The place is marvellous very nice and intimate we got seated right away and service was spectacular! Our waiter remembered all our orders.. We decided to get some nice champagne for the table and celebrate friendship! It was really fabulous! This place gave me a lot of Mediterranean/ middle eastern vibes with Moroccan decor Food: We were hangry so we ordered a bunch of appies / and 2 mains It came out cooked to perfection! My all time favourite was the grilled halloumi cheese it was absolutely divine! The fried zucchini latkes were a tad burned so hoping they can adjust it next time My grilled chicken tzatziki was extremely tender and the meat was absolutely cooked perfectly wow I was impressed! The lamb was amazing and arguably the best dish .. I mean we loved everything but this was amazing! I would definitely order the lamb over again next time I am back!! The prawns were delicious as well! The dough balls with honey were really yummy and crispy outside and extremely doughy on the inside Overall, This place was just amazing , quick and hit the spot! Would definitely recommend and come back in a heartbeat Cheers

Restaurant wasn't terribly busy - probably because it was Super Bowl Sunday!!! Seated promptly - there are only four seats for the omakaze experience. You have a view of all the preparation of the food - sat right in front of the charcoal grill which emanated heat through the glass. The starts of the experience - the Hokkaido scallop and the chicken ass (only available on the omakaze experience and cannot be ordered in the regular dining room now). Never felt rushed, unlimited sides. Only thing that could be improved is difficulty hearing the server and chef over the background music and restaurant noise. Also some of the background music didn't seem to suit the environment (pretty sure I heard some Dr Dre!!)

Shokunin had a fun vibe upon entering. The staff were friendly and knew the menu. I thought food was a bit underwhelming. Nigiri were decent - some tasted better than others. Yakitori took a long time to make and were salty. Kale salad was the most disappointing bc I was told that it's refreshing and a fan favorite. The dressing was creamy and heavy, and the kale were whole bunches and not chopped up for ease of eating. Cocktail was also very mid and I had no desire to order a second one.

Everything about this place is top notch: the food, the vibe, and the people. Our server was incredibly knowledgeable about vegan food and made fantastic recommendations. The hot pot was hands down the best curry I've ever tasted. The sauce had this gorgeous brightness and depth that made every bite unforgettable. The yam fries with miso gravy were exceptional, and the peanut sauce with the tofu satay was absolute perfection. The dinner ambiance was lovely and cozy and you can tell the servers genuinely enjoy their jobs. That kind of positive energy makes the whole experience even better. If you're in Calgary, vegan or not, The Coup is a must visit. Phenomenal food, phenomenal service, phenomenal atmosphere.

My partner and I went for happy hour, and we were the only ones in the restaurant when we walked in just after 4pm. I really liked having a bit of a quieter atmosphere. Our server was quite personable and recommended a variety of dishes. We got the Brussels sprouts, satay broccoli, eggplant nigiri, and the soup of the day (Indian style tomato chickpea). The Brussels sprouts were punchy in flavor, and the broccoli was nicely fried with an earthy peanuty sauce. I would highly recommend both. I also got the Sunny cider, which wasn't too sweet. To finish off, we got the ube cake to go. Unfortunately it wasn't our favorite, and it was too small a portion to be priced at $12 in my opinion. With happy hour discounts, our bill came out to about $60 including tax and tip. Not cheap, but it works nicely for a little "treat yourself here and there" outing. Hoping to go back sometime in the new year!
