Easter Sunday brunch. 2026. It could not have been better. Our party of 7 arrived at noon. We were seated right away with our reservation. The staff was tremendous. Some of the buffet items were: beef brisket, short ribs, pork belly, ham, salmon, shrimp salad, eggs Benedict, omelet station, scalloped potatoes, Montecristo rolls, bison cabbage rolls , pasta, fresh fruits, veggies, salads, gorgeous desserts and Easter themed confections. It cost $59.00 per plate. Drinks were extra. The room is bright with mountain view. Chairs are comfy. Tables beautifully set up. There is a classy looking bar in another room and more seating. Absolutely love this place! Staying at the hotel and just arrived from Colorado. Wanted something cozy and delicious. Little rainy outside didn't want to wander the town and tried the hotel restaurant. We are so glad we did. My cocktails were off the charts. My husband is in love with his Short rib, poutine and I love my gnocchi! We also really found the rock crab appetizer to be quite tasty and just the right amount. The Mac and cheese and taco flatbread happy hour apps we got were pretty good, tasty and a great value. We also ordered the 140 oz rib eye for dinner and there was a lot of fat, not the marbling way either so we were very disappointed. The service is good and it's a nice place. read more

The food was amazing we hit this spot for breakfast and had the buffet. The chef was constantly visible checking to ensure that all items were fresh and well stocked. The omelet station was great you placed your request and no standing around waiting they confirm which table your at and you can continue to get your other items and they bring it to your table. All the staff we interacted with were high professional. The layout of the tables was well placed you didn't gave other tables right on your elbow. We will be back here every visit to Canmore. The Manger was constantly visible interacting with the quests ensuring the highest standards were maintained. My top item of the day is their omelet. read more

My husband told me to get both because it was my birthday. So I did I got the cozy colada and the Gateau aux Marrons dessert. Staying at the hotel and saw they had a steak and lobster special on Thursdays. Made dinner reservations for 7pm. Place was pretty empty on the left side that we were seated in. Service was fast and food actually came out pretty fast too. He was kind in listening to my feedback and really wanted to make up for my disappointment. For food we ordered semolina fries which my husband thought were regular French fries that had a truffle aioli sauce but it's not. It's a thick piece of potato or cheese deep fried and plated in a small fry basket. So definitely not what we were expecting but it was good. The outside was crunchy from being fried perfectly and the inside was super smooth and creamy. We both ordered the special. I had mine medium rare and his was rare. And a kids mac and cheese which was supposed to come with vanilla ice cream but I think he just forgot about it because of my complaints. I tried the kids mac and cheese and it was too cheesy but not the good cheesy. The cheese was dry and gritty tasting even though it came out with the appetizer. My daughter only took a few bites and didn't eat anymore because she didn't like it. And she was excited for Mac and cheese. Steak was a definite miss. Do not get it. It's a 12 ounce loin strip and it was sooooo chewy and hard to cut. You know the steak isn't going to be good when you need to take a chain saw to it to cut it. I was extremely disappointed with the first bite. But I was hungry so I kept exercising my wrist and hacking away. There were soo many fat tendon pieces that I could not cut through and even if I did get it cut I couldn't chew through it. Lobster was good. I gave my complaints to the server and he was so kind and apologetic about it. He tried to get me a different steak cause he didn't want me to be hungry but I wasn't in the mood. (As I write this before bed I am starving lol). But then the manager came over and asked about our evening and I gave him the same complaints but his face was so rude. Like I was just another complaining customer trying to win a free meal. Which I didn't get. He gave a 25% discount but was not kind about it. As a group of people travelling around the world and food lover, I would expect the dinning experience would be up to par at an equivalent level at such a high end hotel in Canmore. Apart from staying few nights here, I booked a table for an anniversary dinner which we were actually expecting the King's Table Experience which we only know this was only available on the weekends. This has been waiting for more than 5 minutes at the door until someone comes by and greet. Starter comes quick but I definitely would not recommend for the fried chicken tender if you may. They are totally over cooked. Waited another 25 min until the main to come, but it ended up come with a wrong order. We were told there was not an under staff issue. But this was just lack of attention everywhere. This is a whole lot of disappointment throughout the dinner. If you come by for an anniversary dinner or something to celebrate, this is definitely not the one. Such a fabulous meal in Canmore during our visit. We had the Tuesday night pasta dinner and it was ridiculous in deliciousness AND the amount of food we had. They literally gave us the entire menu. If you wanted more of anything you could have it. We could barely make a dent in it all and the small plates were not indeed small. We all had different favourites. I love the gnocchi. My son loves the Mac and cheese. My husband loved the ravioli. It does get busy but our server was friendly, efficient and kept us up to speed on what was coming next. We are staying a walking distance by near the Malcom hotel where this restaurant is. We ordered the burger and the house salad and both were very tasty. Great ambiance where we sat outside near the pond. Friendly servers. I would recommend this place. read more

This is 2 reviews in 1. The lounge was great. In general the service was good and the food was amazing! Our appies brussel sprout and cauliflower bites were great. The seafood ravioli and my burger also so tasty! I would go back, even just for a drink. We also had breakfast in the other side. Both mornings the food was amazing, the omelette, the big breakfast with eggs, bacon, sausage, toast and potatoes. The smoked salmon bennys were also really good. The thing that got this a 4 out 5 instead of a 5 was the hostess / waitress. I literally had to look for her to get us a table and when I found her she was texting. The grumpy service getting us a table was awful. In general I wouldn't complain but it was bad... after that the actual waitress was very good but wow the hostess was bad. My wife and I had dinner at the Sterling Grill at the Malcolm Hotel this evening. Amber was our server and she was outstanding! Service was excellent, friendly, known and pleasant but not cloying or smothering. The Steak Tartare was excellent. My duck with risotto was very well done and my wife loved the sable fish. The key lime dessert was very tasty. The only disappointment was that the initial scotch that I wanted wasn't available, but they have a very good selection. There was a wedding reception going on on the patio, but it was just a lively background buzz and not annoying in the least. We will definitely be back. Not cheap, but very good value for the money. read more

