Yay, a real beer bar in the SE!…read more While I was excited last year for Craft opening at South Centre and no longer having to venture downtown for a good beer experience, I'm even more excited for these guys opening stumbling-ish distance from my house. What's really great about Beer Revolution and working in my favour, is that my non-beer drinking wife loves their pizza. So I get to come try a bunch of brews and she gets a Wilbur. So much winning for my family. We came Wednesday night, opening night, for dinner and went early as we expected it to be busy. The patio was about half full but otherwise there were only a few tables inside that were taken. The former Chili's, former Kelsey's, building hasn't changed on the outside other than a great new paint job, but the inside is now completely open with a giant oval bar in the (almost) middle of the space. There's lots of booths around the perimeter. a good number of TV's showing whatever game is on, and the patio has a dozen or so tables with umbrellas. For their opening the beer list was dominated by local options, though more of the seasonal selections. Like Tool Shed's Double Tap DIPA instead of say Star Cheek or Red Rage. But as I write this a couple days later, the beer list may have changed a bunch already as they're constantly tapping new, fresh kegs. In addition to the aforementioned Wilbur pizza, it was also wing night. I went with a pound of the apple bbq flavour. Really great apple flavour. Seems like there's some apple sauce mixed in to the bbq sauce instead of just juice or whatever apple flavouring many places use. Service was good, though having just opened there's a few bugs to work out. Nothing bad worth mentioning.

First, we arrive for our reservation and every table in the room is unclean and disgusting. They tried to seat us at a table with a table cloth covered in stains and crumbs. Two of the chairs had food smeared on them and the employee looked confused when I pointed it out and refused to sit on the dirty chair. So she took us to the next table with a dirty table cloth, but since there was no crumbs on it and the chairs didn't have food on them, it would be fine, right? The food was quite disappointing. Cold and dried out from just sitting there. You couldn't chew through the ginger beef, it was so stale. The sauce for the dried out fish was separated and the fat layer solidified. Soup wasn't hot. You had two options to choose from with the Tomahawk they were carving and serving - either jerky tough well done, or thin sliced fat cooked to medium. It was flavourless. I could literally go on and on. I tried pretty much everything from the spread. There was no cutlery on the tables and I had to hunt down an employee to bring some forks and knives while my family picked at their food. No water was offered or on the table. Took probably 15-20 minutes to get drinks from the time we sat down with our food. Children were running around using their own cutlery to serve themselves, licking them clean in between each station. The employees turned a blind eye even though they were watching this happen (specifically the gentlemen working the steak and ham station). The women's bathroom was filthy. Toilet paper and paper towels all over the floor, not to mention FOUR toilets filled with crap. Like gross massive dumps. I mentioned it to the hotel front desk and all they did was come into the bathroom, flush the toilets and leave. I have been to Rendesvouz numerous times and never experienced this pathetic level of quality and service. I'm beyond disgusted and angry. I can understand why they tacked on the mandatory gratuity for this event, because it surely wasn't earned and I would not have paid almost $400 for 2 mimosas, 3 soft drinks and 5 meals (3 adults and 2 kids) if I knew this was going to happen. We left hungry and completely dissatisfied. Thanks for ruining our Mother's Day.
