This review is for the Anderson CA location. Poor Quality and Quantity, stale bread, over priced of what you get. Safeway a few doors down makes a better quality product for $9.00 or even Subway around the corner (never thought I would say that about Subway). Worst purchased Sandwich of my life to be honest and the Manager didn't really care. All she did was try to fluff it ofjustify that everything was done correctly. She did offer to provide a replacement Sandwich. Umm, yeah, no thank you cause my first impression and get said, umm, no thank you! Note I will never be a future Customer. read more

Visited this place on July 5th around 5:30pm: 1) Low value for money. Food was a bit pricier than you'd expect. 2) Both the staff members looked pretty inexperienced, unknowledgeable and clumsy. 3) We asked details about a 'pizza sandwich' option that was displayed on their menu. The lady (who was making the sandwiches) didn't know about it and went to ask about it from her male colleague. 4) The lady asked me my choice of bread for my footlong sandwich. After I told my first choice, she realized that the specific bread was over. Then she found out that the second bread I chose also had only 4 inch pieces remaining. So, she had to go with my third preference. 5) Unlike Subway, the ingredients that were being put in the sandwich were not on display, so I couldn't see the toppings before selecting them. 6) The price for the sandwich on the bill was higher than what was displayed on their menu. When asked about it, the guy at the register was surprised/confused himself, but later said he can't do anything about it. Started giving excuses like the menu is from the 90's. He became kind of rude/disrespectful at this moment, and started attending to other guests ignoring my question. Neither did I get my money back, nor he made me talk to any supervisor for this issue. read more

Stopped in Redding for lunch and found Subarama tucked away in a little strip mall next to an all you can eat joint. Enter and are pleased to see open tables to eat inside the restaurant. Wait in line to order (it was a bit of a wait) and I order one of their specials, turkey, bacon, avocado on a white roll with most of the toppings. My wife ask if the macaroni salad has meat in it and the person serving us says yes. She orders that and we include 2 small fountain drinks. As my sandwich is being constructed our person informs me the avocados are really hard and suggests that I have on the side or go without. I decide to go without but get charged as if the avocados were on the sandwich. No big, everyone is struggling and some much more than me. Take our lunch and cups and head to an open table. My wife gets us some diet dr. pepper from the fountain in our small cups that set me back almost $5.00. Our fault for ordering fountain drinks in COVID times - the taste is somewhat off like the fountain syrup has not been changed. Our food: my wife's mac salad does not have meat in it. It is ok, but turns out to be noodles and veg + dressing. My sandwich is a decent size, lacks avocado and the bread seems somewhat stale, it has that dried out taste. Turkey is ok but nothing that would have us get off the 5 and have lunch here in the future. We might have caught Subarama on a bad day. Considering the good from the bad I grant them 3 stars. This place is great! If you want a good, no-frills sandwich, this is your place. The bread is baked in-house, as is everything. The portions are generous and the ingredients are quality. I order the 4", cause the 8" can be two meals. Everything is good, so don't shy away. Always get a a cookie or brownie, tastes like homemade, not that typical bland bakery type of place. read more

Life savers!! Had a bumper emergency while on the road, luckily found Redding Trailer Center for an awesome fix. While waiting, the Sub truck showed up to make a delivery, I asked if only delivery or open for business, she said, "Sure, we can make you a sandwich!" Bless their hearts! I really wanted to give them 5 stars for GREAT sandwiches. The Roast Beef and Cheddar was excellent, and the Italian a delight. Prices were fair and easy access from the Cypress Exit on I-5. ATTITUDE was a problem. I was on the road trying to make good time, and got the Italian to eat and drive. Someone had sliced the Pepperoni with the casing still on, so when I took a bite it pulled all the filling out onto my lap. That means pull over and try to reassemble the sandwich and change shirt and pants next rest stop. I went back two days later for another great tasting sandwich and mentioned the Pepperoni thing to the woman who seemed to be in charge. BOOM, she got rather testy. It was as if I had done something wrong in telling her. I did also wonder about the salads being in a really dark refrigerator case and uncovered. They were enough of a mystery that I would never try them. If you don't let me see what I am about to eat, I will be suspicious. I AM NOT saying there was anything wrong with the salads, just that they were hidden in a dark place. read more

Dropped in on our way through town and had a great lunch. We ordered the daily special - 4" sandwich, chips and a drink for $9.99. Service was great! The staff was very friendly and helpful, the inside was very clean and the food was very good. Great place to stop for a quick lunch. read more

Always a great sandwich. Hours have changed only open till 5pm. The only issue I had was they were under staffed. Normally there is usually 3-4 employees working today only 2 trying to cover the phone orders and current customers. Jaclynn our sandwich technician did an excellent job with suggestions and quality on my sandwich due to the after Holiday shortage of meats. We will be back and hopefully with more of a crew to take care of the delay. read more

