Dragon Roll, Avocado Roll, and local beer

Friendly service and staff. I ordered two rolls (pictured), and my wife ordered the ramen and hamburger gyoza. My rolls and her gyoza were fantastic. But my wife was not a fan of the ramen. We would definitely return if given the chance.

We liked this place so much, we went twice during our short trip at Banff. There was so much variety for our wants from steak to ramen, that left us satisfied. We were surprised the ramen was pretty decent for a place like this. The interior felt very modern and aesthetically pleasing so it was unassuming that they will have decent ramen. The prices are quite reasonable for what they are. The service here is superb and got to enjoy the experience of dining here. I also like how they bring teapots for tea. The sushi here is also quite good and would recommend. The steak was not a standout but it is still good.

Located in downtown Banff, it looked appealing from the reviews online and from the decor outside and inside. It does have a cute feel. Food was good, I'm from California tho and this was not comparable to the food there. The sushi is overpriced but nothing is really good out here in Canada. Our favorite was the chefs roll and the lobster fried rice. We were told the salmon spicy roll was good, it wasn't, the rice is compacted and had a weird taste with very little salmon. They do have a kids menu which all the kids enjoyed, their fave was the karage and potato fries and grilled chicken and rice. It was juicy enough and flavorful, just didn't add the mayo since kids just prefer ketchup on the side. Now service is where I wasn't a huge fan of. One of the bussers not even the server got annoyed that SHE forgot to give my kid crayons for their kids menu. I asked for it twice bc she forgot and the second time she basically threw the crayons in front of my daughter. Also we sat on this pretty round fireplace table BUT the table was like a walkway behind me with this wall so everyone passing me was behind me to get thru the other side of the room. It was such a weird setup!! The waiters and waitresses and even people going in and out of the kitchen and bathroom had to literally pass behind me on a small section. So dumb and ruined the experience. Our actual server was nice so I felt bad bc he was good. But the dumb busser and even the front desk lady gave attitude otherwise I'd give a 2 for poor service. Fix that asap, how annoying.

I came here with my partner and we each got the omakase and a smoked salmon sushi roll to share. The omakase consisted of mostly warm items and they were all pretty decent. The smoked salmon roll was a bit disappointing since it only had cucumber on the inside and we couldn't taste the horseradish (we love horseradish!). The service here was great! We informed our server of my partner's food allergy, and she made sure to let us know during each round of the omakase that the dish was prepped with the allergen in mind. The ambience was great and I feel like it would be a great spot to visit if dining with a bigger group, especially with the karaoke rooms that you can reserve.

Love the decor - the restaurant is really modern and has lots of natural light from the street-facing window. The hostess was friendly and we were seated quickly even though it was a weekend. The menu is small but has a bit of everything. Everyone enjoyed their food. Our favourite dish was the scallops which were absolutely phenomenal, but was prepared completely differently from the description in the menu. They also do karaoke in the evenings, but we didn't have a chance to try it.

Super cute spot to carb up for your banff adventures! We joined for happy hour which was an awesome deal. We got to try every happy hour rolls which were nicely crafted and will please any crowd. We also enjoyed the happy hour drinks which were were delicious and well balanced. I wish we had more time to explore other menu items! Also don't miss the merch if you want a more unique tee shirt option.

Sushi is great, presentation is a little different but I dig it! Service was good, no complaints. Restaurant is very nice inside and has an open door setup! Give it a try if you're looking for some good sushi in Banff!

The coolest ambiance, the kindest staff, and deliciously fresh sushi served quickly! Start off with the refreshing Lychee Martini and Scallop Carpaccio to cool off. Staff highly recommended the: Spicy Miso King Salmon Press- it's phenomenal and so flavorful! We were so impressed at how quickly the food was served once we ordered! They also were able to squeeze us in on a busy night with no reservations made. We were told it's the best sushi in town and we couldn't agree more!

