Exception restaurant in Canmore!! Was tricked by friends when brought here initially - thought it was marijuana edibles on the menu. Went for a late lunch on a weekend. Gorgeous interior with two dining areas with a view of an open kitchen in between. Huge assortment of food from appetizers to pizza to smaller and larger dishes. Ate family style and tried all the food. The pickled brined chicken was a highlight - so flavourful and could be made into a lettuce wrap. The cabbage was surprisingly good. Service was fantastic. I was really craving some meat and this place delivered. A bit on the pricey side, and reservations are definitely recommended, but the food was worth it. What made this meal: -I ordered the Chipotle Crusted Bavette. Super tender and full of flavor. I'm always a sucker for a good steak, and this one didn't disappoint. Some other things that were average but good: -Spinach pizza was elevated with the pear. I liked it but not crazy about it. -Pickled brined fried chicken was good. Just a nice crispy chicken that you can wrap with lettuce. -Grilled Lamb Sirloin (minus cilantro) was good but the curry was a bit cold. Docking a star for the wait time. It took over 40 minutes for our food to arrive. I understand they try to time the dishes to come out together, but it would've been nice if they asked whether we wanted our small plate served first since we were treating it like an appetizer. And by serving it all at the same time, one person's curry arrived slightly cold, and another dish came out even later (maybe it got missed in the order). We were a party of six, so I get that things can get hectic. I only wish the food had arrived a bit sooner, or that the staff had asked if we preferred dishes to be served as they were ready. Great overall experience. Easy to make a reservation which I would recommend doing. Cute ambiance. We sat inside but the patio looked lovely. Service was optimal. Waited around 10 minutes for a server to come, but the hostess brought us water while waited. Drink orders were dirty martini, fen old fashioned, and earl gray cocktail. All were fabulous. Came here for a family dinner on our last day of the trip in Banff. We sat outside on their patio area, where there is a beautiful view of the Canadian Rockies. Service is great as everyone is very interactive and curious what brings us to the area. We ordered a handful of items to be split amongst the table. For small plates, the Yellowfin "Five Alive" Ceviche ($24) was probably my favorite. Tastes just as good as your typical Tuna Ceviche with a tasty puree. This comes with corn chips which are house made. The Pickle Brined Fried Chicken ($24) is like getting popcorn chicken or karaage. The garlic aioli dipping sauce that comes with it enhances the taste. The Forest Floor Mushroom Skewers ($16) I think is a pretty simple dish. We just needed a veggie dish and this was it. The for big plates, we got the The Grilled Lamb Sirloin ($49), which was heavily recommended by the host that seated us. The presentation is pretty wild as the steak sits on top of potatoes with is on top of a mbassaman curry, which goes really well with the steak if I may add. And then they give you two onion rings, which they stack on top of all of this. The steak is a very thick cut, so it may look puny, but it is dense. Would recommend. We also ordered their Slammin' Salmon Side Dough ($25) (what they called their pizza). It's not everyday you see salmon as a pizza topping and get an entire pie for the table. This place was an absolute gem! I love the food, the drinks, and the service was great. My favorite drink was their Old Fashioned. It had a hint of Maple which made it sweet and smooth. Our starter was the Labneh which I absolutely enjoyed. It was sweet with the honey and was just a perfect plate. Though all of the 4 entrees we ordered were delicious, I think the Thai Chicken comes on top for flavor. My bavette came out cold, but my server didn't hesitate to give me an another plate that was cooked better. The ice box lemon cake was interesting. It was basically hard ice cream. It was good but I'm not a fan. This was our food stop after a long day of touring lakes in Banff and a hike in Grassi lakes. I absolutely love Crazyweed. The food is exceptional, and it has long been my favourite dinner spot in Canmore, Alberta. Whenever we host family or friends, we make sure to include an evening at Crazyweed--because we truly enjoy it that much. I've recommended it to countless people visiting Canmore and have left many glowing reviews over the years. I'm genuinely grateful to have such an elevated restaurant in our town. This week, we actually dined at Crazyweed twice. Our Wednesday experience was exactly what we've come to expect: incredible food and warm, attentive service. I shared a positive review afterward. Unfortunately, our Saturday visit for a party of five was very different. While the food was, as always, outstanding--kudos to the chef and kitchen team--the service was surprisingly disappointing. We arrived ten minutes late for our 5:45 p.m. reservation, which I fully acknowledge. However, our server (a shorter woman with long reddish-brown hair) seemed irritated from the moment we sat down. She immediately reminded us that our table was booked until 7:45 p.m. and pushed us to order drinks, appetizers, and entrées almost instantly. Throughout the meal she repeated, "because you were late," four