1857 El Camino Real Burlingame, CA 94010 (Burlingame Plaza Shopping Center) I had a fair experience at this Subway in Burlingame. I was there on a Saturday evening after visiting a family member in the hospital nearby. I walked into a empty restaurant at around 7pm, and saw one worker behind the counter making a sandwich. He greeted me, and asked me to take my time and look over the menu. I ordered a Philly Sandwich from the Subway Series menu, foot long, on toasted Italian bread. While the sandwich artist* was making my order, he got interrupted by food delivery drivers picking up orders. I guess he was alone in the restaurant, as no one came out to help. He asked me what other toppings/ condiments I wanted to add, and any sauces or dressings. BTW, they should allow you to add or remove items on the sandwich. I've been to another Subway (in Hayward) where they didn't allow added items. I paid with a reloaded Subway gift card, and dropped a tip in the jar. How was the sandwich? It looked bigger in the restaurant. I get it outside and it looked smaller, almost like baguette sandwich. Not much meat or anything else. That's probably why places like Ike's Sandwiches and Cheese Steak Shop are so popular. If you're willing to pay $13-16 for a better sandwich, then try those places. Free Parking in shopping center lot. Restaurant was clean and neat. No music. I didn't use the restroom. ----------------------------- * What's a sandwich artist? In the food service industry, a sandwich artist is a person who makes a sandwich as the customer requests.

Just know the coupons you get in the mail are not valid at this location, and that the workers ask for a tip when paying with a credit card.

Remember the scene when Ego the food critic took his first bite of the ratatouille and he was transported back in time to when his mother first made it for him, and it was so comforting? Quite literally food for the soul.! That's what these donuts do for me! Cliché? Maybe. But this is very real for me.and maybe someone else can relate. I can recall waking up early mornings with my grandfather and going to the donut shop pulling apart my fluffy cloud, donut enjoying great conversation with him while he sipped his coffee. No crazy select your own fillings or cereal toppings, just a classic well made donut! Happy Donuts has very well executed donuts. The glaze complements the donut, but lets the yeasty chew remain the star of the show! When you make a good doughnut, you don't have to pile on toppings to disguise the fact that your dough is mediocre. I'm quite literally obsessed with these donuts. They're very well could be better donuts in the area, but I'm already hooked on Happy Donuts! The ladies behind the counter have always been so kind and I never leave without a great laugh to accompany my sweet treats! Oh! And if you stay up partying too late and dragging in the morning, just order their Vietnamese coffee! It is fire and gives you the surge of energy you need

The interior looks like a donut shop but their offerings are quite solid. I have tried their Turkey, egg, and cheese on a bagel and I devoured it within minutes. I've alos had a sampling over their donuts over the years and they have been fresh, not oily, and nicely chewy and moist. The family that runs this shop are friendly and courteous. The era of family run businesses are struggling. It's good to see the community support such a staple in Burlingame.
