Boston cream French toast
Tracy R.

I really enjoyed this little restaurant coffee shop on my visit to Calgary. We were seated right away for a late lunch on Saturday. - Korean Fried Chicken and Waffles (5/5) - I really enjoyed this one. It tasted spicy, but without the spice. The flavoring was great for someone who doesn't like spicy food but appreciates a spicy flavor. The chicken was moist and the whole dish was delicious - Boston cream French toast (5/5) - also delicious, this place made French toast the way I love it - with thick, fluffy brioche bread and NOT overly fried. The Boston cream and Nutella that was around the toast made it complete - you could taste all the flavors without it tasting too sweet. - Matcha latte (3/5) with vanilla, and pumpkin spice latte (4/5) Service was quick and friendly!

Brunch time! The shop is quite small, so I highly recommend making a reservation. They open up reservations on their website one week in advance. They have many options on the menu, and they all sound really good. Our top favorites: Korean fried chicken benedict, smoothies/hojicha latte, and their signature espresso pancake. The pancake was soft and fluffy, and ice cream with an espresso drink is always a perfect combo!

First off, the presentation at this cafe does not disappoint. Everything we ordered wowed us with how visually pleasing it appeared. You also get a nice view of the Calgary Tower if you get the corner seats. Food ordered: matcha pancakes, Korean fried chicken benny, finding Nemo (smoked salmon) on sourdough toast Drinks: silky iced coffee Our server was friendly and our food came out in good time. The silky iced coffee was adorably dusted with a panda on my husband's drink. I'm a bit heartbroken I got a wavy line? Lol, all jokes aside, our taste buds were awakened. My husband said the Korean fried chicken was nice and crispy. My finding Nemo smoked salmon was flavorful. All was packed with a ton of flavor, but if you're someone like me who's used to healthier, blander foods, this can be a lot. My husband and I like to try different flavors and cuisines when we're traveling so this place was pretty memorable. The silky iced coffee is creamy, so if that's something you enjoy for a whole cup of coffee, this is for you. For us, we both thought it was delicious for the first few (large) gulps, but we quickly got a bit overwhelmed. Nonetheless, I would highly recommend this place! Street parking in any downtown area can be a bit difficult but we got lucky and found a spot across the street.

Great brunch spot here in downtown Calgary! Service was very nice and cute. Food was great! Loved the fact that they served fusion dishes for brunch, and did it well. Went with a group of 6- we had made a reservation and got our dishes all in a timely manner. We all ordered various things and everyone enjoyed their meals. It's a cute cafe space that serves brunch, drinks and pastries. Would definitely recommend if you're in Calgary and looking for a good brunch!

Ahi tuna avocado toast

My partner and I enjoy coming here p often. Please note they are def busy esp on weekends so make a reservation or be prepared to sit outside. I usually get sweet but went with their new ahi tuna avocado toast. I also got their iced matcha. Honestly this is my 4th time here maybe and it was my least favorite. Their was a aioli on the dish with a flavor I didn't like - I think it was a wasbi/horseradish flavor. The maple soy sauce was really good so I wish there was a lot more of that. The matcha was great compared to most places I've tried ordering from but still not fully up to my standards. I like it sweetened with honey and they seemed to have made the matcha, drizzled honey on top of the milk and topped it with the matcha. This of course means the sweetness wasn't consistent and the honey didn't dissolve. I will say I love the workers, they are so kind and amazing each time. Will still come again but get my sweet items.

Missing Link with a side of potatoes

What a great find thanks to Yelp! We needed a breakfast stop before our drive to Banff. We were looking for a place that specifically had a green smoothie and coffee. They get crowded and I can definitely see why! The ambiance is super cute cafe vibes; service is really good. Hello Green Smoothie : I was impressed that this smoothie wasn't overly sweet which is what prevents me from getting them normally. Super tasty and refreshing The Missing Link with a side of breakfast potatoes : everything about this was so good. Well seasoned chicken sausage patty, a great brioche, and a perfectly cooked egg. I really like the addition of Kale - it's much sturdier than lettuce and makes the sandwich just feel healthier. Potatoes were spot on, I could just eat those and be a happy girl Chai latte with soy, less sweetness : ooooh the spices on this are so strong which I love Just enough food for 2 people. My appetite hasn't been great lately but I would have loved to have been able to order two dishes instead.

The cutest cafe with the most amazing breakfast!! I was so happy I could walk here from my hotel while visiting Calgary. I visited the cafe twice and think about it often now that I'm back in the states. It's a small place and each morning they asked if we had reservations. We did not but luckily we snagged spots at the end of a large group table. My almond milk latte was the most amazing cut of goodness each morning and I loved that it was served in a giant mug with the foam in the shape of a heart. These little touches show they go the extra mile to make customers happy. The food was just as delicious. Everything tastes so fresh. It was hard to decide because I wanted one of everything. The servings were perfect, not too heavy before lots of walking around downtown! Hands down, one of my favorite breakfast spots ever. I would love to come back when I'm in town again.

