Stopped into the Rundle Bar at the Banff Springs for a drink, and it was exactly what you want from a spot in a place like this. The drink was made nicely--no fuss, no shortcuts, just done right. The seating was comfortable and well laid out, and the ambience is hard to beat. Warm lighting, classy atmosphere, and the kind of views you only get at the Banff Springs. It's the sort of place where you can actually relax, talk, and take in the surroundings without feeling crowded or rushed. Overall, a solid experience. I was so excited for tea here for my birthday, but then they could not seat us by the window, which was disappointing, but we still got pictures there at the end so that was fine. When I asked her why, she said it depended on when we made the reservation. I told her I made it a month ago and she said the other party also made it a month ago but right before me. Sounded like a lie to me. The view is spectacular. That's why you want a window spot, otherwise you can't see anything and it's not even worth it. While the tea is excellent. I thought the food that was part of the tea was just OK. I've had better food at teas in Vegas and also at the Grand Floridian in Orlando. Also, you can get the same tea at the spa for free. So just go to the spa and try all the teas, plus their snacks are free. FYI: The following tees are the ones that are also found at the spa that are on the menu; creamy Earl Grey, decaffeinated English breakfast, imperial breakfast, Kyushu Japan sencha, Flores's Barry garden, Egyptian chamomile, and Oregon Mint. These were found at the spa, but I did not see on the menu, but they might call them something else: revitalize green and white tea, skin and beauty, and Jasmine gold dragon. Menu pic is attached. So the sandwiches, the mushroom and truffle was so gross. They just need to get rid of that one. My mom and I both like mushrooms and truffle and that was not good. We both did not like that one. The deviled ham was good, the egg salad sandwich was a little bland, chicken was OK and the salmon was good. Out of the desserts they had on the tray, I pretty much liked them all except the chocolate ones, but that's only because I'm not a chocolate fan. My mom liked that one and she likes chocolate.. they had Pavlova, green apple moose, forest berries, Saint-honore, which was a white chocolate ganache and a pastry cream, and macaroons. They start you off with Prosecco, which was nice and delicious. Definitely try the creamy earl grey tea. That is the best. I later switched to Flora's Berry garden, which was good as well, but I did like the creamy earl Grey better, which is strange because I never like Earl Grey tea. So that's how good that one was! After golf, we headed to Rundle Bar for a cocktail and snack. Parking is a pain, but figure it out because it's a cool place to hang after a hike, hike, or round of golf. We used the paid ramp. We asked to sit outside and got a table near the edge of the patio. The views are stunning. I had a glass of wine and we split the chips and guacamole. It was so good. Henry was our server and he was excellent. He got our requests quickly but also took time to chat and offer suggestions for the remaining days of our visit. Great stop. read more

We stopped in before our dinner reservation at The Grape to have a drink and a few little appetizers. We got carried away. I got carried away. I actually don't drink alcohol so mine was a boring Diet Coke. As for the food, we got 4 for the 3 of us, Warm Olives, Rundle Mini Wings, Little Gems Salad, and Chili Pork Dumplings. My favorite were the wings with their sweetness from the black truffle honey. The salad was also very good, nice plating, lots of stuff. The dumplings themselves lack flavor but a chili sauce made up for it. The numerous large olives looked impressive but were bland, no strong olive taste, no saltiness. Rundle was very nice, spread out, comfortable seats, a great view out of our window. As a tourist I suppose looking in any direction is a 'great view', this is such a beautiful part of the world. Our server worked closely with us throughout our visit, a nice person who provided information and recommendations, and shared experiences. Arrived after a long day on tour bus. We are staying at the Fairmont, so not interested in going to far. Not hungry enough for a full dinner, so we settled on the Rumble Bar. It's a beautiful space, and the views out the windows are breathtaking. The space is well appointed, but not especially for our party of six. The modern looking tables and chairs didn't lend themselves to being pushed together. We made it work. The drinks and food are overpriced, but you're at a Fairmont. We ordered a couple drinks and sandwiches. I got the Ember Cocktail, and my spouse ordered a Amber Ale. Good choices. We tried a Lobster Roll and Pork Belly Bowl. While we were waiting they brought us some nuts and popcorn. Which was delicious and took the edge off the hunger. Lucky for us, because it took a bit to server our food. The Lobster Roll was okay, but not up to Fairmont standards. It was more of a Maine style, more like lobster salad. And there was more roll than lobster. The Pork Belly very good, warm flavorful, and a good portion. There are plenty of other great places to dine. We won't be coming back to this one. read more

We got so lucky with gorgeous weather during our week in Lake Louise and Banff, but the last night the rain really came down. Taking the bus to town in the storm didn't seem appealing so we canceled our reservation at the Bison and opted to eat here at Rundle Bar instead. We sat by the window and once the rain stopped we enjoyed a gorgeous view, as well as a rainbow! We had 2 very attentive waitresses who were very chatty and also gave some popular suggestions from the menu. We enjoyed some martinis and then ordered a few things from the menu to share: - chili pork dumplings - burrata - charred avocado - burrata All was great and we agreed an easy and delicious last meal on this rainy evening. read more

