We came here for our afternoon beverages while vacationing in Canmore. A&W is known as a root beer in the USA. In Canada, it is more like a fast food burger joint. Service was typical of a fast food restaurant. My wife liked their strawberry smoothie. I got their root beer shake. Both their smoothie and root beer shake were satisfying. I always want a root beer here and forget that they are a burger joint.

This is the Canadian version of Whatburgers; it's open late and that's the advantage it has over many of the food spots in the area. The food is decent enough for what it is; the poutine was actually edible so you need to give that a 3/5. The burgers aren't terrible either; honestly around a Wendy's/ Whataburger level.

I came in with low expectations thinking this was going to be an ordinary fast food chain, but boy was I wrong!! Everything was served fresh. The fries, the veggies, the burgers... they were all so good. The fries and onion rings were crispy and served piping hot. The sweet potato fries are a delight. The teen burger was our fav. The patty was juicy, and the buns were toasted nicely. The root beer was crisp and refreshing. They also have a sugar free root beer option, and it actually tastes legit. We've already made two visits and will most likely be back again lol. Service is quick. We are from Texas, so the place gives off Whataburger vibes, but a much better version.

A&W is a Canadian-owned company. It's #1 fast food in Canada, so we have to try it once. Full disclosure - I'm not a big fan of fast food chains. There is a drive-thru at this location. We decided to go inside to order and take our time looking at the menu. It's your typical fast food with burgers, fries, sides and sugary sodas. I think the root beer float or slushy is their popular item. It was super sweet as I had expected. We all had the "Uncle" with bacon, lettuce, tomato and cheese. The beef patty was juicy but lacking sauce. The fixings were soggy by the time we got back to the house, which was only 5 minutes drive. The sweet potatoes fries was the best out of all with chipotle mayo on the side. The onion rings was too doughy and fell apart as soon as you take a bite. I wish I had taken photos of the food.

They uniquely do a 72 hour dough rise for the pizza. Create a very airy and light focaccia style pizza crust. I had the elk sausage and roasted kale pizza. I found the pizza very good, very rich due to the type of cheeses they used ....however I found out...I don't like kale - so I picked it off. Kathy enjoyed the tuna melt, with waffle fries. It was yummy. The server was quick, guided us through some suggestions, and our order was out reasonably quickly. Banff gets busy in the afternoon. We arrive just before the rush at 2 PM. If you're looking for good food and a good beer, three beers brewery is a good choice. Asfoor value a bit on the higher side.... I'd use 3 ($$$) for two of us. Kid, friendly yes, clean bathrooms, good waiter-staff. Three Bears gets a two thumbs up for Banff Canada.

Had a nice ambience with plenty of seating inside and outside. However we found it was a little chilly inside the restaurant, especially near the windows where we were seated. The staff was friendly, but we found that service was a little slow even though it was not busy at the time of our visit. We appreciated the variety of breakfast items. It was definitely catered to international visitors. However, the food itself tasted just average. We ordered the Eggs Benedict with avocado and tomato, pancakes, French toast, and the omurice. The eggs Benedict came out cold, the omurice needed some additional ingredients for flavoring, and the pancakes and French toast came out dry. They charged us extra for a little tablespoon of extra maple syrup. The only tasty item was the smashed potatoes. Overall, would not recommend this place. It didn't seem like the price matched the quality of the food or the service.

It's a great spot if you're looking for a mix of international and Western flavors. Reservations can be made directly from their homepage via TouchBistro. There are about 10 spots available in the private parking lot. While it was too cold to enjoy the patio during our visit, outdoor dining is available in warmer weather, and the mountain views from the restaurant are stunning. FOOD: 1. Firecracker Calamari (3/5) - Crispy calamari with sautéed peppers, soy, and sesame. Unfortunately, this appetizer had more side ingredients than actual calamari. It's shareable between 3-4 people, but I wouldn't order it again. 2. Canmore Pasta Bison Ravioli (3/5) - Served with a creamy au jus sauce, sautéed mushrooms, and parmesan. I didn't try this one personally, but those who did said it was just "OK." It comes with one slice of garlic toast. 3. Chicken Nirvana (4/5) - A coconut-based gravy with ginger, green chili, curry leaves, basmati rice, and Kerala parotta. The curry was a bit watery for my taste, and I wished the spices were more pronounced. That said, the parotta was nicely crisp -- always a win. 4. Alberta Beef Short Ribs (3/5) - Served with vegetables and gravy. I had a few bites and liked it, but something felt like it was missing -- I couldn't quite put my finger on what. 5. Atlantic Salmon (5/5) - Paired with a tarragon leek lemon emulsion and vegetables. I rarely order salmon at non-Japanese restaurants, but this was an exception. The salmon was perfectly cooked -- not dry at all -- and the emulsion brought everything together beautifully. The service was OK. The server was pleasant, and our drinks never touched the bottom. However, we had an early dinner time, and they were out of two items on the menu. Would I come back? Maybe. I'll explore other places before coming back.
