I found this little gem of an eatery on the outer skirts of Banff Town. I was looking for a place that I have never dined at before in Banff. I went searching for a menu that looked elevated and had a diverse offering that would satisfy my party of four who wanted to eat local meat, fish and vegetarian/vegan options. I landed on Good Folk which is a fairly new restaurant (A little more than a year old) located in the Otter Hotel. The staff was attentive, efficient, personable, well versed with the menu and able to comment on their recommendations from tasting the dishes themselves. A well appointed bar and mixologist capable of concocting four diverse drink orders ranging from a Hendrick's Dirty Martini up, shaken with olives, a smokey Manhattan and two mocktails. read more

This is considered one of the top restaurants in Banff, and now I completely understand why. Every dish we ordered was outstanding, with incredible flavors that truly jumped off the plate. The best breakfast we had at banff hands down. If we had more time we would've went here a second time! We got the croque madame and eggs Benedict and it was literally *chef kiss*. BEETROOT CHEESECAKE 12 wine poached pear, hibiscus short bread crust, blackberry foam -It seemed interesting on the menu. I don't think the blackberry foam was impressive. It mostly tasted like beet and I didn't like the texture too much. The food was pretty good and on par with the Juniper. Such was the formation of my first impressions of Alberta. It was the first day of our waitress, so I guess I can cut her some slack. However, I wish there were some blinds that could come down as the sun was in my eyes for most of the meal. We came here for our first meal in Banff since we stayed at the Otter Hotel, and what a first meal it was! The food here is spectacular, and I don't say that lightly. We had the Mussels, the bison burger and the Hokkaido scallops and pork belly. Everything was fresh, had great ingredients and tasted amazing. The star of the show without question was the mussels. It was a dish with wow factor for sure. The Thai soup base was great and the portion was huge. We got so many mussels! Hats off for the great service here as well. We got great recommendations and even a pro tip to throw some fries in the mussel soup. The restaurant was very clean and had an upscale feel to it as well. Really enjoyed our meal at Good Folk, the food and drinks were excellent and had a lot of unique options . The Mediterranean hummus, pita, and cauliflower appetizer was the favorite. The bison burger was decent too. The only downside was the service, our server never mentioned the specials to us, even though we heard him list them for other tables nearby. Opened on Dec 13, 2024, this newcomer is killing it with 5-star cuisine. The mussels in a Thai curry broth, and the burrata with charred cauliflower are must try appetizers. Okay this is THE spot in Banff. We visited Good Folk twice while we were in town and had the most amazing dinner both times. The service is incredible - the waiters asked us how our first couple bites were within minutes of our meals arriving to the table, which was so impressive. We had a wonderful experience at Good Folk, so much so that we had breakfast here twice. The Good Folk is inside the Otter Hotel and is easily accessible via the lobby. The restaurant has a masculine feel to it, and is very cozy with a large fireplace dominating the entrance. The coffee at the restaurant was the best in Banff. My friend especially loved the maple latte (which was made with real maple syrup). I ordered the Good Folk breakfast with eggs, rosti, sourdough and wild boar chorizo. The meal was very filling, and exactly what was needed before a long hike. The service at the Good Folk is great - the servers were all very friendly and knowledgeable about the food. If you come to banff, expect mediocre food. It's just a really....EXCEPT at Good Folk. We stayed at th otter hotel and ate here three time and it was by far the best food in banff. For breakfast they have a delicious omelet with potato roati fries in duck confit...wow...we really enjoyed. For dinner we had several dishes including the bison burger, perfectly crusted and prepared...as well as the ribeye for two. Salads are unique and fun and the atmosphere is quiet enough and classy modern with great views. They also seem to always have the fireplace going so you get a slight warm fire smell which relaxes you while you enjoy great service. We plan to come back and will probably eat here every day we do. read more

Service spectacular! We had asked for a table with a view which they provided. Unfortunately, the sun was shinning directly on the table and me. We ask to change tables and they that did so with a smile. This has to be frustrating but they did so with as attitude of, "...of course, it would be our pleasure." On top of that, the general service from our server was top notch! Good wine selection, we started with oysters which were spot-on good, our trout was perfect, and the brussel sprouts were actually the star of the meal. The bartenders were all very friendly, the drinks were well-made, our waitress was very attentive and the food arrived at just the right speed.
