned. When our time was up, even though we only had one frame left, the lane shut down and that was it. Really not good value ... at all but a cool concept and now that I have experienced it once I do not need to experience it again.

Typical pub fare. We got there about half an hour before happy hour so we decided to order a salad and wait until happy hour to order the rest. The food was pretty decent and the servers were very nice.

National has such amazing food, drinks and an amazing bowling alley! Definitely recommend checking this spot out! The service was amazing too. We will definitely be back again when we're in Calgary again.

3.5/5 The National has a bowling alley as well as a bar upstairs (and a ping pong table further up). This review is strictly for the bar, as the bowling alley was closed for a private event the night I was there. They have a very diverse menu in here, as well as daily specials. I had the clive burger, coupled with the Last Best IPA. The clive burger was very good, and I even liked the clive sauce that came with it. The IPA was decent, but man I had to get used to the higher prices for alcohol in this province... Service was a bit disorganized as nobody came to take our order for the first 20 minutes, and we had our orders messed up a couple of occasions as well. My friends and I also played ping pong upstairs, which was fun. However again they took a while to bring the equipment to us. Definitely something they could work on in the future.

Happy hour is always a good time at National. Good food and great drinks (boyfriend loves the Nemesis IPA from Zero Issue) I love the Meadjito! They occasionally have issues with the keg (which takes a long time to replace) or they don't have certain drinks on tap due to shortages (bummer!). Sometimes it's a long wait for service as you seat yourself and they don't notice that you sit down until you wave/flag someone down to take your order.

I've been to National on 17th, and I enjoy it. National on 10th just opened up and as a few things to iron out, and I'm sure once they do, they'll be just as rad. I was here with a few friends (and strangers) last night and while service was friendly, it was pretty inattentive. We sat there for over two hours and most of it was spent waiting for our waitress to come back. She asked us if we needed more time deciding what to drink, and then disappeared for twenty minutes. When she finally came back, we were not only ready to drink, we were also ready to order food, but she said she needed to come back for that. Nearly ten minutes later she came back to take our food orders. None of our orders were overly complicated either: veggie burger, two plates of crackers and beer cheese, couple of turkey burgers. Food here tastes exactly like it does on 17th, so no surprises there. Fries are good, and I love the habanero hot sauce they have on every table. If you order the 3 oz Dark and Stormy as opposed to the 1.5 oz, you'll save money and also get a Costco Edition Dark and Stormy. It was as big as my torso. I needed a nap and a cuddle afterward. If one of the ladies at our table hadn't finally gotten up in frustration to flag down our waitress so we could settle up, we'd probably still be waiting. Looking around, it wasn't particularly busy, so I'm not exactly sure what the hold up was. I think the waitress mentioned something about the kitchen. Get it together, National 10th! Then, we can be homies!

After our meeting, a vendor offered to take my coworker and I out to lunch and I suggested we try out the newly opened National close by. Since it was only 11:30 it wasn't busy yet and we got seated right away. It's a relatively large venue (they have a bowling alley downstairs!) and tables are nicely spaced apart so it's not too crowded. The four of us got seated in the middle of an enormous benched table (one of the vendors mentioned the set up is like a German beer hall) and our waitress quickly came over with menus. Chalkboard tablets on pillars inform you of the beer specials and the large tally board (it looks like those old school train station schedules) lists the plethora of beers they have available. I ordered on the Strawberry Lemonade (bourbon, strawberry and homemade lemonade) and all four of us got burgers. Since the ground beef is actually ground in house, the waitress informed us we had an option of how we wanted our burgers cooked (I still went with well done). Our food came out pretty quick, the burger was dressed with fresh lettuce and tomato on a bun adorned with a sliced pickle. The burger was a good size, I managed to eat it all without feeling overly full. (I'm a fry fanatic so I thought the little tin cup of fries was a bit disappointing, but that's just me!) I enjoyed my experience, I will defintiely be back with my beer and burger loving boyfriend soon!

Here's what we ordered: Mango boba - surprisingly tart and could've used a bit of sweetness Peanut chicken salad - flavorful and refreshing, with noodles at the bottom Fish tacos with sweet potato fries - the beer-battered fish was crispy and delicious While the food was solid and the patio atmosphere was great, the service really impacted our experience. When we were ready to pay, it was difficult to get our server's attention. My husband eventually had to approach her across the patio, and she processed our payment while standing right there. It seemed like they were short-staffed the day we visited, which might explain the delays, but the lack of attention was still frustrating. Overall, good food and a nice setting, but I'd give it 3.5 stars due to the service issues

Food here is just alright. Fish tacos weren't bad but the fish wasn't crispy at all. The quasedilla "tortilla" was a little thick. The meat in the BBQ rice bowl was pretty good, but the ratio of rice to everything else was too high. The salad was pretty good and quite a large serving. We had A LOT of trouble flagging down our waitress, especially near the end when we were ready to pay, which was quite frustrating and the main reason I'm docking stars. However, I will say the setup outside is really nice. There are hanging plants, pretty large tables, music that's not too loud, and overall a nice vibe. I think for a slow, casual evening out this place will have you covered.

The wine list isn't huge, but what they offer is curated and impressive. We ordered the Wedge Salad and Truffled Arancini. Both arrived about 15 minutes later. The salad was underdressed, and the Arancini, while hot, lacked the tomato sauce that would have elevated the dish. Minor issues, but we moved on. Unfortunately, the main course experience was disappointing. After waiting 45 minutes, our entrees finally arrived--at room temperature. At that point, we were too hungry to send them back and wait another 20 minutes. When we shared our concerns, the staff initially offered complimentary desserts, which felt inadequate given the circumstances. After further discussion, they comped both entrees and provided a $25 gift certificate, which was a fair gesture and appreciated. The GM and Bobby personally apologized and invited us to ask about "little surprises" in the wine cellar next time, which was a nice touch. Overall, great wine and recovery effort, but the kitchen timing and food temperature need serious improvement. Hoping for a better experience next time because the potential is there.
