Alphonse got my rather difficult special order exactly right. Kudos. And thanks. Glad there's a Dominos in the area.

Fat Cat Pizza - Momma Kitty personal size pizza

Best thin crust tavern style pizza we've had in a long time, in a very unexpected location…read more My wife, her mom, and I had just crossed the Oregon-California border into Oregon and used the nearby Dollar Tree in Brookings to be our end point on our fourth day Internet access had been spotty throughout our trip through Big Sur and then Redwood parks, so used a combination of Google maps and Yelp to find nearby businesses, just for fun. Fat Cat showed up with high ratings. None of us were particularly hungry, but their ratings for thin-crust pizza piqued my interest, so we adjusted our plans and walked in. There was one employee (Ian) working on this mid afternoon time on hump day, so had to get his attention while he was working in the back. You place and pay for your order first, so ordered a medium thin crust pineapple/ham ($15). Not knowing what to expect, I asked if the pizza crust could be made well done. We sat down at the fast food booths, and didn't have to wait long. When the pizza came, all of us knew immediately by the sight and smell that it was going to be great. The crust was the perfect thinness, and the toppings were generous. Our plan was to sample some of it and then take the rest back, but the three of us ended eating every single piece. It was that good. We learned a bit more about the business from Ian. It used to be a franchise pizza joint, but the owner decided to stop being a franchisee, and create a local name. 'Gato Gordo' was thrown out as an early name, with the final name being chosen as the winner from an early Christmas party secret Santa gift. The pizza crust is consistently made by a dough sheeter at a low thinness setting. This might be sacrilegious, but I think I prefer this way vs the hand tossed NY style that is way more prevalent (and way more expensive).

Stopped in at Fat Cat Pizza off Hwy 101 in Brookings and it was a standout. Specialty pies with the cat names (Meowgarita, Siamese Sriracha, Chicken Bacon Ranch, Philly Cheesesteak) are the way to go if you don't want a plain build-your-own. Staff were friendly and quick, food came out hot, and the cat decorations make the place feel local instead of generic. Easy stop if you're driving the coast. Would recommend and would come back.

Our first time staying at Brookings Oregon and our first night we ordered in from Catalyst seafood…read more Let me just say- I wish I took photos because the food we ordered was DELICIOUS! Hubby ordered fish and chips and popcorn shrimp. I ordered the breadbowl. Hubby said his food was amazing. My chowder in the breadbowl was also delicious. The bread was toasted just right- the potatoes inside the chowder were diced so it felt they kinda melted in your mouth. The clams were really delicious too! Service is hard for me to gauge but honestly I think it's pretty good since they packed everything with care! Ambience I can't answer but I will have to visit this place before we head out to SoCal!

First time here. Did not have a good experience and emailed the owner twice but never got a reply…read more No reason to return if the owner can't provide reliable customer service which is identical to what we experienced with our server. Party of three and went in to celebrate a birthday. We ordered: 1 oyster shooter, 1 crispy oyster appetizer, 1 patty melt, 1 cheeseburger basket, and 1 fish & chips. She walked away and we had to call her back to order drinks. The oyster shooter came out quickly. It was huge! We also saw another guest with a whole crab. We then realized that there was a seasonal crab menu. Our server never told us about the special menu. I would have easily ordered the whole crab or seafood tower (I forget what it's called but it had scallops, crab, sirloin, etc.). Our meals came out, patty melt, cheeseburger, fish and chips, and crispy oyster appetizer. Wait...what? Why didn't the crispy oyster come out with the shooter? Oh...because our server gave us a meal instead of the appetizer since it had a pile of French fries with it and we were charged for it! Overall, the meals were good. Our daughter enjoyed her patty melt. My crispy oysters and fish and chips were OK, nothing to write home about. Also, the server did not ask how I wanted my fish and chips since the menu offers them deep fried or grilled. They came deep fried. Either way is fine with me but if there is an option, the server should know that and ask. After our meals, we ordered two slices of brown butter cake and instead were served two pieces of mile high chocolate cake. At this point, it was useless to complain to the unattentive server. Probably won't go back.
