While visiting Canmore a group of us stopped into BLAKE Brewhouse and Distillery for dinner. BLAKE is in a newer building and has a large elbow-shaped patio for outdoor dining. Our group was located in an annex room right of the main entrance and was the perfect size to fit all of us. We had 2 primary servers who did an excellent job of making sure we had full glasses and full plates. We did family-style sharing of some of their starters and main dishes. The Bread and Butter was really delicious and it looks like their butter flavor is on rotation daily. The duck wings had a peach glaze and nuoc cham and cilantro- great combination. The chicken vegetable dumplings had great skin and texture. The peppercorn salad was adorned with pickled cabbage, capers, maple coconut, crunchy chickpeas and more - it was amazing. We also tried the Thai basil risotto and it was good but I'd go with the peppercorn salad over this if you're sticking vegetarian. The final dish was Alberta AAA Beef Brisket accompanied by gochujang mashed potatoes and broccolini. The brisket was incredible and just melted on the tongue. And the beer/spirits here were impressive as well. BLAKE is a must-try destination while in Canmore! read more

I was lucky that the Blake was very close to my hotel, and the cocktails were so good that I visited multiple times. I didn't try the food but looking at a few tables around me, it looked delicious. Amazing service and food! We checked out Blake Brewhouse & Distillery on a Saturday night. The restaurant was busy and were seated minutes after arriving. I like that they serve ciders from Core Values Cider Co. We decided to try the Sautéed Shrimp, Satay Fries, and Braised Lamb Dip Bao. Every dish was innovative, beautifully presented, and the flavours worked so well together. We ended our meal with Powder Day ice cream, which was full of fresh coconut and was so creamy. Mixed ratings about Blake. We're locals and went to Blake for our daughter's 20th birthday. We were met by the rudest hostess we've ever experienced. No hello, no smile. The 5 of us adults were standing in the foyer when she asked if we wanted kids' menus. She made us want to walk out, but it was pouring rain, so we stayed, and we're glad we did. Our server was great, and our food and drinks were really tasty, well-plated and unique. The atmosphere definitely gave more relaxed pub vibes than it used to, which we enjoyed, but we didn't love the lads taking a leak in the parking lot in full view of our table. read more

The lettuce wraps with tofu were good. The marinade on the tofu was flavorful although a bit salty. The lettuce wraps came with pickles, kimchi, pickled onions, pickled carrots and daikon, and rice. The combination of items in a lettuce wrap worked well together! The Dahl burger was good. The sauce on the burger was a medium spice and perfect for a lentil/kidney bean burger patty. The vegan ceasar salad was very flavorful too. Our group ordered a few burgers and everyone enjoyed them. This is a great restaurant option for Canmore. read more

So good we had to go back:) My husband and I visited twice while staying near the area and were impressed with the food and general vibe of the place. We did not have to wait to be seated at around 225pm(1st visit) and 430pm (2nd visit) started with Sangria and a beer for the hubby. We also order the bread with flavor infused butter and the burnt ends, my husband's favorite and a must have if on the menu. These were Asian inspired and fantastic. Bao and Brisket were our entrees- both delicious. The brisket was very tender and portion sizes were large. Even though we were stuffed we wanted to try the ice cream- Strawberry Rhubarb was amazing! When we returned for a second visit we did get the burnt ends again as well as the Burger with Charcoal Bun and Butter Chicken sandwich. Both prepared well and tasted great. Fries were salty and crisp. Staff were friendly and attentive. Their parking lot is all dirt, so it could get dusty when windy or muddy when it rains. There were no parking spots available, but I was able to park on the street. They have patio and indoor seating available. When the weather is good, they will open the garage door so you can enjoy the outside air. But it was a little warm and windy when we were there so they had it shut. I noticed that there were a few Asian inspired items, which I ended up ordering their pork chop. It was a little on the smaller side, but it was good. The cocktails here were just ok, but I would stick with their beers. Overall, it's a good stop over if you are either in the area or need a break before heading back to Calgary. read more

Very Tasty! This is not your typical bar / brewery food. These folks are creative with their dishes. The husband had the braised lamb sandwich and it was like a Bahn Mi sandwich made with lamb but only better. Incredibly tender and flavorful ....this sandwich melted in your mouth. I got a small bite... If we have time to go back... I'm ordering this for myself. I was "trying to be good"... so I ordered the Tofu Sweet Potato Bao Buns with a salad. You don't even miss the meat. These bao buns are bursting with goodness, flavor, a touch of heat and veg! So many good things going on here. And the buns?! OMG! Light and airy... not dense thick buns. The salad... is no pedestrian, ordinary salad. For being a vegan caesar salad, there was no shortage of flavor nor ingredients. Perfectly dressed in their peppercorn dressing... it had lettuce, pickled cabbage, capers, smoked coconut bits and crispy chickpeas. I don't think I'll ever be able to order a normal caesar salad again without thinking back fondly on this salad. Keep in mind, I'm not vegan.... so this was a total surprise to me and I LOVED IT! I had a cider and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was light, crisp, dry, tart and a little fruity. Just perfect for a light afternoon adult beverage. Husband had a beer and very much liked it. We sat outside with our dogs (allowed only on the front patio) and under the beautiful mountains that surround Canmore. Portions were generous and the service was surprisingly speedy. Asian fusion restaurant with a brewery. Someone next to us came in and immediately left as they were unwilling to try Asian food, even though it's a really creative take on what I know it as American food with the fusion twist. Loved the uniqueness and they were absolutely delicious. Being that this was a distillery, I had to get their BLAKE Beer Flight ($16) to try out multiple selections. Unfortunately they were out of a lot of the selections and got stuck with mostly light beers, not my favorite. For appetizers, we ordered the Duck Wings ($18) which had a maple kimchi glaze to the wings. Was an enjoyable starter. The Coconut Fried Rice ($16) with Prawns (+$7) essentially was like any ordinary fried rice dish. Didn't really get that coconut rice taste you'd expect in a Thai dish. Still good regardless. The fiancé ordered the Braised Lamb Dip ($28) and substituted the sea salt fries with Red Pepper Coconut Soup (+$5). This is essentially similar to a French Dip Sandwich, but with a Vietnamese twist using braised lamb shoulder. It was a messy dish, but tasty. The Red Pepper Coconut Soup is a good substitute if you need to not consume soo many fries. I personally ordered the Mechanic Burger ($28) and substituted for Masala Fries (+$5). The black charcoal bun got my attention when I first saw it and I've been consuming Alberta beef this entire trip and have not got sick of it yet. That "secret sauce" they use combined with everything else makes this their signature and it's a hit alright. The Masala Fries I've probably could have passed on. Don't think it's worth the extra $5. read more

