I made a reservation ahead of time for a late lunch/early dinner. We had the option of ordering off the happy hour menu or regular. We got a Cesar salad off the happy hour menu. It looks deceiving being one big wedge of lettuce but was delicious. I got the lemon pasta and wanted to add prawns, but only had the option of adding Italian sausage or meatballs. I went with the Italian sausage. The pasta was delicious, I would have liked a bit more lemon on it. The service was great, our server had a ton of great recommendations.
Came here the night before the Banff half marathon and we were very pleased with the food! Service was great even though they were disappointed we didn't order drinks. Great views upstairs, too. We got the focaccia and a salad to share, my friend liked her Agnolotti, and I loved my Mafaldine. Great flavor and quality. Large portions. Would be back.
An incredible experience at Lupo. We came with a reservation for a party of 12 and ate half family style, half getting our own dishes. Everything I had for dinner was delicious. The prawns were unique and well cooked, the caesar salad was super flavorful (although it comes not cut, so I cut and tossed myself for the table), and the scallop crudo was incredible. I tried a little bit of everyone's food as well as my own vodka pasta, which was delicious, but I really loved the pizza dishes as well. The diavola and uncle Morty had unique flavors and were cooked perfectly. Our service was quick even with our large group and we all left fueled and satisfied before our early hike the next morning.
Delicious, would come again. Waitress checked in often, appreciated that. Entrance is beautiful and everyone is dressed nice. Highly recommend for a date or girl's night out dinner.
Super cute restaurant in the heart of Banff's downtown area! It was very easy to book a reservation, and we were running late for our shuttle but I was able to easily move the reservation time back. We had a big party of 9, and our server was so excellent! I wish I caught her name because she was genuinely one of the nicest servers I've ever had. The food was pretty good, and the drinks were delicious. A must visit when looking for a dinner spot after your time in Banff!
Nice dining ambience, good food and good drinks! I enjoyed the frozen peach Bellini slush. Spaghetti was al dente and the meatballs flavorful (not very spicy). Good portion size for me.
We booked a reservation here a few months in advance because so many people had recommended coming here. Our server was THE BEST! She made the whole experience so fun and enjoyable. The food definitely hits the spot after a full day of hiking. The drinks were great as well. I think our favorite thing was the Nduja for the pastas. The aesthetic is great with an open kitchen concept with bar seating as well.
This place was one of the key takeaways for food on our Banff trip! Order the Seafood Linguine and Caesar Salad with a Espresso Martini for a drink. You are very welcome! We came here on a whim to find a nice place to eat as we were on our way to Lake Louise. We walked around town to find a place to eat and my wife loves Italian, so we tried to walk in at about 6pm. Luckily for us, there was an open seat (reservation are highly recommended.. it was packed). We were greeted by the waiter who gave us the choice of sparkling or still water. Fancy schmancy. We got the still house water. The place was packed, full, and a bit loud, but also romantic given the atmosphere and the views. Good place to take a date, but not a good place if you wanted a private booth/moment. I ordered the seafood linguine, and my wife ordered the spicy rigatoni alla vodka. We also ordered the little gem caesar to share, and she also go the coffee martini for her drink. I got soda. The caesar came out and it was one of the best caesars I had. It was presented by having two baby heads of romaine lettuce covered with caesar dressing. Very tasty and creamy. Very very good! Next time, I am going to order one for just myself! Only eating one baby romaine head left me wanting more! After the salad, the pastas came out and the seafood linguine was remarkable! Presented as a bundle of linguini with seafood on the sides, all covered in white wine/clam sauce. One of THE BEST seafood linguines I have