Located inside the Fairmont Banff. There's guest parking after the round about in the back. It's $15 per hour and on the left is the outdoors parking and the right side is covered parking. To get to the Rundle Bar you have to walk through the entrance and take the elevator up 1 floor. It's on your right when you exit the elevator. We were lucky enough to be able to score a table on the patio. This is the move if you come here. Great views of the valley and the mountains. It was a bit hot when we were there, but the staff was nice enough to move us to a more shaded area. The drinks here are just ok, but the food was pretty good. Especially the calamari. But expect the pricing to be higher than normal because it's the Fairmont and you are paying for the view. You don't get a lot with the calamari, so you will need to pair that with another item as that will not fill you up. read more

Visited Rundle Bar at the Fairmont Banff for high tea overlooking Banff's beautiful scenery. The view of Banff did not disappoint! We were grateful to be seated windowside and had a gorgeous view of the mountains and river. Unfortunately, our dining experience did not meet our expectations, and we were left feeling disappointed. The food was overall lackluster - nothing amazing considering the reputation of Fairmont high tea and the premium price. We did enjoy the roasted mushroom finger sandwich a lot though! In addition, there was a lot of room for improvement in terms of service. Even though it wasn't a busy time, we felt that service could have been more attentive. We did not receive an explanations of the different teas and how long to steep them for, and we were not checked in on much. However, we noticed other tables getting a more personalized service. My companion had a dietary restriction that we felt the server didn't clarify properly, so they were left with a substitution that while they could eat, they were quite disappointed with. I would probably skip the afternoon tea here and just enjoy the bar and Banff views instead. read more

This spot was super cool. We were lucky to catch it after a tour of the castle, otherwise I would have been clueless how to get here. The space is HUGE and wide open, gorgeous decor, very welcoming and comfortable. The outdoor space is amazing with fantastic views. I came here for afternoon tea. It was absolutely delicious! There was so much food I couldn't possibly eat it all and ended up taking a box of sandwiches and cakes home. The $90 per person charge covers a pot of tea, a glass of sparkling wine, a scone, five sandwiches, and five tiny desserts for each person. Afternoon tea was a lovely close to our time in Banff. I strongly recommend making reservations on Open Table for afternoon tea as it tends to book fast. We did this prior to leaving the states. Our new friend we made was able to make her own reservation the day before for afternoon tea to join us at the Rundle Bar. Make sure to request a table near the window for the glorious views of Mt. Rundle as the backdrop. Staff are extremely vigilant with accommodating food allergies/dietary restrictions and they confirm the guests at the table with the dietary restrictions as well as the specific restrictions. Amy was our knowledgable server on various teas and she was very patient and did an excellent job of explaining the options throughout the afternoon tea. Prior to making recommendations, she inquired of our preferences to narrow the selection. She took the time listing each of our savory and sweet treats, some which varied from each other as two of us have specific food allergies. The tea timer was explained according to how strong you would like to steep your tea. All three of us picked different teas so we could sample more than one. The masala chai, the creamy earl grey and the fresh market, and as a bonus we had the ice wine. My favorite was the market fresh, which had strong notes of berries and the vibrant red/maroon color was appealing. The white tea I chose had a smooth, round mouth feel and was perfect with our meal. Husband also enjoyed his cream Earl Grey. Each little delicacy was more surprising and delicious than the last. We particularly enjoyed the salmon and ham finger sandwiches. We evenly divided over the sweets, so I cannot tell you which we loved the most! Extremely small plates. Pricey. Open late. Good drink selection. Came to eat a quick snack after leaving the pool at 10pm. This was our only options at this time, but they served us quick and fast. Place was reserved for hotel guests only since you couldn't get there without a hotel key. It was very busy and lively on a Saturday night and even had a live pianist. The place is romantic dark and beautiful. Very chic to sit and have a fancy cocktail here. We were recomended the dumplings. And they were very good. The crepe was a miss and basically was a three bite deep fried meal. Overall. You are paying for atmosphere and not for good food. It's the first time fairmont left me a lackluster impression since all their restaurants are fabulous. I personally wouldn't come back since these two dishes were hardly worth the $50 we paid for. Such a beautiful location but then again what isn't in banff. I thought what's the big deal about a hotel... well I stand corrected. It was mind blowing. It's in a castle in a place where celebrities and people from all over the world come to gawk at the pristine scenery. So, it makes sense this is going to cost some more clams. Is it worth it? I think so. The best chicken salad sandwich I've ever had (pickled red onions ftw), unique cocktails and sweeping views of the mountains in historic and commanding rooms. Fun! During a recent stay at the Fairmont Banff Springs, we visited the Rundle Bar. Sitting outside at one of the communal firepits, we received really great service. The drinks are all gorgeous and taste amazing. I ordered a gin drink with butterfly pea (so it was purple) and tonic to pour over. We also ordered a poke bowl, which was good. The vibe of Rundle Bar is unmatched. Indoors is very cozy, low lit with bookshelves all around. One night there was a DJ and another, there was a piano player. Outside on the terrace, there are fire pits and the most perfect mountain views. Hoping to enjoy Rundle Bar for a cocktail class and more great drinks in the future. read more

