Wow... what a great place to have breakfast or lunch!! I had the Shakshuka breakfast and my dh had the grilled sandwich with tomato soup! Both were excellent. I also had a latte and the dh had black coffee. My latte was perfect! He said the coffee could have been strong, but he like the spoon to stand up by itself in his coffee!! Hahaha For dessert we shared a Nutella banana crepe which was fantastic!! The banana was grilled and caramelize perfectly then chocolate and Nutella was drizzle over the whole thing... We did have to wait for a table which I understand is normal... the service was outstanding!! I highly recommend this restaurant!! Although the prices are a little expensive the food was quality!! Sorry no pictures of the food as we were hungry and forget before chowing down!! Also make sure you check out the bathroom. Lots of cool posters on the walls!!

I'm told this is a Calgary classic. Large and spacious interior, lots of greenery, the typical diner experience. We went in for brunch and got the chicken and waffles and avocado toast. I got a London Fog, which was good, but this is not really an artisanal coffee kind of place--it was just an Earl Grey tea bag with some milk and sugar. The servers were friendly and prompt. The chicken was crispy, albeit smaller than I expected--more nugget than tender. The waffle was pretty standard. It came with gravy and syrup. For some reason--and my partner did not share the same sentiment--the gravy tasted weirdly like applesauce to me. The avocado toast comes loaded with micro greens and you get a side. Hash browns were just fine. We got a side of the pave, which I really enjoyed--it's multiple thin slices of potato all stacked on top of each other and cooked until crisp, drizzled with sour cream. Definitely would have that again.

Nice diner! Came for breakfast and the service was great. The coffee they serve is a dark roast and one of the better black coffees I've had. The group ordered various bennies and all looked amazing. I had the Beltliner Benny and it was solid! If I came back I'd probably try another one as they had like 5 different Bennies on the menu.

This is such a nicely designed diner, industrial and airy and it was a very pleasant atmosphere. My husband and I both ordered the chicken and waffles and were very satisfied with the food as well as huge portions. We even snagged a bag of their local coffee to bring back as a gift when we return stateside.

West Coast Toast and Eggs with a side of Hashbrowns

Hands down one of my favourite brunch places in Calgary (and I've been to quite a few)! Expect to wait for a table on the weekend for brunch, unless you come early (close to opening). The ambiance and decor is modern hipster. Water is served in mason jars and there is booth, table, hip top, bar, and outdoor seating. Staff is extremely friendly and service is great. This visit I ordered the West Coast Toast and Eggs with a side of Hashbrowns. My meal was delicious! I highly recommend trying the Hashbrowns!! They are shaped in a triangular form made of sliced potatoes, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. They are BOMB! Do not go without trying them, you won't be disappointed! Previously, I tried the mushroom quiche and mushroom bennie, both of which were delicious. My boyfriend had the Chicken and Waffles. He said the chicken was very flavourful and tender and the waffles were soft and perfectly complemented the chicken along with the gravy and maple syrup. The portion is white large, and he had to package up what he couldn't finish. The Beltliner will continue to be one of my top places to go for brunch when I'm in Calgary. I haven't been disappointed yet!

Great spot for breakfast and brunch! We really enjoyed everything we ordered. The service was very warm and friendly! Definitely would come back again!

Solid brunch for when you need to brunch hard! The Caesar Menu is hard core, you start with vodka but can sub gin if you prefer. Next you add some free garnishes, like pepperoni, pickle, extra spicy, etc. then things get serious. There are two more categories for garnish that costs extra, such as perogies, bacon, avocado, chicken and waffles or a chocolate chip cookie! The chicken and waffles is a whole meal, so you can stop there if you want. A few of us girls had the French Toast 3.0, a few had the Beltliner Benny, and one friend had the Mushroom Benny (a vegetarian option). The hashbrowns are crazy! They are wedges of fried scallop potatoes basically, perfectly crispy on the edges. Phenomenal French Toast with salted peanut butter whip, banana confit and fruit jam, topped with crunchy brown sugar bits! They don't take reservations, but they are willing to seat your party even before everyone arrives which is nice. Plan to walk in the park across the street after your meal though, it's a lot if food!