We had a wonderful evening last night with my 2 year old daughter and my wife, celebrating our wedding anniversary. Service was perfect and food was great. They were very accommodating to our daughter and she truly enjoyed her Mac and Cheese from the kid's menu. The noise level was adequate for a Saturday night and our food (I ordered the steak and my wife the onion soup) was delicious. Price was on a par with a hotel restaurant. I was excited to go to the Stirling Lounge. That excitement was dashed after waiting an hour for our food. The food itself, well, the Cauliflower Bites were smothered in Teriyaki sauce and came out cold. The Pork Belly was dried out. For the main course, the Butter Chicken was in such a tiny portion and was very watery. This was all too bad, as the restaurant itself is quite beautiful and in a great location. Fix your food, get the kitchen in order, then you might have a winner on your hands. read more

It was interesting. We went for high tea at 12 noon. Checked in with restaurant manager at 11:51. Was told to go look at Xmas tree display and come back in 9 mins. Not a very welcoming experience. During our tea there was a table of four ladies seated beside us. We were the only ones in the entire restaurant. The same manager came up to the table of ladies and asked to see their reservation. it was very uncomfortable as we could clearly hear everything that was going on. It turned out these ladies had somehow booked the wrong "experience" and the manager went on and on about it. I couldn't believe the fuss given the entire restaurant was empty otherwise. I felt very uncomfortable with the whole thing and the scrutiny that paying guests were being subjected to. We will not be back to this restaurant as a result. read more

My husband and I dined here for our anniversary while we were staying at the Malcolm Hotel. The restaurant was located a 2 minute walk indoors for us from our hotel room which was super convenient for us as it was pretty cold and snowy outside. The lounge of the restaurant was somewhat busy and the dining room was quiet for a Saturday evening at about 8 pm. My husband and I enjoyed the food overall immensely. Food was well-prepared and my petite tenderloin was cooked a fine medium rare. I found my lobster tail a bit cold and slightly overcooked but my fingerling potatoes were cooked to a crispy perfection. The restaurant also provided us with two tasty and complimentary appetizers which we very much enjoyed. My husband got the pork rack which was succulent and also had a side of boursin mashed potatoes that were also quite tasty.  I have to lower the star rating because of the slow service. My glass of water remained mostly dry throughout the evening. We also waited over an hour for our food even though we were only one of two tables in the dining room. Our server was very kind and the food was quite tasty but because of the service we might try the lounge next time instead! read more

We got take out from Stirling Lounge two days while we were staying nearby at a condo. We had their burger (which was enough for two people) which was cooked to order including the fries which were requested to be extra crispy - delicious and flavorful! We had their caesar salad which was also flavorful and fresh. We also had their steak sandwich - also cooked perfectly and delicious. We also had their butter chicken - with delicious tikka masala flavor. The nachos were excellent too. And we split their key lime pie which was creamy and delicious. read more

My family, friends and I often come to Canmore and stay and the Malcolm. the Stirling is our favourite and must visit every trip. The manager Cody, the chef Jacob and waitstaff always go above and beyond. The food and drink are also to die for! read more

The food is good considering its a hotel restaurant. We checked in late so our group decided to just have dinner here.For appetizer, we had the nachos - it was so good, it was gone in minutes. We also had the burger - was well done but very good, the fries that comes with it are crispy and well seasoned. I had the salmon with risotto - it was one of the best I had, crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. Other foods we had are butter chicken - not bad for a non Indian restaurant and fish and chips - fish was fresh. The only thing is its on the expensive side, hence the 4 stars. There were only a few people when we came so we were seated right away. Our food came out quickly and all at the same time so we didnt have to wait for each other to eat. Some dishes were great others were just good but the main entree, steak was probably the best cooked and the best cut of steak I've ever had. We chose to dine at the Stirling Grill for our Thanksgiving dinner and can't say enough about our delicious meal. The best turkey dinner ever, and the service by our waitress, Caroline, was outstanding! The chef paid all the patrons a short visit during the meal and he was most humble and deserving of all accolades. I would not hesitate to eat there again! I have to give this place a mediocre review. We waited forever for our food. Seems like it was a staffing issue being a new hotel/restaurant. It took an hour and half for our food and once it came is pretty good but not great. They had some event upstairs that must have occupied the kitchen the whole time we were waiting. We asked for bread after an hour since we were pretty hungry at this point. I was surprised they didn't offer that to make up for the wait. They did give us a discount off our food so that was a nice gesture. We probably won't take the risk again. It could be good for you if they staff their chefs correctly. The butter chicken came in literally the smallest portion I have ever seen for the dish, and was quite bland. My wife and I stayed at The Malcolm for our wedding and ate at The Stirling for most of our meals. The food was very good and reasonably priced, and the staff were amazing!! Our waitress in the morning even went so far as to fully compensate our meal and sent us up mimosas to celebrate our wedding!! Great place to eat! read more

Came to the Stirling Grill in the bar area for dinner and the food was ok. Had the French Onion soup and was not like most French Onion soup but flavor was good. Had the bruschetta and was super bland had to ask for basil & balsamic. The salad with seafood was also kind of bland. Everything was fresh and the presentation was nice. Clean restaurant and nice set up. Good drinks! Was expecting more for the $$ and location. read more