I've been to Rundle Lounge/Bar twice - once for Afternoon Tea in October of 2019 and once more recently (June 2022) for a drink and bite to eat. The renovations that took place in between my two visits are fantastic - Rundle Bar is gorgeous... There is even a 'secret' room now - just find the right bookcase! My most recent visit included happy hour - a Mai Tai - and the candied salmon dish. I enjoyed the Mai Tai created by Richard N. although the candied salmon left a bit to be desired. The afternoon tea experience I had in October of 2019 was delightful. I absolutely love high tea and the sandwiches, scones, and desserts were worth every penny. I believe they have a new menu now that I was unfortunately unable to try (I opted for the tea experience at Jasper Park Lodge, instead). Even so, I hope to revisit Banff Springs and will surely not miss out on afternoon tea again... I have nothing but great memories. Bravo! read more

Stopped in for an aperitif and some good cheer with a group of friends. The setting is reminiscent of old world charm, complete with a back lounge that's darker and conducive to brooding. My friends and I made a reservation for afternoon tea at Rundle Bar back when we went to Banff in early June. The parking situation was a little bit confusing because the lot was about 10 minutes from the hotel and then Rundle Bar was a bit far from the hotel entrance, so we were a couple minutes late for reservation time. We got seated with a nice view of the mountains in the corner of the restaurant/bar. The afternoon tea seating area was on the second floor (the first floor was the bar and mostly casual seating). The menu was already set for afternoon tea, so all we had to pick was our teas. There was a large variety of fruit, black, green, etc. I picked a green tea and my friends picked some herbal fruit teas. First, we got some scones with jam and clotted cream along with our teas. Then, they came out with our afternoon tea set on towers. Each tower had 12 items per person - 7 savory and 5 sweet. The tower was nice and the presentation was great, but nothing was super memorable to me. Everything was just small bites of sandwiches or bread and then a bunch of mini desserts. It was 82 CAD so not too bad since it would definitely be more in the US for the same thing. Overall, the experience at Rundle Bar was quiet nice. Getting to sit inside and enjoy the views and ambience with some tea and snacks was relaxing. I would recommend to try it just to see the Fairmont in Banff and take a nice break during the day after some hiking. read more

Tea choices I've uploaded a shot. But my only complaint is that they really need to clean their utensils etc better in all these restaurants at the Fairmont. At the Vermillion there was food in between the fork. And at afternoon tea here the water glass had water spots all over it. I always think of afternoon tea as kind of a special posh event for us ordinary folk. And at $100 it really should be. But seeing those spots as soon as I sat down was just disappointing. read more

This review is for the 360 Dome experience which service is provided between either restaurant. Our waiter was at Rundle. Overall the staff experience was great--our waiter was kind and the staff has gotten the entrance and delivery to a T. I think I would've preferred to sit inside. The view was excellent, but the food lacked sustenance given the high price tag and how long we waited. We had 10 in our party, and the dinner was ~4 hours long, for 7 courses. It was challenging to wait 30-45mins after being done with a course, for the next one. I might consider doing the dome again for a short brunch, or just drinks and with a much smaller party. read more

Just... wow! You expect this place to be extravagant and is still exceeds your expectations. We came for cocktails and a few hors d'oeuvres and had a great dining experience with a view. We got the waiters recommended drink, with a gin crafted exclusively for the for the bar by a local distillery. The drinks and appetizers were delicious and portions were perfect for a seating of three to four (only two this time as we may or may not have just finished a 10 mile hike)! We got the potato chips and the Albacore Tuna. I could've had the potato chips alone they were so good. The chips were homemade and addicting to say the least. The caramelized onion dip that comes along side the chips...I wish I could bottle it and take it home. The albacore tuna was light and refreshing with such unique flavors. It's a one of a kind dish. What am I talking about you ask ... well far too often the drinks at bars in Vancouver are just plain atrocious! It was as if bartenders were auditioning for amateur hour to bartend at a house party! The drinks just plain sucked! Watered down, too much ice ... who were they tryna fool!?! So I stopped wasting my money = hello liquor store! Alberta has a good thing going ... cocktails start at over 1.7oz alcohol with some drinks passing the 3oz mark!!! Drinks ain't cheap, but the sure taste darn good! Try the Peach Winery or Luna. Bartender hit me up another! Funny story ... while here one night, the Popo showed up & busted a scammer that's well known. This clown who dresses well & appears clean, apparently likes charging drinks up to rooms & then takes off! He got thrown out! So rest your beating hearts & wallets - security is top notch here! Side sorry ... back in the 90s I was in Cancun & some mutha tucker charged poolside drinks to my room. Upon my checking out I got sticker shock & was like - shut the front door! I actually never go poolside when I'm on vacay at the ocean! Pure 100% salt water it is for me all the time! After sternly using French words to clear my good name, the hotel waived the charges! Back to the Rundle ... I was fortunate enough to get into the VIP Gold members private 'secret' lounge, hidden behind the massive bookshelf & the bar. See pix!