There wasn't anything super amazing about this place, but nothing bad either! The atmosphere was nice & the food was good. I have to say that the hash browns were the best I've ever had. Seasoned perfectly! The prices are a tad steep but that's what you get if you go for breakfast downtown Calgary.

    The beltliner hash bowl

Came upon this cute place after exploring downtown. Hands down best service and food. Brunch is amazing here, and the proportions are enormous. The vibe is cute, garden cafe meets diner with a modern twist. The beltliner hash bowl was yum, and so was the chicken and waffles. I'd steer clear of the brown butter squad unless your a butter lover, quite heavy in flavour.

    Mushroom Benedict

This restaurant is super cute inside and has very good food. I went for brunch and got the mushroom Benedict and it was absolutely delicious. I would order it again in a heart beat. The only complaint I would have is that the potato served with it does not have a lot of flavour and I think another form of side would be better. But with that considered, I would still highly recommend this place for brunch and will definitely be going back!

Items Selected: Space Jam & Ricotta 2.0 French Toast - Blueberry Jam, Lemon Ricotta, Powdered Sugar, St. Leon Maple Syrup Perogy Poutine - Potato Cheddar Perogy, Gravy, Hutterite Bacon, Quebec Cheese Curds, Green Onions Saskatoon Berry Pie - Whipped Cream and Vanilla Bean Gelato from Fiasco Gelato Essentially a hotel restaurant, its attachment to Fairfield Inn & Suites next to Central Memorial Park infusing the space with an everything-to-everyone feel from the kitchen forward, The Beltliner fails where many of Calgary's 'reimagined diners' succeed by way of taking itself too seriously, the focus on a theme getting in the way of good, honest cooking as the menu attempts to veer interesting before getting the basics straight. Visited just after noon, the combination breakfast and lunch menu offering everything from Eggs to Salads or Meatloaf, it was having already perused the online options that a patient wait preceded service, the middle-aged woman not near as pleasant as the folks at Diner Deluxe, OEB or Belmont as she perfunctorily jotted down an order before moving on to the next table where she repearted the same routine without even looking up. Trying hard to be hip, the menu running a gamut of gastropub ideas with some more typical options for those desiring something simple, it was with both appetizer and entrée delivered simultaneously that the meal got underway as The Black Keys played overhead, the "Perogy Poutine" a new spelling with a good concept set back by too much Gravy despite great Dumplings and gooey Curds melted to Cast Iron while the "Space Jam & Ricotta 2.0 French Toast" was not soaked enough for its thickness and still dougy even after adding St. Leon Maple Syrup. Annoyed that the Monte Cristo originally entertained was not only un-fried but served with a Mustard Sauce, dessert consisted of tender Saskatoon Berries baked in an all-Butter Crust, the decision to add a scoop of locally-made Vanilla Bean Gelato enough to dissuade a planned visit to their flagship as the texture was icy and granular on the tongue.

The first time I went, there was a trainee barista which was very kind and patient but unfortunately they don't do pour overs anymore - when I pressed them about it, the reason was Covid. I'm not sure what covid has to do with anything since it's a pretty easy thing to keep on the side with low operating cost (I have one at home - total cost about $80) I ended up getting the drip coffee which was quite delicious- they were serving an Ethiopian origin coffee which was bright, fruity, floral but quite acidic. The next day I went back and met another barista who was clearly not interested in being there and was making conversation with another customer about how he hated Calgary and wished he never moved here (apparently from vancouver). While I can understand his sentiment being from Calgary myself and then moving away, it's not really a great way to start the day. The negativity was filling the air. He seemed like a knowledgeable enough guy but I don't think I'll go back if he's there. I ended up getting a bag of the Ethiopian coffee and I'll just make it myself when I get home If you're looking for a place to get a great cup of coffee and go, then definitely check this place out but don't expect to leave feeling energized by the environment. 4/5 bc the coffee and donuts are delicious

Learned about the TooGoodToGo app special they ran today- 12 gourmet bakery items for $13 which my friend and I just happened to be there at the right time to partake!