Love this Brewhouse! Brie was our server, she was amazing! We started with the house made bread.... SO GOOD! We followed up with the burger and fries. I had no idea duck wings could be made this way, or made this yummy. The staff here is friendly and fun too -- could not recommend enough. Here's what we ordered: - duck wings: the star of the show. I did not expect much, but the dish looked unique and *everyone was ordering it. In fact, this dish was so popular, the manager (?) -- a man with black shorts and a white dress shirt -- came to apologize the wings were taking so long. This was worth waiting for! Tasty, crispy, and meaty. Superpassed expectations. - Pork baos: the buns were fresh, warms and just enough chewy. The pork was well seasoned and not too dry either, came with just enough fat. The baos are small but tasty. Definitely belongs in the starter category, and I recommend it as a side! - Chicken vermicelli bowl: This was very delicious. You get three slabs of chicken, probably a good 1.5 lbs. very filling and just the right amount of sour. Lots of veggies, plenty of meat, a good portion size overall! I would recommend this dish and will come back for it. Shout out to the two men in white dress shirts, one manning the booth up front, and the other helping out the waitstaff. Huge thanks to Darren, our server, and thanks to the only guy with a man bun (both of whom recommended the duck wings to us)! Service was impeccable and everyone was so friendly. I saw two female waitstaff behind the bar working separately -- something random fell. Then, they looked at each other and made a goofy face, laughed, and cleaned it up. Second time here and we visited from across the street at Basecamp lodge hotel. We love how convenient and walkable this spot is. We arrived on a Wednesday evening and got seated immediately. The worker at the front was nice upon seating us, however our server was not so nice. She gave us unwelcoming vibes, was pretty short with us, and kind of ruined our experience. We ignored that and tried our best to enjoy the night. I got the same lemongrass vemicelli bowl again which tasted the same as before - good size portions with nice amount of chicken, veggies, and noodles. The sauce is tasty as well. My husband got the burger and fries with black bun, which tasted like any other standard burger. I got the mule and husband got the beer - overall our bill came out to less than $100. We forgot to get dessert, the server didn't offer us the dessert menu (saw another table got offered that) and also we just didn't feel welcome by the server, so we paid and left. I don't know why I tipped 18%, regret. Might be the last time I come here the next time we stay at Canmore. read more

Brewery and distillery combo putting out some amazing Asian fusion food bites! First off the portions are large! I got the lettuce wraps and it was easily enough for 4/5 large wraps. The beef was super tasty and well cooked and came with all the accompaniments. We also had the chicken and veggie dumplings. You get about 9 per order which is nice! They have a wide selection of in house beer and distilled cocktail drinks. It's a chill vibe with plenty of outdoor seating if the weather is nice out. Had the chance to try this spot out for lunch during my recent visit to Canmore, and so glad we decided to give it a go! The crispy chickpea salad was absolutely delicious and exactly what I needed after a 7+ mile bike ride. Came with mixed greens, very crispy chick peas, chopped tomato, pickled onion, goat cheese (my favorite and paired so nicely with the chick peas), and a maple mustard vinaigrette. Of course, had to get a basket of fries on the side and they were also cooked to perfection and extra crispy just how I like them. Their ice cream is made fresh in-house daily, and they offer both cream and plant based options. I actually ended up opting for one of the plant based flavors, Bowl O' Sunshine, which is made with fresh lemon/lemon zest and coconut. It was incredible!! Came for dinner around 7:30pm on a Wednesday night and we had to wait maybe 15-20 min for a table. The service was slow with limited staff. The dinner, however, was delicious. We ordered the Tandoor Cauliflower and Korean BBQ veggie burger. I reeaally liked the burger - it has so much texture and flavor. The Masala fries mostly tasted garlicy from the sauce on top. I don't know if I would recommend the ice cream. It was more sorbet like possibly and wasn't creamy. read more

Loved the BLAKE brewhouse, I sat at the bar and ordered a delicious Lamb Udon that was greatly recommended by my server. The place was a great mountain brewery with great vibes.