ever tried! My wife's spicy rigatoni was spicy and had a kick (I am Thai so take that for what it's worth). My wife thought it was a bit too spicy for her, but overall the dish was meh. Reminds me of the pasta alla vodka at Cheesecake Factory, but without the sausage. I do believe if there was an option to add sausage, the dish would've been 100x better. The dish just got bland the more you ate it. And because of this, I ended up eating the rigatoni, and my wife ate the linguini lol. Just kidding.. kinda. We shared our plates :) I highly recommend this place. The rigatoni was nothing special, but everything else was spectacular. We were even contemplating going back there on our drive home, but it opened at 4pm that day, and that was too late on our schedule to wait. Nevertheless, we'll be back again!
So happy I got a reservation after being recommended to dine here when visiting. This place is amazing! My fiance and I are so impressed by the dishes. Upon entering, it's super aesthetic. You can walk up the stairs or take the elevator. The vibe is so cute and it's perfect for any celebration. Our server was great on recommendations, especially with drinks. Onto the food! Little gem Caesar: amazing. Perfect crunch and perfect portion. 5/5 Uncle Morty: wow... highly impressed. Pistachio on pizza? Game changer. We brought half home, cause we wanted to try it. 5/5 Carbonara: this was my fiancé's favorite. Texture was perfect and the ingredients. Fire ! so yes 7/5 I wish I had room for dessert cause everything was so amazing. I want to go back. Highly recommend!
I stumbled upon Lupo while searching Google for a nice dinner restaurant in Banff. Sorry Yelp, but, hardly anyone uses you in Alberta. They are located upstairs in the Cascade Shops. They seemed like they were separate from the mall with no direct access to the mall itself. Reservations were made about a month in advance. When we arrived, we were promptly seated. We ordered their seafood linguine and their halibut. The halibut was their fish of the day. The halibut was cooked in their Josper oven which kept the fish moist. The seafood linguine was full of shrimp, scallop, crabmeat and clams. My wife really enjoyed it. My only complaint was that their portions were a little small. Service was good. Our waiter was nice and tried making conversation with us. He kept our glasses full and checked up on us. It would be five stars if only they gave a little more.
We came here for our first dinner after we landed so of course we were starving! We got a gorgeous table with a beautiful view of the outside on the second floor- perfect table to celebrate my mom's anniversary! We ordered- Margherita 3.5- pizza is pizza, but the crust was good but the pizza was a little bit too salty for our liking. Pesto Campanelle 4.5/5- surprisingly this was so good! I didn't think it would hit the spot, because I'm very picky when it comes to pesto, but we were basically licking the plate! The sauce was so good and also paired perfectly with the complimentary bread! I understand why a lot of tourists say this is the place to go! Unfortunately we didn't get to try any of the cocktails, but I'm assuming they're just as great!
Wow! Swept away in romance from the entrance to the desert. The baked oysters were the best I've had in my life. Crunchy top with a buttery sauce almost made me ordering a second plate. Pasta was phenomenal. A must, even if just for a drink at the bar!
Amazing experience. Despite the wildfire smoke, my family and I had an amazing time sitting on the patio and enjoying the view. The service was excellent and our waiter was very personable and friendly. While the pasta in itself was incredible and perfectly cooked, my favorite thing I ate was the green salad (pictured below). This salad was unlike any other salad I had before, reminding me more of a healthy pancake stack than a salad and topped with a delicious pesto dressing. Super shareable as well! Highly recommend Lupo.
Loved the vibes and beautiful interior, but the long wait for food and dessert overshadowed it. The busy night made the restaurant feel understaffed, with rushed service between tables. I only noticed during the last refill that the water pitcher was left submerged into the glass after each pour, which is gross. read more

