My family of 5 and I joined the yelp waitlist on a Sunday morning and waited about 30 min after our estimated seating time, so overall about an hour since joining the list. luckily we were staying at an air bnb walking distance away so got to the restaurant when we were 3rd in line so expect quite a wait on the weekends but I think it was worth it Once we sat down, and ordered, the food came out pretty quick and was so good! I appreciate all their duck options since it's not something you usually see at breakfast spots. I got the duck Benedict and my brother got the duck breakfast poutine. So tender and flavorful. Ten of us descended upon OEB in Bridgeland on a busy Monday over the holidays. The OEB team was ready for our reservation and was very welcoming. As a mix of kids and adults, we had a range of tastes and desires and if you haven't looked at the menu yet, pause and have a look, it has something for everyone. I chose the traditional Benny with Rosemary ham and a side of hard wood smoked bacon. Spectacular! The crepes were a hit, though they were attacked quickly preventing any photos. The staff were accommodating, knowledgeable about the menu and kept us all feeling well taken care of. This was an amazing brunch spot!!! We came right around 2:30, only 15 minutes before the restaurant closed and we were still seated and served!!! Understandably, we couldn't order certain menu items, but we were able to order two of the different breakfast poutines and the vegetarian crepe. All three dishes were delicious. The gold digga poutine was probably my favorite - had pieces of pork belly mixed in with the perfectly crisp fries, and truffle gravy. The poutine with short rib was also delicious - had sautéed onions, peppers, and mushroom with a flavorful beef gravy and cheese curds. The vegetarian crepe was good, but nothing too too special. The crepe itself was very impressively thin and the perfect canvas for the scrambled eggs and vegetables inside. We will have to come back to try some of their sweet options next time!! read more

I was a total OEB fanboy even giving it a couple last chances but unfortunately they have succumbed to corporate greed and now even Denny's is a better option. The final blow was paying nearly 30 bucks for basic bacon and eggs with a regular coffee. The eggs were the highlight and cooked perfectly. The potatoes, once a good star of all things potato, were now just another average hash, cooked sometime in the last few hours. The bacon, while clearly something that could be spectacular was cooked probably yesterday and piled in a warmer. All of this topped with one piece of cold toast..... you read that right, ONE piece of average at best toast......that wouldn't even melt the whipped butter provided on the side. My boyfriend and I came here for an authentic "Canadian" brunch! The Caesar's were really good; my boyfriend got the gold digga poutine and I got the eggs Benedict. They were both really good! We had breakky here for my mom's birthday and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! The dining area is very clean and has great aesthetics. Love the music playing that day as well, even my daughter started dancing to it as soon as she got in the restaurant. They also have great servers that are very prompt and personable. Very accommodating with my food restrictions as well. Not to mention it is very family friendly and kid friendly. They have an alright vegan menu, which would be nice if they had maybe 2 or more savoury vegan options. The food we ordered were all were large portions and very tasty! The atmosphere has a very upbeat urban vibe and you can feel it full force as soon as you walk in. Perfect for a meal with friends or just for good eats. Music is on the louder side so not ideal for intimate or high conversational gatherings. Everything we ordered was great! I had the lobster and shrimp crepe and it was great. They didn't hold back on the seafood, and the sauce for the crepe was rich and creamy. Topped with some caviar and you have the perfect bite. The service was top knotch, and a definitely a selling point. We were checked on multiple times, and the coffee was kept full at all times. I was looking for a hearty meal for a late lunch that would hold me over for the rest of the day. Cue OEB Breakfast with their breakfast poutines. When in Canada .. * THE SOUL IN A BOWL This is a fancy take on poutine - beef tallow fried potatoes wedges with cheese curds, bacon pieces, poached eggs, and hollandaise sauce. I like that there are several ways you can customize the poutine - can sub greens (multiple options for greens) for potatoes or do 50/50, choose how the egg should be cooked, and you even get to pick what type of hot sauce you want if you opt for it. I tried to be healthier so I did a mix of potatoes and arugula, and I got my eggs runny. The poutine was more filling than what is depicted. Even with getting half greens I still felt like there was plenty of potato and there was more bacon than I thought. The bacon was thick cut, not like the crispy bacon strips. One thing I look for in cheese curds is the squeak and unfortunately these didn't have them. I also would've liked to see more curds in the bowl. The eggs were cooked perfectly so I had the runny yolk to dip the wedges into. All around this was an innovative twist on poutine but I prefer the simple, classic dish. The waitstaff was so friendly, cheerful, and patient as I was ordering (it threw me off that they were asking if I wanted greens with my poutine). The menu has a wide range of breakfast/brunch items, so I think this was a great spot. read more

