Clam Chowder bread bowl

The food was really good! Service was okay, server could've been a little nicer honestly but wasn't rude either. The show stopper for us was the clam chowder. The taste was really good!

Honestly had a blast here. Very good service with amazing recommendations. I love the overall ambiance of the restaurant right next to the ocean. The chatter of all the older gentlemen and gentlewomen. The fish and chips are splendid and my favorite item. The clam chowder... DELICIOUS but of course it is!! The fries were also such good quality tenders. The alcoholic drink was absolutely so delicious too!!

My third review in so many years because I am literally running out of the new restaurant to review. Since we played golf in freezing weather, we wanted to warm up before trying out nearby restaurants and Azalea's annual 3 million lighting ceremony tonight. The service and tasty cocktails were amazing and thick, starchy Clam Chowder was the perfect way to get warm. The craft hazy IPA was served chilled and sweet. Fill it to the brim yes sir!

(Updated to show pictures) Nice day down in Brookings, we had lunch at Fat Irish Pub down by the harbor. Cute and cozy little place, we chose to sit outside so we could bring Sophie on the patio with us. We split the Ruben, it was packed with house-cured corned beef, swiss, sauerkraut & a delicious handcrafted Louie dressing. Grilled to melty perfection on marbled rye. I ate mine with a side of clam chowder and the man opted for their wedge cut fries. I washed mine down with a local apple cider they had on tap and I can't remember what Pinky had. It was all very tasty and of course Sophie made friends with everyone on the patio.

Tartar sauce. It's what they give for 2 large pieces of fish. I ordered 4, and the owner refused to give me an additional condiment

I ordered a large 4 piece fish and chips. When I got back to the hotel, I realized that there was a tiny container of tartar sauce, which might be enough for 2 pieces. I politely drove back to the restaurant and the owner told me I had to pay extra for an additional tartar sauce. I said that is maybe enough for 2, and he just rudely looked at me and basically said I had to pay. Wow! It's a condiment and it's the principal of the matter.

Dear Fat Irish Kitchen and Pub, THESE are fish tacos! Not what your served when we were there recently. Please improve.

Famous and delicious Bloody Mary!

Bad service and small potions for their soups. They also charge you an extra $ to order and take food to-go.

Party of three and went in to celebrate a birthday. We ordered: 1 oyster shooter, 1 crispy oyster appetizer, 1 patty melt, 1 cheeseburger basket, and 1 fish & chips. She walked away and we had to call her back to order drinks. The oyster shooter came out quickly. It was huge! We also saw another guest with a whole crab. We then realized that there was a seasonal crab menu. Our server never told us about the special menu. I would have easily ordered the whole crab or seafood tower (I forget what it's called but it had scallops, crab, sirloin, etc.). Our meals came out, patty melt, cheeseburger, fish and chips, and crispy oyster appetizer. Wait...what? Why didn't the crispy oyster come out with the shooter? Oh...because our server gave us a meal instead of the appetizer since it had a pile of French fries with it and we were charged for it! Overall, the meals were good. Our daughter enjoyed her patty melt. My crispy oysters and fish and chips were OK, nothing to write home about. Also, the server did not ask how I wanted my fish and chips since the menu offers them deep fried or grilled. They came deep fried. Either way is fine with me but if there is an option, the server should know that and ask. After our meals, we ordered two slices of brown butter cake and instead were served two pieces of mile high chocolate cake. At this point, it was useless to complain to the unattentive server. Probably won't go back.

First place we tried when we got to Brookings…read more Great food and service. Came here with the family. We got 2 pizzas that were shareable sizes. We got a margherita and all meat. Both really good and made in their stone oven. We also got the calmari for appetizers. Calamari cooked perfectly, not rubbery. Light batter, crispy, and seasoned really well that gave it great flavor. Others in the group ordered a clam chowder bread bowl, chicken Parmesan, fish & chips and shrimp & chips. The overall consensus was good. Casual atmosphere and perfect location. It's at the boardwalk near an arcade. During the day, there's also ice cream and coffee nearby. Couldn't get any pictures.