Man, I loved this place! Watching them make pasta was so awesome! I love that all pasta was made in house. The restaurant itself has such a cool atmosphere and the service is great. You must try the Sicilian Kiss cocktail. I do not enjoy gin very much but I didn't care when I drank this cocktail. It was so good. My husband kept trying to steal sips from mine despite him enjoying his Penicillin drink. We shared the ginormous Tomahawk steak between 3 of us. It came with 2 sides, and we chose the butternut squash and the broccolini. I wish there was a bit more of the squash to share but I guess the steak was filling enough without the extra squash. If you get the pizza, the crust is so light and fluffy. I forgot which one my friends ordered but it had pistachios in it and there were pistachios embedded inside the crust itself too. The focaccia bread was amazing as it always is. It's a good appetizer before dinner. I'm so glad we had dinner here last night. This will be a must visit every time we come back to Banff! read more

Everything was perfect from the window view on second floor to the pasta dishes as well as the roasted cauliflower and tiramisu- each item stood on its own and came together as a perfect meal. Replicate the order and you will not be sorry. Our waiter was brilliant as well with solid recs and balance of checking in while letting us enjoy the meal at our own pace. Highly recommend and can't wait to come back to try the pizza. read more

This spot was so highly rated! We already had our meal spots planned so unfortunately didn't try their food, but everyone's plates looked fantastic. It's a cute little spot on the second floor, open floor and very airy/bright. We sat at the bar and just got a couple frozen peach Bellinis which were great. If we had time we would have loved to have a meal here! So beautiful! read more

Was extremely unimpressed by this restaurant. I loved the music, lighting, and overall ambiance, but did not have the best experience with food/service. The margherita pizza was super bland. The tomato/marinara sauce was hardly there, and what was there did not have any tartness or seasoning to it. I did love the crust, which was thicker and chewy + crispy with a woodfire oven char to it. The best tasting item was the spicy rigatoni alla vodka, which unfortunately was served lukewarm. We asked for a little less spice, which resulted in the perfect level of spice for us (we have a low spice tolerance). Our server never checked in on us to refill drinks. We wanted to order more food + drinks and had to flag someone down. I would suggest going to a different restaurant in Banff Town. read more
Not to be confused with the Lupo in Vegas! This was my favorite meal in Banff. I wasn't anticipating to have this type of Italian dining experience in Banff so it definitely made my trip much more memorable. Lupo is one of Canada's 100 best restaurants so I had high expectations. My friends made reservations and we had to reschedule a couple of times because our hike went longer expected. The staff was nice and helpful. Service was fantastic. There were a lot of bachelorette parties and it seemed to be a more upscale place but the price wasn't too high. I ordered the Roseline (got the last one) which is a rolled lasagna with fontina, ham, and bechamel. It has great depth of flavor and there was a good amount of ham inside. It looked small but was actually pretty filling. I didn't have a picture of the Agnolotti that my friend ordered but I loved that dish well. Highly recommend it if you like truffle and rich flavors. Not sure when I would be back in Banff but I would definitely come again if I do! read more
Good Service to start with. The food though, was delicious. I had the best pizza I have ever eaten. I ordered the Margherita and it was perfect. Sized for one but so delicious. I also ordered the Capresse which was good. I had a good seat over looking the street. I highly recommend stopping in. The restaurant doesn't open till 3 but it is worth the wait. Enjoy! read more
I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. I went for happy hour and the servers were all amazing and so friendly. I ordered the Diavola pizza and the sourdough crust was to do for. Not to mention, the happy hour deal was incredible ($16 CAD - $12 USD) for a pizza. The vibes of the restaurant were top notch with a wonderful view of the mountains and downtown banff. 10/10 recommend read more
We stopped around 5, got seated right away. No wait. (When we left around 6. There's a decent line by the door waiting). Decor inside is ok. Nothing very special. Staff is friendly. Food is just ok. Caesar salad-5/5. The best Caesar salad I've ever had so far. Full of flavors and the lettuce is very fresh. The best dish we had there. The spicy rigatoni is just ok. 3/5. Flavor is very bland to me. Nothing special. I do like its texture. Seafood Linguine-3/5. Bland again. I read the reviews before going but I was a little disappointed by the food. Maybe the pasta dishes we ordered are not that great. But they were recommended by the waiter... read more

Amazing happy hour prices. Good tasting pasta. But go for the pizza here. We came foe happy hour postcocktail festival and this place is Insanely busy. It's a huge place and it's jam packed full. We had a reservation but was put in the back of restaurant which kinda blows since we asked for a view of banff Avenue on reservation on OpenTable. The pastas on the happy hour menu were good. I found the portion to be very tiny though. And if I payed full price...well I would of felt ripped off. With the portion sizes. I definitely would not be coming here to pay full prices bc most everything is $25 plus a dish. The pizza was the star of the visit. Plentiful toppings and a good crust. For the happy hour price. This was a great deal! I would come back foe happy hour but just be warned...service is extremely slow and it's gonna take at least 1-2 hours for a meal where the waitress just takes your order and leaves your food on table...then is impossible to find anytime after that. It took forever to get our bill and pay. But overall of you got the time. Then it's a nice place to visit for happy hour at 430-530pm everyday. read more