or five times. There were no pleasantries, no warmth--only frustration. The only time she seemed pleased was when we asked for the bill. What made this even more confusing was that the restaurant wasn't full; there were multiple empty tables throughout our meal. Her fixation on our being ten minutes late felt unnecessarily harsh. Despite this, we enjoyed our meal and were completely finished well before 7:45 p.m. Our receipt showed 7:27 p.m. Yet another staff member (with long straight dark brown hair) came to our table to tell us we had only eight minutes left "because we were late" and that another reservation needed the table. No one was waiting, and that party had not yet arrived, but we were still ushered out in a way that felt abrupt and unprofessional. When I asked to speak with the manager or owner, the same woman returned only to argue with me about how many times the lateness had been mentioned. There was no apology, no attempt to listen, and no effort to de-escalate the situation. She refused to give her name and was confrontational rather than constructive. These two staff members should not be in customer-facing roles--especially not at a restaurant of Crazyweed's caliber. Their behaviour was disrespectful and completely out of step with the exceptional service we've consistently experienced from the rest of the team. I am deeply disappointed. I have always gone out of my way to support and recommend Crazyweed, which makes this experience all the more upsetting. The food remains extraordinary, but the service we received on Saturday was far below the standard Crazyweed is known for. read more

A hidden treasure in Canmore! My friends and I stopped by here for a dinner after an 11-mile hike looking like absolute tired bums. Regardless, we were greeted and seated so quickly and with such a sweet wait staff! Note that this place is really nice and we were definitely out of place in our hiking clothes. Parking was also really easy as they have plenty of spaces. The food was insane.The dishes were so creative and so tasty. The labneh was my favorite appetizer. We also tried the Thai chicken, salmon, short rib, and lamb bolognese. Take any random pick and I guarantee it's going to be amazing! The only thing I wouldn't order again was the icebox lemon cake with berry compote. It was DELICIOUS but definitely an ice box - I thought I was going to break the plate with how hard I was thwacking on the dessert. Special shoutout to that fenugreek old-fashioned drink. The food here was so good that my family and I returned our next night because we couldn't try everything we wanted on the menu. Reservations are a must if you want to eat at a reasonable time. The flavor are so amazing in all the vegetarian things we tried, but my absolute favorite was the blue cheese broccoli. The blue cheese is not overbearing, there's a little bit of spicy, and the broccoli is cooked perfectly. The labneh is also amazing and a must try. Also leave room for dessert, chocolate budino is a must! Baked Alaska was also good. Sadly no donuts available when we went. Kids menu is available as well. The only thing we didn't love was the curry, we opted to make it vegetarian and probably shouldn't have because it was very bland. It's worth leaving the highway for!!! If you're driving by Canmore, stop to eat here. We were in Canmore for a week and ate here twice and planning on stopping here every time we are near Canmore. It's our new favorite. They had this pumpkin creme Brule just for Thanksgiving or was incredible. The food was beyond spectacular. Next level elite. The baba ganoush fries and masala ribs are must haves. We had the short rib, Bavette, Thai chicken, and the salmon. They were all amazing. Dessert was sticky date pudding with orange cardamom ice cream. The ice cream they make in house. Along with everything else. The food was great, the drinks were also really, really good. We didn't have any reservations when we came here for dinner, but we were seated as soon as we got there. They asked if we were ok with outdoor seating, and that was perfect! We wanted a view of the mountains during dinner. We ordered the giant parmesan churro, the Dude pizza and the ceviche. Everything tasted nice. I took out one star, because they didn't give us a kid's menu when they seated us (My daughter is 11 years old). A few minutes after I had placed our orders was when I overheard the other waiter say something like, "the kid's menu comes with a free dessert" to the table next to us. That was when I asked our waiter about it, and he said, yes they do have a kid's menu, so I asked for it. However, after 10 minutes, still no kid's menu. Came here for lunch and we were immediately seated at a very comfy table (nice armchairs/pillows). We ordered the Oscar Wilde pizza and the Pickle Brined Fried Chicken. The pizza was excellent, the cheese blend was tasty and the crust was crispy but also light and fluffy. I really liked the aioli for the fried chicken and I enjoyed the aromatics (lemon & dill). Could've definitely turned up the spice (more pickled Serrano please), and my boyfriend wasn't too keen on the acidity levels which he thought was too much for some bites. Eclectic, inventive menu with something for everyone. Great location in the heart of Cranmore near Safeway and easy parking and a great outdoor space. Great for an intimate dinner or a group affair. Big focus on an extensive drink