As soon as we landed in Calgary...boom, we hit up the wait list here on yelp knowing it would take at least an hour to get a table. We started off at #41 on the list and got there exactly on time to grab our table. Many peeps in front of us ended up walking out cause the wait was super long. One hour before...get on that list! Anyhoo, service was amazing from the start. We were given recommendations and just had some cool, meaningful, small talk with our server. What did we order? The gold digga and the laks. Had to check out a breakfast poutine but we were so torn between the soul in a bowl and the one we actually ordered. Can't say no to pork belly and truffle though! It was delish. I think ordering it half/half is imperative as the spinach soaked up the yummy gravy and made it lighter for sure. This is a must order! The laks was um, good? Not the greatest...definitely on the saltier side cause of the giant capers. I did appreciate how well the scramble was cooked and the quality of the cold smoked salmon. I'd pass on it next time though to try something else. Don't forget to pay for your check up front as you're leaving. On January 26 2023. I went to OEB. To get a tuna sandwich. What a mistake choosing this place. We have a real problem in this North American landscape where first off the expectation is to tip. I think due to this expectation the service is for a lack of a better word terrible. In the USA at least the service when you go into an establishment is good with the expectation that dining out is an experience. Even at McDonald s this is trained. Maybe the tip thing in the USA was mostly derived because the server only got paid $1-3 an hour. But in Canada pretty sure servers are paid at least $15 an hour. Regardless of how much you're paid. When you go into a business and pay for a meal the service should be that of an experience or why bother shopping out instead of spending way less and eating at home. Well this wasn't quite my experience felt very unwelcome as there was barely acknowledgement when I walked up to the sign that say please wait for service. I was greeted and asked to gave something to go. But zero great guest experience but quite matter of fact and couldn't be bothered to be offered a seat or anything now given it was getting closer to the end of the day but if it to hard for a company to offer great service close early or don't open or maybe don't have a business. But on to the next part of this service experience I was offered here at OEB. I had received my Sandwich and went down the street to sit in the park and take advantage of the sunlight. I opened the box and not exactly sure what I was seeing but the presentation was appalling for the sandwich that I had received, the price point of this sandwich and the quality did not add up. In fact the guacamole had smeared on the top of the bun. It was as if an amature chef or possibly some one that did not like their job had made. It wasn't as though you opened the box and were delighted to eat a sandwich that might have been crafted for a quality experience but that of a sloppily unconcerned interest and maybe a sandwich that may have been tampered with or whatever other disgusting thing they could do to this sandwich. My friend recommended this place to me and I'm glad he did! I was told that this place have a long wait so we came here right when they open so we got seated right away. My friend ordered the duck confit poutine, crab BENE, truffle squash BENE and I got myself a lobster & shrimps crepe. The presentation of all the dishes was beautiful. Visited OEB Sept 8, 2020 It was my first time visiting Calgary and I'm seriously so impressed with the food scene. I wish OEB would open a few locations in Ontario. 8 months later and I'm still thinking about those glorious duck fat fried herb potatoes. That's saying a lot for someone who isn't crazy about breakfast. Seriously, I would go back to Calgary just for those potatoes. To die for. 5 stars on all fronts. The service was quick and efficient and the staff were friendly. Shortly after I sat down I got my coffee in a nice big mug along with a full thermos of cream. I ordered the banana "cream pie" French toast. It is made of brioche and a very delicious banana cream along with whipped cream on top (of course) and to top it all off, some delicious toasted almonds that go very well with everything else. In one word, it's: heavenly. I was very hungry so I ate it all but it can definitely be shared between 2 people. It is extremely filling. The atmosphere in the store was quite nice and there is definitely good measure for covid-19. For example, the entrance and the exit are on opposite sides and the staff were always careful and alert in directing people. The service was great and for such a popular place, the waiters/waitresses were very attentive and continuously checked in on us. A little pricey though the food portions were just enough for our hungry stomachs after our morning flight in! I get an eggs benedict everywhere I go so I can highly recommend the Holy Crab Benny. We also got the Blueberry Chicken Bangers in the Threesome because we were interested by the name lol, they ended up being chicken sausages which were pretty tasty. The blueberry reminded us of a little jam within the sausages. I get korean food quite often so the korean bulgogi eggs benny didnt quite meet my expectations but the eater of it did end up devouring it! With the hollandaise and eggs it still ended up smashing. The Potato wedges were also very well seasoned, I loved to dip them in our excess hollandaise sauce!