Such a lively and trendy restaurant! I really enjoyed my Limone Pasta and would give their food a solid 8/10. Service was excellent as expected. Honestly, no matter where you go in Banff service will always be top notch. read more
It might have been an off nighr for the kitchen, but after so many glowing reviews we expected to be blown away. This was really just about average italian food compared with what we usually get in NYC. That being said we LOVED the gem ceasar salad and foccacia. But we felt it was odd the star of the meal wasn't either of the pastas we ordered. read more

We came here for happy hour as the reviews for this place was pretty high - we were not disappointed. The service was great - super helpful, checked in appropriately, water always filled up. Got extra Parmesan, chili flakes, black pepper for our table. Food: For happy hour (4-5pm or 3-5 pm for Friday), the pizzas and pastas are all $15 and salads start at 8$. Also tons of cheaper drinks available. The main thing is pizza is regular size but pasta and salad is smaller. Having said that, our group still thoguht the pasta was really good. Bolognese pasta - the pasta is fresh and cooked Al dente. Has a really nice tomato and meat sauce 5/5. Carbonara - this was smooth but had a kick of black pepper and pieces of porchetta. Again the pasta was fresh and cooked Al dente. 5/5. Uncle morty's pizza - really interesting pistachio and honey sauce on the pizza with ham. I thought this was the most interesting of flavors - 4.5/5. Prosciutto and arugula - love the salty prosciutto and the fresh arugula on the tomato based pizza. 4/5. Mushroom - has different types of mushroom on a tomato based pizza. 4/5. Caesar salad - comes as a full quarter with cheese, sauce and capers. Really works with the fresh lettuce. 5/5. Price: At happy hour prize, this place is great for an early dinner! read more
High key the best restaurant in Banff and you can take that to the bank!! As I'm writing this review at home, I'm already starting to salivate in remembrance of the meal that I had. FOOD The dishes here are absolutely phenomenal. We had an assortment of appetizers and entrees. We had beef tare tare and it's absolutely the best tasting beef tare tare I've had in a long time. The puff crackers were an interesting take but phenomenal. The Arugula Prosciutto Pizza was on another level. The dry aged prosciutto tasted so much better on this pizza than anything I've tasted. You will not disappoint getting this popular dish. We also had Sausage Pasta as well. Trust me, if you haven't been in heaven with Banff's views, you will with this dish. Absolutely chef's kiss on this dish. So well seasoned and sausage tasted very fresh as well. SERVICE The service here is absolutely amazing as well. Definitely one of the better restaurants I've been to both in Canada and ever in my life. The server were so friendly and guided us to ultimate choose these three fantastic dishes. AMBIANCE the ambiance of this restaurant is pretty dope too. Depends on where you sit but you can basically see the down town banff view or the classic Italian diner view of the restaurant. ALL IN ALL, best restaurant in banff hands down. I'd wish I can bathe in the sausage pasta if they allowed me to read more
We got a chance to visit Banff this past weekend and stumble on to Lupo and to top it we were lucky to be there at their happy hours. Service and food was very nice. The host was super friendly and made us felt at ease. Sorry I didn't catch his name. Our server was courteous. Food was much better than I anticipated. Usually at the tourist town like this food was not too good. Definitely recommended to those who visits Banff to stop by. read more

Being in Banff for a few days, we went here 2x! Coming from another country that has spectacular and high end Italian restaurants, we didn't have high expectations of Lupo in that it could top off the places back home, but surprisingly, Lupo exceeded our expectations and surpassed the places we go to. We made reservations via open table and sat at a nice comfortable high top that included inner storage to put your personal belongings, very neat touch! There is an outdoor rooftop patio option and some indoor window seating. The manager was very welcoming and often interacted with us and other guests. The bartender came and introduced herself, gave us great drink and food recommendations! Our server was very charismatic and offered some unique food suggestions based on what we like. Agnolotti with fresh shaved truffles was our favorite which we returned a few days later for some more! It has a super flavorful and rich cream inside and melts in your mouth! The lasagna dish was wonderful too and the sauce was very tasty. Bechamel sauce was extravagant. Lots of gin based drinks and other unique drink options to choose from. Whenever I return to Banff, this will be the FIRST spot I go to. read more