I am OBSESSED with the food here. I came for breakfast solo and sat along the window. I got the bird nest and it was phenomenal. Quick service, tasty food. Amazing. Cute place!

My sister made reservations here for our group of friends and it was so cute that they even put reserved signs on the table. There's a cute outdoor seating area, plenty of parking on the streets. Our server was super helpful and accommodating for our large group. In terms of food and beverages, I ordered their beet latte and shared a couple dishes with my friends - fried chicken and waffles, dan dan noodles, and bao burger. It was all super delicious! The beet latte was super fresh and the design on top was gorgeous. Service was amazing. The waitress divided all of our meals into separate receipts which takes some time to do! Cute vibes all around and delicious food.

It is one of my families favorite places to eat in Calgary. you can make a lunch reservation, which is wonderful with kiddos. They have highchairs that attach to the tables, and the kids' menu offers lots of chocies. I typlically get an iced chai tea latte and the french toast. Food is always fast, hot, and yummy. Staff is always wonderful. The only con is the parking, but it's downtown calgary, so that's to be expected

Korean fried chicken brekkie--skinny Bill ate it all
Jerri S.

This old lady from Carmel, IN is in Calgary! Had it not been for YELP, Bill & I would not have known about this salivating Korean restaurant. Bill had Korean Fried Chicken brekkie. Skinny Bill ate it ALL and that is unusual for him! I had monster Bao-burg.......please see photos. Phenomenal! Sausage is house made and perfect. Sweet potatoe donuts served on the side could fill my belly alone. IF there is any comparable restaurant in IN, PLEASE let us know

Korean Fried Chicken and Waffles

I was staying in Calgary for a few days, saw this place was in walking distance from my hotel & decided to try it. We had to wait a few minutes for a table (it's fairly cozy inside), worth the wait though. We tried the Nutella Latte & the Canadian Latte- both were fabulous. We got the Korean Fried Chicken and Waffles and the Matcha Pancakes- portion size was great & we ate every bite. Service was quick and friendly, we were advised the Matcha pancakes would take a little longer to prepare than the other dish, but that was fine & we weren't in a hurry. We might try to eat here again tomorrow.

Calgary knows their brunch...This is a beautiful hipster Korean fusion brunch café with a plethora of menu items that cater to all tastebuds and preferences! Service was prompt and the waiters were all extremely kind and helpful. We arrived at around 11AM on a Tuesday and it seemed we had just beat the lunch time rush as when we were leaving, it was extremely busy. The food was fantastic - the matcha pancakes were a ginormous stack of green tea goodness with a gorgeous array of sweet syrup and fresh fruits, the chicken and waffles were a fantastic Korean take on a classic brunch dish (it was a bit heavy on the salt for me but my brother enjoyed it a lot), the monster bao that my cousin had was stacked high with cheese, patties and a side of delicious sweet potato tots and the ham benny was well rounded with well seasoned potato wedges on the side. Finally, the true highlight of my meal was the Z crew silky coffee with sea salt cream cheese silky milk foam. It was amazing, sooo creamy with a hint of salty cheese. The coffee taste was also very earthy and full. Last thing was the birds nest which is a popular dish with a scotch egg on it was already sold out and we were unable to try...definitely have to arrive early next time to catch this coveted dish! Brunch in Vancouver will never be the same after having tried Z Crew in Calgary.

But our hunger got the best of us, so we ended up stopping in town for lunch across the street from Element Cafe. Our next mission was to get caffeine and a little something sweet to finish off lunch. Element Cafe achieved both of these goals. I ordered an Americano and it did the trick. But I really enjoyed the Birthday Cake cookie. The cookies caught my eye because they looked a lot like the mountains we were about to see in Banff: they had many ridges and depth to them. The guy working in here even offered to heat them up for us before I could ask, so he really understood the keys to our heart. My only piece of feedback would be: when you heat the cookies up, don't be shy! Push that dough to the limit and let your cookies be enjoyed the way God intended: like they just came out of the oven. With that being said, the guy was the picture of a nice Canadian. Don't let his slightly under heating on this day shape how you view him as a fellow human. He was great, as were his cookies and his coffees.

This time around I tried something they offer by reservation called afternoon tea for $40. We each got to pick a tea for our tea pot and had about 8 options. The tea itself wasn't anything special. We tried the chai and the alforno blend which both didn't taste very strong. The afternoon tea deal also came with a snack tower, the bottom consisting of savory sandwich bites, and the top two levels with pastries and sweets. The things that stood out to me were the lemon meringue, fruit tart, and the carrot cake (the cream cheese frosting was really tasty). Overall, this was a super cute and fun thing to try. I'd definitely recommend it if you want to try little bites of various things they carry.

I want to replicate this at home but fear it will take some work. The gremalata was superior. The cronut was so light and almost melted in your mouth. The raspberry filled coconut cookie was chewy and light. The breakfast with sausage eggs and potatoes and toast was enough for two. We couldn't begin to eat it all and took some away for later. Love this place. Wish we had one. We received multiple recommendations to try this from locals as well. Lots of seating. Craft coffees. Bakery and savory and food for all hours.
