we've been to several subway restaurants. some are alright, some are excellent. this is one of the excellent locations. so good, we ate here twice during our 7-day stay in town. each sandwich was perfection. the bread was fresh, the ingredients were fresh. the staff was friendly and eager to please.
since posting the above review nine months ago, things have changed...subway is such a predictable franchise, in a good way. you always know what you're gonna get. good quality ingredients and there are usually no surprises. we do a fair amount of traveling on short to moderate roadtrips and many times will stop at a subway for lunch or a light dinner because we like them so well. we stopped in the brookings subway yesterday on our way home from one such roadtrip for an early and light dinner. we had subscribed to the subway 'freshbuzz' to keep up with the promotions and specials. one of the promotions i received was for a free 6-inch sub with the purchase of a 30-oz drink. i told the gal at the counter and showed her the promotion on my smartphone. she didn't know anything about it, said something about they don't always accept such offers, didn't know how to redeem the offer or what to tell me and made no offer to find out. we were left no option but to forget about that promotion along with another hubby had on HIS phone. by the time our sandwiches were made, i realized she was probably new because she didn't do a 'proper' job adding the right amount of ingredients to our sandwiches. but by that time, we were so disgusted, we decided not to go ahead with the purchase of a subway card, as we had plannned, and will probably re-think stopping at this subway in the future. it was obvious that the store manager had not fully trained elizabeth in promotions, customer service or the proper way to assemble sandwiches. nor had the manager trained the other gal who was not able to help elizabeth. all in all, not a way to run a business. the franchise owner should take another look at the employee training aspect of this location. read more
