The restaurant is besutifully decorated and the service was great! I really enjoyed all of pasta that we got. It was seasoned perfectly, flavorful, al dente, and a good portion as well. The drinks were also good but a little too sweet in our opinion. Overall, great experience and would highly recommend for anyone visiting Banff read more

This place had the most amazing food. We had mixed reviews on it from locals, but decided to go check it out anyways. Thank God we did! Get the Caprese as an appetizer. One of the best I've had. Also, anything you order, add Burratta to it because their Burrata is so good and makes everything even more better! I added it to my spicy rigatoni pasta, and my mom had the pizza. When we first came in, they set us at a high top and we requested a low top which they were so gracious to let us switch tables. I felt bad because it also switched our waitress, but both of our backs were very uncomfortable on the high top tables. Atmosphere is OK. They do have a balcony that you can eat on, but it was really hot that day so we sat inside in the AC. If I went to Banff again, I would go here again. read more

We came here during happy hour from 4 to 5 PM since we couldn't secure a reservation online. They do take walk ins and have a waitlist for anyone who is flexible with their schedule. There was a line when we arrived as many people had the same idea but we got a table right away. During happy hour, they offer three different pasta dishes, five pizzas, and two antipasti dishes/salads. There was a great selection of discounted alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks. I like the restaurant's decorations and ambiance. We ordered the frozen peach Bellini, vesuvian blossom, caprese salad, Roseline, and rigatoni Bolognese. The caprese salad was okay that needed a bit of salt. The happy hour pasta dishes were quite salty and both tasted almost the same to me. I saw some of their pizzas at other tables and they looked amazing. I would like to try one next time. The drinks were amazing, especially the frozen peach Bellini. It was fruity without being too sweet and didn't have a strong alcohol taste. read more

The best happy hour around. A fab pizza with a unique and super flavorful sourdough crust, good (strong!) drinks, and one of the best Caesar salads I have had to date. We were too full to eat more but wish we could've because tables near us had an amazing looking vodka pasta and steak. I mean wow. One suggestion: give us a decent knife to cut the Caesar! But a must go in Banff. read more

This may have been the best Italian meal we've ever had anywhere, perhaps a top 5 meal of all time. We started with the spicy meatballs and caprese and both were excellent. The caprese was so fresh and light and the meatballs the perfect contrast, not too spicy. For the mains we had the agnolotti and roseline and both were out of this world. Kept going back and forth on what we liked more. Flavor explosions, creamy and rich filled pasta with the agnolotti; thered sauce in the roseline, with extra cheesy goodness, kind of like a sideways lasagna with ham...so good. And even though we were too full for dessert we had to try the tiramisu because we assumed (rightly) that it was going to be amazing and it was. Best we've ever had! Will make this a stop anytime we're in Banff, must visit! read more

We were lucky to snag an evening reservation at Lupo. The restaurant was quite nice. Service was even more lovely! We tried a pizza, two pastas, and a Caesar salad. I would say the food is good to above average but not spectacular. Would definitely love to explore the menu more if I make it back to Banff. Overall a good spot to get your Italian fix. read more

The service was amazing from the moment we got here. The background of Banff was amazing also. The food was amazing. You must get the Mozzarella Sticks, they were amazing. The main dishes were also awesome! We had the duck 5 star, the seafood linguine was also amazing, with a little kick on the spice. Everything was homemade, and you could taste it. Will definitely come back when we're in town!!! read more