OMG, SUCH GOOD VIBES!! I was shocked by how beautiful and fun this restaurant was because my friends was somehow able to get us a reservation for 8 people right before peak dinner hours, and they sat us inside of a private Karaoke room. The decor was gorgeous, and the restaurant is so clean. Despite how busy they are, food and drinks came out right away. Staff and service are SO sweet and kind, and I honestly can't say enough good things about Hello Sunshine. My friends and I are all Asian, and we truly did not expect top notch Asian food, but wow. This place hits. Their menu is extensive, and you'll honestly face decision paralysis with how many options you'll have. The pork ramen was actually so good, and the broth was phenomenal. The noodles are the kinds of starchy and thick ramen noodles that I like, and they are generous with toppings. We had such a blast drinking, eating, and singing Karaoke. The vibes were 11/10!!

Came in a group of 4. The tonkotsu ramen was pretty solid -- broth was decent and the pork was actually really good. The chicken broth ramen, though... kinda tasted like instant noodle seasoning. Chef's roll was just okay, nothing memorable. Matcha cocktail was also pretty average. That said, service was great! Super friendly and attentive, which definitely helped the overall experience. Probably wouldn't be my go-to for ramen, but not a bad spot if you're nearby and want a chill meal.

Great surf (sushi) and turf (ribeye)! One of the best sushi I have had! The ribeye was done really well with a hint of Asian flare (maybe coz of the fried garlic? :) ) I would go back anytime!

Ribeye with 2 sauces, lobster fried rice, Maui wowie, chef's roll, matcha colada
    Tiffany K.

Had my birthday dinner here and was able to make a rez on Open Table. Fairly lively atmosphere and lovely space. We did not do the private karaoke room but it seems like such a fun activity for a group! Our server was great and had many recommendations to which we followed. We ordered the non-alcoholic matcha colada, Tokyo fries, Maui wowie maki roll, chef's roll, Alberta ribeye tataki style with yuzu shallot butter & yakiniku bbq sauce, lobster fried rice, and yuzu sesame tarte to finish. The matcha colada was very mild in matcha flavor and it was mostly ice. I would skip out on the Tokyo fries. I ordered two extra sauces on the side for the ribeye but the ribeye spoke for itself and it did not need it. Everything else was great and the yuzu tarte was the perfect balance.

A pretty nice Japanese restaurant in downtown Banff. We shared a little boat (6 pieces of sashimi) that were beautifully cut, fresh and tasty. We also tried the Chef's roll but this was not particularly noteworthy. It wasn't bad but did not wow us like we were hoping. The Pork Tonkotsu ramen was not what were hoping for. We were looking forward to a much creamier and thicker broth. Overall, a decent meal but not something we would have again.

Admittedly, I'm not much of a drinker but I'll have some once in a while and Bear Street seems to have a pretty good selection. I tried a Vietnamese Coffee Stout which I enjoyed. I'm definitely more of an eater than I am a drinker and the eats at Bear Street Tavern are excellent. My party got 2 pizzas and a salad and we enjoyed it all. To start we got the Tavern Bowl. It's a bunch of different vegetables with a Tahini Miso Dressing and kimchi on top. All the different textures and flavors worked really well together and the salad served as a nice break between bites of pizza. The Wheeler Hut pizza has mushrooms, ricotta, truffle oil, pesto, and mozzarella. If you're a fan of truffle flavor you'll enjoy this pizza. As soon as it was brought out I could already smell the truffle. The Mediterranean has olives, feta cheese, sun-dried tomatoes, artichokes, red onions, chili flakes, spinach, mozzarella, and balsamic glaze. A little busier than the Wheeler Hut, but it was equally delicious. I'm not sure which pizza I liked more. Both pizzas had a fantastic crust with some char. Substantial enough to stand up to the toppings but still a little doughy for a nice chew. The char gives a nice crunch as well. Service is quick and friendly and the prices are fair, especially in a tourist area. I definitely recommend Bear Street Tavern.

One of the best things about Banff Ave Brewing is that all appetizers are half off on Fridays (at least during happy hour)! They also have a nice selection of beers. Their flights are neat in that they offer 6 options instead of the more typical 4, so you can try everything you want to try. We had the nachos, poutine, and several beers. The poutine was a bit salty but the nachos were excellent, definitely get the beer cheese sauce as an add-on. I also got to try a special dragonfruit kolsch they had on tap, which was really mild and easy drinking as well. I'll definitely be back when I'm in Banff again!
