My female cousin just turned 21 and we decided to go here. Visiting for the week. Once we got in. Environment seemed normal, as were playing pool, this older man approached us and we had to tell him to back off because we felt he was harassing my cousin. If you like karaoke and down to earth places this seedy bar is the place for you. Pool and VP, and a smoking area in the back that is really spacious. There is the cutest little pitty running around in the back yard patio. "Gunner" is his name. I love dogs and it literally made my night, especially since I recently lost my dog. I LOVE this place. Honestly this place is great when Shavonne works, she is amazing, friendly, so hardworking, personable and sweet. Can't be in Oregon with out stopping for her famously delicious chili totally worth the drive!!! I have never seen a more hard working person in my life! This woman is incredible! We usually love coming here it's one of the go to places for us while we are in Brookings. However, today, we had a bad experience where my service dog was denied. I went to use the ladies room and my dog followed and laid at the door per her training and the bartender happened to be in the next stall and questioned me. When I said I don't carry her paperwork she replied with "I have a health inspector here so" and I was caught so off guard I offered to put her in the car. Legally she is not allowed to request documentation on my dog. I have thoroughly enjoyed all my other visits, so it's unfortunate that this situation has spoiled my outlook on this establishment. This review isn't meant to put a bad taste in peoples mouths about visiting this location we would have given it 5 stars on a different day however I felt the need to warn other service animal users about my experience. read more

So, at 4:30pm, 4th of July day, I finally get off work, head to the 101 Bar and Grill. I'd skipped lunch, due to the half day of work, so I was extremely hungry, and, being a diabetic to boot, I was in need of food. I was in line at the bar for 15 mins. There was only 1 bartender and she was slammed! Cooking and tending patrons, cleaning after herself and taking care of the lottery players. This lady had her hands full. So, I'm not being unsympathetic, however, when it came to me, she asked "what do you want"? I responded, "may I have a menu "? And her response was "you know what? No, I'm not doing it anymore, I'm done Cooking. I've had it, I've been just slammed since I got here. And I'm just not doing it anymore tonight."!!! Shocked?? You could say that! I'll never go to that bar ever again! I felt humiliated, and I left in tears., after hearing a rude remark from the bar counter, "she's big enough, she's not gonna starve and it looks to me like she can stand to miss a meal or 2"..I weigh 240 lbs. but I have big bones and muscle and I'm just big. Teal was the barkeep. she made a fantastic BLT with O Rings and both were great. very friendly barkeep very pretty too I might add although that ain't why I write the review. while I was there one fella did well on lottery and bought me a beer. that was very small town like. I see most people on here complaining about this bar being "too dark"! The reason why it's so dark is because it's a bar where most of the crowd goes after working all day, or they just want to have a drink or 2, and wants to relax before going home.....There is karaoke Tuesday's, Wednesday's and Sunday nights here with Bryon! The food is great, the bartender's are awesome, the K/J is awesome too! I happen to love this place and I will continue to go to 101 Bar and Grill for however long I am around! read more

Once we walked into this bar it was stifling hot and I didn't feel even the slightest bit of air. I don't know how the employees can stand it but they didn't complain when we mentioned the heat and we only stayed for one quick drink. We were told that they have a rowdy crowd at night but since we were there in the early afternoon, we can't confirm that. read more

If you don't suffer from depression and want to experience what it is like, go on down to the 101 Bar & Grill. It is dark, dirty and depressing. While I did not eat at the 101, I would highly discourage anyone from eating there. It is basically a "Drinking Man's Bar". No foo-foo drinks, no nice glass of chardonnay. I have frequented this bar for a while and when the owner Ray was there it was great, and so much fun. Good drinks, music an all around great experience. Even on those cold nights he had the outside heaters blazing, super cozy and nice! I am not sure when however it's apparent someone else purchased &/or running the bar and they don't understand what it takes to keep this place running and encourage people to return! This past weekend my friend and I came to have some drinks and hang out and I had the worst experience. Yes it's a bar! Yes people are drinking, so sometimes your mind may not be the most clear but I do know when the owner wiped the bar down and all the ice, water ETC came my way and soaked my jeans. I also know what sort of drink and size I was drinking all night and when the bartender started getting upset because I wasn't going along with her view of things maybe she needs to not be customer facing or work here at all. Maybe she needs to not argue with THE CUSTOMER!! No one should feel made fun of or not welcome... I also know that when it's 40 something degrees outside it's cold so I asked to turn on the outside heaters they are broke!!!... This wouldn't have flied with the previous owner and it's sad this new guy is okay with it. I have asked others and I am not the only one feeling this way about the 101 Bar & Grill. It's really sad since people use to drive from Crescent City to come here. It use to be a fun place; I will not be returning since it's apparent the owner just ISN'T INTO IT and I'm not willing to waste my money or be treated like this; alcohol or not it's WRONG!!!