I am so blown away with how many great restaurants Banff has and Lupo is no exception! This was some amazing Italian food. Very similar to the best Italian restaurants in Los Angeles. I had the sun and blood cocktail which was EXCELLENT. I highly recommend this if you like mezcal. 9.5/10 Our party of 6 had the following starters: -caprese salad: this was probably the low point in the meal for me. The burrata could have been better quality and the tomatoes could have been more flavorful. 6.5/10 -garden salad: this one floored me! This is one of the best salads I've ever had! It had a bright vinaigrette that really popped! The almonds were a lovely accompaniment. 9/10 -Cesar salad: the Cesar was anchovy forward which I like, my table did not like having to cut up the lettuce. But this was a very salads Cesar 7/10 -focaccia: the focaccia bread was great. Nice and light and airy. Well seasoned. Served with well seasoned olive oil. 8.5/10 -mushroom pizza: this was great! I love mushrooms so this was right up my alley. Great thin crust, great choice of cheeses. It was a lovely umami bomb. 8.5/10 I ordered the agnolotti and it was heavenly. The potato and raclette filling was very rich, and the truffle butter sauce only added to the richness, but it was the perfect dish to warm me up. I made several people try it at my table since they had never had agnolotti and they all said it was really good. 9/10 I also ordered the josper beets which were delicious. They had a smoky flavor that paired well with the pesto sauce. 8/10 We finished the dinner with tiramisu which was divine. Definitely recommend this dish! 9/10 Our server was very sweet, she was very attentive. The restaurant itself has a lively, nicer-casual vibe. It was a treat to eat here! read more

We got lucky today getting into this place in Banff after being on the waitlist as they're booked solid for days. It's clearly a fancy, heavily invested restaurant right in the middle of town, but here's the thing: the prices are outrageous. Banff isn't cheap to begin with, but $28 for a plain pasta with no protein? That's pushing it. We added shrimp for another $12, and they brought exactly three shrimp. Yes, three. Service was slow, food took ages, and when it arrived, it was nothing special. I've been to fine dining spots where you can taste the quality, see the artistry, and actually understand the price point. This wasn't that. It's a regular place with Instagram-worthy décor but underwhelming food. The prices are the biggest pain point, and for very ordinary dishes, I just don't see the value. Unless you've got money to burn for an average meal, I'd pass. read more

Our group of 8 came here (with a reservation) after a LOOOONG day of hiking. We were hungry and tired af and Lupo did not disappoint at all. I got the sicilian sour to start off my meal and the server came back to make sure that it wasn't too sweet for my taste. Our group got a couple of things to share but the most memorable thing was the pork chop and the uncle morty (pizza). The meatball was a bit of a disappointment since there were only 3 meatballs. It was good... but not $8 a meatball good. Still consider this place a 5 star place because the food, service, and atmosphere is soooo worth checking out! read more

I'm so happy they could squeeze us in after Christmas so I can't really say anything about the service because it was super busy. It was insanely hard to get a waiters attention though. We got the seafood pasta and steak holiday special. The steak was horrible and $250. It was perhaps one of the worst steaks I've ever had in my life. It was chewy and the side had this unchewable tendon part. It was also insanely salty. The lobster fries were fried mac and cheese. I hate mac and cheese so I probably would have asked for a replacement or not gotten it if I had been told it was fried lobster mac and cheese to look like fries. The winter salad was amazing. I loved the arugula and squash together, sweet and salty. The seafood pasta had WAYYYY too much cheese. Like so much you the pasta was hard after about 3 seconds and it had this coating that sat at the back of my throat. It was also salty in a veryyyyy bad way. read more

You are greeted with a beautiful archway entrance that leads to two flights of stairs. Upon arriving to the second floor, you are transported to an outdoor feel inside, with a bar center with wooden pillars. The kitchen is and open concept with an enormous pizza oven. The maitre'd accommodated our reservation adjustment from 4PM to 5PM and had us seated at a comfortable booth. Avalon, our waitress, had wonderful recommendations including the happy hour entrees and delicious pasta. The pepperoni pizza and lasagna are highly recommended. This was one of our best meals in Banff!! I made a reservation for our large party the week before our trip. Our table was ready when we arrived and it was one of the best ones. Our party of 13 had one long table that took up its own part of the restaurant, with a window at the end with a fabulous view of the main street and mountain. The restaurant is entirely on the second floor of the building. We were there on a Tuesday so all pizzas are $16 starting at 4:30pm. Our server did not tell us about it, but we ended up getting one anyway, the Diavola. It was nice and the spicy sauce was on point. The dough was so light and chewy. I also had some of the Cacio e Pepe, which had perfectly cooked pasta. I tried the Spicy Rigatoni alla Vodka and the sauce was again very bold, and made the dish, along with the fresh pasta. We tried to come back here another night during our trip, but there were no reservations available. read more

We were visiting Banff and stopped by during HH with a group of 10 and had the most wonderful experience! Great service and all pastas are made fresh in house. The portions are large as well. The best meal I had in Banff!

