I pulled up my email and showed them and they said "we'll get you seated asap". It was then they tried to put us at a table near the elevator/host stand. We politely asked for a window seat instead, which we were given. The views are not like in the photos. They have tint on the windows so you can't see the mountains if the sun is shining in. Anyway, we had to wait 15 minutes for our very sweet server to take our order... and then about 40 minutes for a kids cheese pizza, a pepperoni pizza and a salad. My salad was god awful. Overdressed with soggy, mealy watermelon and bruised strawberries. The pizzas weren't much better, too much crust and too much grease. Getting drinks refilled took forever because they were slammed. The salad portion was huge. While I couldn't taste any of the promised orange in the orange balsamic vinaigrette, it was just ok. The grilled steak was quite rubbery, though that's somewhat expected for standard pub steak. The house-made pasta had a strange, almost overcooked texture that completely lacked the classic chewy stretch of a fresh noodle. The Tagliatelle Pomodoro was also incredibly bland, and the tomato sauce tasted like it came straight out of a Ragu jar. The saving grace was the side of chicken we added, which was wonderfully flavorful and juicy. While my mother-in-law raved about her pesto dish, I personally prefer the refrigerated pesto from Trader Joe's over the version served here. Come for the pub atmosphere and the chicken, but you might want to skip the fresh pasta.

Potatoes were good but my favorite was the cantillini beans. They were excellent. We had good service, and they have both indoor, outdoor seating. Parking is an issue in Canmore. The molasses butter was very mild and added the right touch to the bread. The chicken gyro was made in house and all the flavors married very well together. By 7:15 PM, we had to flag someone down to find out who would be serving us. The server that ended up helping us apologized and explained there was confusion among the staff. The manager personally came over, apologized, acknowledged our frustration, and said they would expedite our food. The food itself was good with no complaints. The beef dishes were cooked to our requested temperatures, and the ribs, cheesy noodles, ravioli, tuna steak, and sweet potato salad were all enjoyable. The initial service was frustrating, but we appreciated the manager taking ownership and making a meaningful gesture to make things right. Overall, the food was good and the recovery was acknowledged and appreciated.