menu. Service was very polite and food came out hot and delicious. We received much less attention than those who ordered alcohol - 2 couples near us ordered cocktails and wine respectively and they had near-constant attention from the waitress. Our only drink order was iced tea and not once were we asked for a refill or another - we only saw our waitress for our check after ordering. Typical for an alcohol focused place but a minor issue. The food was terrific - the beet salad was sooooo good! We had the salmon and the Thai chicken. The flavors of each were fabulous. Good sized portions. I generally don't like writing bad reviews, but after reading the multiple star reviews, we decided to give the restaurant a try on our first day in Canmore/ Alberta as part of a weeklong trip. The experience unfortunately left my group avoiding Canmore/ Canmore restaurants for the remainder of our trip. Overall - Service from our server was average in some instances and below standard in others. - Service from other members - hostess and busser were good and friendly. - Food was slightly above average overall, some good, and some average. But no food is worth subpar service in my opinion. - If we had another server, or even the busser for the entire service, I think it could've easily been a 4 star review. ==== The Good - We didn't have a reservation on a Friday night and the hostess was kind enough to make room for a group of 4 after a 15 minute wait, which we appreciated. - It was slightly busy and while the hostess was not at the stand when I arrived a server informed me she would be right with me. - The steak and squash were good. One of the only highlights of the evening. - The Chef's Curry was average, a little light on the taste, okay for a member of our group, but I found it slightly towards the bland side. - Our water was refilled, by the busser who was friendlier. The Bad - Service from our server was like a rollercoaster - friendly in some instances and almost rude at other times. - While it was slightly busy, there were times when she should've checked on us, but didn't even after eye contact was made in comparison to many other restaurants. She wasn't busy enough to not check on other tables. - While we were discussing the menu and waiting to order (we waited quite a while for the server to come back after dropping off the menu), she rushed over, reached over a member of our group's arm and grabbed the cocktail menu without asking if we needed it or apologizing or saying anything and rushed off to drop the menu off to another table. - We waited longer and when she returned, she did not ask if we were ready, she did not greet us, we just told her our order while she wrote it down. - It was at this point when we decided to "gently" inform her of our displeasure by asking her for the cocktail menu and that we had some questions for her before she previously took it away. - Food came slowly with no indication or communication from our server. - After the food arrived, and after we gently informed our server of our displeasure, she did seem slightly friendlier. - When we asked about adding to our order later, our server indicated that it's a bit too late (kitchen closed), but added that she would check. She never came back to us after that with a response. We understand that it's late and the kitchen probably closed, but if she offered to check, then she should be returning to let us know. To be honest, I really wished I didn't give the amount of gratuity I did. I can't remember the last time I regretted my decision on the gratuity amount as much as I did later that night after I left the restaurant. It's left such a sour taste out our mouths that we ended up eating in Banff the next night and making our own food the night after. While it may be a single individual and a single incident, we lost our interest in staying, dining and exploring any other part of Canmore. If anyone asks me, the restaurant is definitely not one I would recommend and I regretted not picking another restaurant that night. read more

We are back after what seems to be an eternity at this wonderful place in Canmore. We started our meal with an awesome Thai carrot soup. The soup was mildly spicy with delicious subtle flavour undertones. My wife followed her soup with perfectly prepared ribs and fries salted with kosher salt. My daughter and I had Thai chicken curry with basmati rice and naan bread. Delicious curry worthy of a master chef. My daughter and I shared a chocolate buddino for dessert. A highly satisfying meal as near to culinary perfection as possible. I have had Thai curry in Thailand and I can compare. And the mountains were spectacular. My most recent visit to Crazyweed did not meet the expectations of memories I had here. I hyped it up quite a bit to my girlfriend so after our average meal I was left kind of disappointed. I will say if I could give it 3.5 stars I would. We ordered the Brussel Sprouts, Tartare, Ahi Tuna, and the Calamari. I personally thought the Tartare was easily the best dish of the bunch and my girlfriend preferred the Ahi Tuna. I went on and on about the Calamari before we got there, saying that it was the best I had ever had but it turned out to be much more bland than previous memories. Also the Brussel Sprouts were just average. I'd probably go back when I'm in Canmore just because from what I remember it's usually better than what I experienced this time around.