We came here for dinner on our first night in Banff. We were impressed by the cool vibes of the place. Our waiter was excellent- very friendly and knowledgeable. We had the carbonara pasta with gluten free pasta, pesto pasta with gluten free pasta, a green salad, and roasted cauliflower with romesco. To me, the standouts were the salad and cauliflower. The salad was refreshing with nice nuanced flavors. The bright romesco was a great complement to the cauliflower. The pastas were great also. I liked that they use Rummo brand gluten free pasta because it doesn't fall apart like some other brands do. Overall a really good meal experience! read more

What a place. Fairly new spot. Beautifully crafted place. Server was so fun and kind. This was our first dinner spot, it was too good to not wait. Had an absolutely great time here. *You can either take the elevator or the stairs to the restaurant. It was in the middle of the week and during off season, so we didn't need any reservations or at least we got lucky with a table. Although I didn't walk around, but there was bar in the middle. We were tucked in the corner with a window view of outside, which made it less "snugged" with the other tables. We ordered the mozzarella appetizer (only 2 pieces), but we could've easily ordered 5 more plates of it. It was sooooo good and fresh, especially with the sauce. Take your last bite with the basil and sauce, bet you would fall in love! We ordered the Rosalyn and Spicy Rigatoni adding the burrata. Everything was to perfection and I wanted more even when I was so stuffed. Rosalyn was good, but the mozzarella was better. The spicy Rigatoni al dente was mm mmm good! Adding the burrata gave it an extra creamy texture and very filling. This dish should've/could've been shared if everyone can handle spicy. It actually had a nice kick to it. Would totally come back! read more

This place is wonderful! I'd 100% recommend stopping in the food is delicious and fresh. The ambiance is wonderful as well we sat on the patio but the inside is very nice as well, very clean. Pasta is made fresh everyday and you can taste it. The lamb is also excellent, though we hadn't order any the pizza looks and smells fantastic planned on getting one to go just to try it but physically couldn't fit anymore food. One critic I would as is maybe adding an option for chicken for a protein to add to pasta, etc. read more

Lupo is such a delicacy in the heart of the mountain town of Banff! From the moment we walked in we were greeted with excellent service from start to finish. Our server was so patient in hearing about our experience in Banff so far, providing extra details on the menu, good drink recommendations, and being timely! We had a beautiful scenic view in front of a big window which heightened our experience ever more. There is also a patio overlooking downtown with some great views that people seemed to be enjoying as well. Inside the restaurant there is a big window overlooking the kitchen where you can see them preparing the pasta fresh. For food we ate the house made Focaccia bread! It is served super warm with olive oil for dipping. * chefs kiss * We also did the Mafaldine Al Limone which served up some delicious lemony buttery goodness. I ordered the Pesto Campanelle and added the burrata with cracked pepper. (so worth it for extra charge) The pesto was some of my favorite pesto I have ever had! The wine menu was extensive and I had a nice pairing of wine with the pasta. I wanted to try the chicken parm but since that was only family style dining we opted for smaller portions since there was only two of us. The place is super popular so I recommend getting a reservation in advance if possible. I tried to book the same week and was only able to get a last minute 5:00 pm time slot. As we were eating, they were so booked they unfortunately had to turn some tables away. read more