I have some family in this area, so have had a little time to go exploring for non-fast food eating options.This place was a hidden gem. I would much rather support a locally owned shop than McD's any day! We, and I say we as in my "crew" of course. I think this day the crew was about 12 deep. I just like to have a large posse of peeps, yo. I'm a HUGE sandwich fan & was SO hungry, I couldn't wait to get in here. There was only two people working so I think we may have set them back a tad bit. The service was friendly and a little slow, but, again, we DID have a large number of dubious crew members, so that is understandable. The wait was worth the end product, fo shizzle. They have classic sub sandwiches, everyone in the posse was pleased with their choice. All had a good meat to condiment & bread ratio. They have a pretty big seating area so we were able to pull tables together and sit comfortably. I was really happy with my sandwich and will be back again on our next visit! read more

It's rare that I would give a sandwich spot five stars because, well, it's a sandwich for the love of God. How hard could that be? Well, it's harder than it looks because not everyone can get it right. Cue Subarama for the win in Redding (and the surrounding areas). I'm living the "no-carb" life right now (subject to change at any moment), but it hasn't been easy to find places that are accommodating. I casually asked if they served lettuce wraps (but I was content with a salad) and immediately they said "YES!". Which was beyond awesome. So they bring out the fresh romaine, give it a rinse and a dry and then start making a thing of beauty. They are generous with their fresh toppings, they are super polite and kind. Why isn't this place packed nonstop? It's local, clean, delicious and deserves your patronage. I'm remiss that I didn't post this last week (yep, I've been two Saturdays in a row because it's THAT good), but here it is. My picture just shows one lettuce wrap, there was another one but I devoured it too quickly to get it in the photo shoot. The worst place I ever eat in US First of all customer service is rude, Sand witches they use are not good , they are super thick and even if u ask to toast also they don't do. The lady who serves sandwich shouts like anything instead of being polite , just for one sandwich even though no line they will take hell lot of time I will never go to this Subarama anywhere In US if they have any branches , it sounds like sub way so with lil hope we went to this place as there is no subway near, better go to other places which are closer. read more

I absolutely LOVE this place. If you're looking for a quality REAL sub sandwich, ditch Togo's and Subway, go to Subarama. They aren't necessarily the friendliest there, but I feel the quality of the sandwich I receive overrules that. Food- Superior to any other chain sandwich shop. They are on the same level as Mr. Pickles.... Which is a foodgasm and I'm not even a foodie!!! I've been hesitant to write this review as I generally enjoy the food here and frequent this restaurant due to that fact. Unfortunately, I'm not sure the owner has any interest in maintaining quality. It seems that each time I go, I encounter worse service than the last. The staff is extremely slow (extremely frustrating), even when no other customers are present. They don't appear to be adequately trained and are sloppy/careless in their assembly of sandwiches. Additionally, the past few times I've been, they have been out of basic ingredients. Today they were out of lettuce, pastrami, meatballs, sourdough bread and at least three of the soda selections. That is just what I'm aware of from either ordering it myself or overhearing subsequent orders. I mean, come on... if your out of lettuce go to the grocery store and buy a couple of heads to get you through until your next order arrives. If your out of sourdough, which you've been the last three occasions I visited, make some more and be sure to have adequate available to complete the business day. The place is generally also dirty and very dated, could definitely use a facelift and deep cleaning. I understand supply and staffing issues, but if this was my business I would be making some serious changes. Unfortunately, for now, I'm going to seek other food until they can improve. read more

While the food is good it's not fantastic and it's very over priced. The portions are just average compared to other sun shops in the area. My son wanted something other than ham or pb and j. No substitute on kids choices. Ok so I ordered him the smallest 4" pepperoni sandwich I could. He loves veggies and I was surprised only lettuce tomato and pickle is included. I had to pay extra for olive and bell pepper.. I would have got him more veggies but it already cost me $6.29 for small sandwich and another $1.50 for chips. No extras for me as a 6" would be well over 7$ at that point. Seems wrong to nickle and dime over cheap options like olives. I can go to any other shop in town for cheaper with more ingredients! read more

I wanted to like this place since there aren't many good sandwich places in Redding. Unfortunately the sandwich had no taste, and the ingredients including the bread did not seem fresh. The meat in the display case looked gross. The prices were also sky high. I wish Redding had a Port of Subs. Not the best sandwhich shop in town, but really good if you know what to order. Their shakes are hands down nasty. Their breakfast food is something that you could get out of the frozen section at a grocery store. But, besides that--they make an awesome pulled pork w/green chilli on garlic bread sandwhich and the turkey is my favorite! I LOVE the 8" option...that sets them apart from the rest. Your sandwhich is pretty much the size of your bread no matter where you eat and Subarama has big bread. :o) I've had bad service there once...for the most part the people are great; the owner is friendly; they support local girl scouts. This place has decent sandwiches and the ladies are nice, but save money and get a better sandwich at subway. My husband and I went and got two sandwiches, nothing special, it was over $35! Shocking, especially because they aren't even as good subway. I expected a lot more. At subway, you have the option to load your sub up with veggies, at subarama you have to pay extra if you want anything other than lettuce. read more