The food was amazing! The servers were extremely attentive and brought the food at perfect intervals. We ordered a few things off the happy hour menu and if you can get there during happy hour it's worth it. We sat upstairs near the window and the ambiance was intimate and quiet whilst the downstairs was a bit more vibrant and loud with music playing. 10/10 recommend! read more

Lupo came highly recommended by the locals as well as the internet. This was our last dinner stop on our Honeymoon trip to Banff. We made a reservation so they gave us the best seat in the house. It overlooked the mountains and people walking along Wolf Street. It was Negroni Week so we tried the Strawberry Basil Negroni, which as you may know it's an acquired taste and shared a couple entrees. Spicy Lupo Meatballs - 3.5/5 wish it came with a side of bread but it was tasty and moist Fresh Focaccia - 5/5 nice addition to the pasta and meatballs Spicy Rigatoni Alla Vodka - 4/5 the sauce was good and pasta was perfectly al dente. Side of Bruschetta - paired nicely with the pasta and focaccia read more

We had such a great experience at Lupo. Pasta was hand made and you could definitely taste that, perfectly cooked. We always judge a restaurant by their cacio e Pepe and Lupo was delicious! Simple and not overly seasoned. Service was excellent and our waitress was very helpful in choosing what to eat. Very casual restaurant and not what I expected in a tourist town. read more

Must have: Caesar salad, Rosaline (rolled lasagna with ham and fontina). The carbonara was not what we expected, not great. We sat at an outdoor table which got a bit chilly by 7 pm but otherwise is ideal (plus we got seated with no reservation). Inside of the restaurant looks nice too. Caesar is truly a must have, the best I have ever tried and I make homemade Caesar weekly. If you like cheese... a lot... Rosaline is also a must. So good, would go again! read more

Had a really great experience at this place - from the food to our server, I will definitely be back when I'm in town again! All pasta is made in house and you can taste it. The agnolotti is seriously one of the dreamiest pasta dishes I've ever had. I'm salivating just thinking about it. Sicilian kiss was good - a bit sweeter than I hoped for, but if that's your thing then def try it. Margerhita was great. Pizza dough is delicious. I would've opted for something a little more out of the ordinary but my partner wanted it Ceased salad was solid. Lemon tart was very tasty. We came for happy hour - they offer select pastas and nose pizzas for $16. Great time to come check this place out. read more

We ordered to go...The food was very good, but extremely overpriced! Our salad was $22.50 and this is a picture of how tiny it was. I couldn't believe it when I pulled it out. The pizza was tiny too and $30. We paid over $60 and it was enough for one person. Would not go back! read more

Very busy place and was on the waitlist for an hour. Peach bellini was good, tasted like a sorbet. The beef tartare appetizer was just okay. After our appetizer and drinks, we waited for over 40 minutes for our pastas. They were all extremely disappointing and dry, as if they've been left out for too long. Carbonara had no flavor, extremely plain, and not even salty by the slightest. The only redeeming factor about this place was the peach bellini and our server who was extremely nice and gave us a 25% discount for how atrocious the food was. Otherwise, I would've given this place 1 star. Extremely overrated and a waste of money. Even though the pictures of the pasta look nice at a glance, you can see how dry and the extreme lack of sauce for both the spaghetti and linguine. read more

Great place right in the heart of Banff. Located on second floor with a lovely patio. We went during happy hour , which is from 4-5 Saturday-Thursday and 3-5 on Fridays. We liked it so much that we came back on our way from Jasper to Calgary airport . Our first visit was one week ago and Christine was our server. She was super professional, but at the same time, very interactive and informative. She made sure we had everything we needed. The pasta is made in house and everything was so fresh and delicious , that I cannot say one was better that the other . We had bolognese, carbonara, and Cacio e Pepe. In addition we had a mushroom pizza to share. There is plenty of alcoholic beverage to choose from . Today, Friday, there was a DJ, but we could still carry on a conversation. There is street parking and also a public garage close by. Gender neutral washroom as well. For sure, Lupo is a must when visiting Banff. read more