Definitely come here during happy hour for a more affordable meal. Definitely order: Frozen peach Bellini (so good!) Pizza (full size and only $16CAD) Skip: Caprese salad: the happy hour portion was literally one tomato and one slice of mozzarella cut into quarters. $12CAD The Cesar salad was delicious with crispy capers on top. The mushroom lasagna was very good and had a lot of cheese in it. The pizza crust was SO GOOD! A great deal during happy hour. Service was very friendly. The view out the window was lovely. There's a giant pepper mill they use which is very entertaining to see. So if they ask if you would like pepper on your dishes, say yes! read more

Ten out of ten!!!!!!! Pasta made in house and seemed everything else was too. They take half a chicken butterfly it , crust it and make it a parm. It says feeds 2-4 people. But honestly it's more like 5-6. Everything was so good and we even had the salted caramel affogato which we ate in too much of a hurry to get a photo of. But to be completely honest my favorite thing was the salad!!! This place is swanky with a really lively atmosphere. It's really great for dates or large groups!! Service was quick and kept our waters full!! No complaints!!! read more

Why 4 stars? Because we enjoyed our experience here, even with one miscue. --- --- --- When planning a trip to Banff, my wife and I bookmarked countless restaurants in town and then compared notes. One of the few places we both knew we absolutely had to visit was Lupo. So it made perfect sense that we decided to do so for our first dinner after arriving earlier that day. We were torn between a few items, but we eventually narrowed our choices down to share three different things: Caesar Salad: 5-stars. No notes. Everything was great, including the anchovies, which were not overpowering at all. Uncle Morty Pizza: 4.5-stars. An interesting concoction of flavors make this unlike any sort of typical pizza, but it was was very enjoyable. Carbonara: 2-stars. Here's the bummer for me. My wife liked it more, but I found it to resemble carbonara that you'd order at a place like Dave and Busters (if D&B actually served such a thing). It was incredibly basic and lacked much flavor at all. Even in the presentation, there was an underwhelming amount of meat on top. This was easily my least favorite thing that I ate on my 5 day vacation between Vancouver and Banff. Overall though, I did enjoy the other things we ordered and the service was very friendly. I really dug the vibe of the place overall, but I really hope they dramatically overhaul their carbonara. read more

This is such a cute little Italian restaurant located in downtown Banff. The decor is very cute and the ambiance is nice. Great place to grab drinks and good food. They have a balcony with outdoor seating overlooking the downtown streets. We had the little gem caesar salad (with actual anchovies served wedge style), spicy rigatoni alla vodka, and the uncle morty pizza. The pasta was cooked perfectly and we had them make it mild spicy because my husband doesn't like it too spicy. The uncle morty pizza is SO good. The pistachios and truffle honey really added to the unique taste & texture. I'm still thinking about that pizza to this day! The server was very nice and gave us great suggestions. read more

I confess that the first time I saw Lupo from the street, I didn't think much of it from the outside signage. My spouse booked this place as a highly recommended restaurant. However, entering the restaurant, there was an entry way with tiles and stairs that led up to a fantastic, much larger than I expected room that made it look and feel authentically Italian.. and fun. On top of this, our server was excellent. He had a jovial nature and even suggested we include the fresh focaccia as a can't miss-- and it was definitely fresh and tasty. Our party was also convinced into trying the agnolotti, which was delicious, but stuck with some basic favorites like spaghetti and mushroom pizza. They did not disappoint, and we were very full. All in all, a very pleasant experience and a nice change from the very steak and fondue oriented other popular restaurants we went to in the Banff area (which weren't bad, but just made this feel even more fresh and outstanding). Would definitely give it another visit on account of hitting strongly on the big three of ambience, service, and food. read more

People in front of us went in and were able to choose seating. We heard it was some "first come first serve" basis based on where they wished to be seated. For reference, people before us were a group of 2. When we (group of 3) got to the front, the hostess told us that the waiting list was full and would take about an hour??? Closing time was in like 40 minutes. WTF?!? Just say the restaurant is fully booked at that point. Felt very disrespected and unwelcome here, didn't have the chance to even try the food.