We came down to Brookings to take care of some business and decided to stop in for lunch and a drink afterwards. We weren't especially hungry so we ordered our usual favorites (clam chowder for me and steamer clams for the fellow) that combo usually helps us decide whether or not we want to return, without breaking the bank on a new spot. Our server was delightful, she was kind and attentive without being overbearing. Our order took a little longer than expected for what we ordered but we didn't mind, we had some nice blackberry cider they had on tap to tide us over. I was a little disappointed when our meals came out and I didn't get a slice of bread with my bowl of clam chowder like the fellow did with his steamers, but we were able to buy a half batard for $5 and that was perfect for us to split. It came out warm with a side of butter and complimented the chowder much nicer than the oyster crackers they originally brought out would have. In fact I recommend getting the bread if you order the chowder, it almost stole the show. The chowder was delicious, could've been warmer but still very tasty, the potatoes were cut super thin, and the clams were plump and tender and tasted fresh, they did add bacon but not in overwhelming amounts, and I thought it was spiced perfectly. I only added a few shakes of red pepper flakes to finish it. The fellow thought his steamer clams/mussels were marvelous, with a very flavorful broth, and he loved the fact that he was allowed to mix them. They made a good first impression on us, we will definitely be returning for dinner and ordering a couple of pizzas and perhaps a salad as well. Who knows, they may prove to be one of our new favorite spots.

Do yourself a favor and try any of the Superfly specials with it, they'll surprise you. They do have a food menu, but it's a martini bar first and restaurant second. The food was pretty decent, but the knife work, plating and ratios showed the experience behind the stove. I was pleasantly surprised when I was told I could order fish tacos even though it wasn't on the menu. I love a good grilled fish taco so I went for it. The fish was perfectly cooked and seasoned well, the green and orange sauces were good if a little too mild, and the tortillas were the right style but not grilled quite enough. Also, there was very little cilantro or onion and almost no cabbage so they weren't as filling as I would have liked. My wife had the Katsu Chicken Salad. It arrived plated like it was deconstructed: the katsu on a bed of lettuce greens with very thick slices of vegetables around around the plate and the dressing on the side. It was odd, clunky and the katsu was under seasoned. The peanut dressing was divine though, my wife said she could have drank that like milk. There are some other dishes I'd like to try and their drinks were fantastic so we'll definitely try them again.

They open at 11am and we came before 11:30 and there was only 1 other couple seated. The waitress was very polite and friendly. We were seated quickly, given menus and water. One lady in our group can't eat gluten and has a few other allergies so she ask if she could eat the "soup of the day". Our waitress replied "I'm pretty sure". My friend asked if she was sure or pretty sure. She said she would check but never came back. Then the weird part happened. We had placed our orders, the other tables were now full, but nobody had food, except that one party that arrived before us. We assume there was some problem in the kitchen but she never came back to explain or apologize for the very long wait. Not to us, or anyone. When she eventually brought the food out, there was no apology or acknowledgement for the long wait. And she brought my friend a salad instead of the soup which she had inquired about. She did explain that she couldn't get an answer to her allergy question so she wanted to be safe. But wouldn't you tell the customer before just bringing the food? Anyway the food was all delicious!! I ordered the halibut sliders which were cooked perfectly. The "soup of the day" was okay but needed salt and pepper, which we requested. They brought us 2 pepper shakers, no salt. My wife ordered the Agedashi Tofu & Pork Gyozas and I had a couple of rolls, the spicy Rouge and a plain Jane salmon, avocado and cucumber roll. Everything was fantastic. The fish was super fresh, the tofu cooked perfectly and the gyoza sauce tangy and yummy. We only had a couple of small issues, more personal preferences really. 1 - my wife enjoyed the tofu, but the dish is described as having an agedashi broth but really it was more of a thicker style sauce smeared on the plate the tofu was placed on. It didn't really have a true broth. 2 - the habanero marmalade was not spicy. The roll was described as a spicy roll, but the marmalade was sweet. Unfortunately, the jalapeños were sweet as well. I know they can't control capsaicin in peppers, but that marmalade needs way more habanero. It would be WONDRFUL on toast though! Note: looking at their menu now they have updated this roll to replace the marmalade with a "tangy sesame". I look forward to trying this to see the difference. The place was super busy when I arrived there were people waiting outside, which is always a good sign but since I was dining solo, I got seated right away with no wait at all. The atmosphere inside is warm, cozy, and welcoming, with really cool décor featuring cars and car photos that give the restaurant personality and a fun, nostalgic vibe. It feels comfortable rather than fancy, the kind of place where you can relax, sip your coffee, and enjoy your food without feeling rushed. I ordered the shrimp and Swiss cheese omelette with jalapeño, and it was absolutely delicious. Everything tasted fresh, well-seasoned, and perfectly cooked. The portion was generous, and it came out piping hot and surprisingly fast considering how busy they were. The coffee was amazing too rich, fresh, and exactly what you want with a hearty breakfast. What really stood out was the service. The servers were attentive, friendly, and on top of everything despite the crowd. They made sure coffee stayed filled, checked in at the right moments, and kept things moving smoothly without making it feel rushed or chaotic. Another big plus: the prices are very reasonable, especially for the quality and portion sizes. It's rare to find a place that balances great food, fast service, cozy ambiance, and affordability this well. Overall, I'd easily rate it around 4.5 stars.
