I used to LOVE this place a couple years back. Haven't been in a while, but I'm pregnant and was craving it. Will definitely never go again. I have never had more dry chicken in my entire life. The fries were fine, and the sauce was fine! But I genuinely don't think I've disliked chicken tenders more than I did than these. I couldn't eat more than 2 they were so gross. Just very dry and flavorless. We got there about an hour before they closed... which I didn't think was bad. Maybe they were sitting there for a few hours since it was late at night? Maybe they aren't normally this bad?? I don't know! But I spent almost 20$ on food I couldn't even finish. I hate to say this- but I would much rather have krispy krunchy chicken from the gas station I hate to be a hater... but it really was that bad
I've read some of the reviews about freshness and undercooked chicken, but I didn't experience that with my visit. I got the buffalo chicken fries and was quite impressed by the crispness of the fries. You can tell that they lightly coat the fries in something to make it crispier. The chicken was also perfectly cooked, with the sauce not being overpowering. Loved that the bbq sauce wasn't too sweet, but the habanero could be a bit spicier. All in all, it was delicious. From the custom made stools to the vinyl printed designs on the wall, they put a lot of thought into the branding.
First time here. On a road trip and got off interstate 5 to eat. Service was very good and gave some good recommendations. Had the Mimi's southern bbq, good flavor and tenders not dry. Worst thing was not being able to put it down for fear of it falling apart. Other order was chicken tenders and fries. Also cooked well with good taste. The place has indoor and outdoor seating. Place was clean. Hope to stop again on next drive through.
The chicken shack portions are HUGE! If you want a side then you may want to reconsider...one of the sandwiches and a side could easily be enough for 2 people. The tenders are HUGE as well. It was very good chicken and had a nice breading- not super thick. Brussels sprouts were crispy and yummy. My daughter loved the homemade barbecue sauce. I took the rest of my chicken with me and ate it for breakfast since our hotel didn't have any. My daughter took her remaining tender and ate it for lunch on a wrap. Fried pickles were the only thing that weren't a hit- they were too salty...maybe it was the batch of pickles if they weren't as salty they would have been good. Didn't matter too much cause everyone was too full of giant chicken sandwiches to eat them anyway. We also love chickens...so we enjoyed the chicken decor
I was pleasantly surprised by the whole experience. Normally in Redding the food scene is drab and disappointing. The staff was friendly and prompt. The establishment was clean . We sat down and our food came out hot and fresh. The potions were pretty large, I couldn't finish my sandwich and my wife was struggling w/ her cheese fries. The garlic fries are a must. Great flavor and crispy. The chicken on the sandwich was hot and juicy. Great experience, will come back.
Always look to try places we don't have back home and found this place and had to give it a try. This location is cute, but small. They do have outdoor seating as well, but it was a bit hot for us for that. The menu is decent, they have sandwiches, loaded fries, tenders, salads and family meals. We tried a few options and everything looked beautiful, the salad was good (sauces and dressing were good), and the fries were good, but we felt the chicken definitely needed some more spice. The service was good as well, super friendly and gave us time to check out the menu. If you're in the area and like chicken, it's worth trying.

I got the Mother Clucker not only for its name but because if chicken and waffles and biscuits and gravy had a baby topped with an egg blanket and some bacon strips, it would be the Mother Clucker. It was so delicious that I almost didn't want to share even with the offer of some Mimi's Southern BBQ which is good but not as epic as that Mother Clucker. My first time having fried pickles and all I can say is for someone who does not eat fried very often, I sure went all out and it was worth it!!
Back again! This place never has let us down. The wings- spicy Korean style are so tasty! Plus the chicken and waffles are super good too coming with the gravy, syrup, and spiced butter. Can't wait to come back! Plus the service is good and speedy. Plenty of seating each time we come.
When I found this restarurant, I could not wait to try it. We had been on the road all morning and finally it was our lunch stop. There is indoor dining and two major areas for outdoor dining. Just in front of the "front doors" is the shaded outdoor dining. Or around the corner under the sun were two other tables. I ordered a Mimi's southern BBQ. The first thing I must note, is that your food is served on corrugated cardboard, this is to prevent the waffle from getting soggy. It also causes sauce and crumbs to get trapped on the valleys, which could be a bummer. I found teh BBQ sauce to be sweeter and only a little tangyness. The flavors were great, and eating the BBQ chicken with fried pickles and garlic fries was delicous. I also ate some of the Mother Clucker, which is like chicken, biscutts and gravy. This sandwich suffered the most gravy loss due to the corrugated slats, but just as tastyt as the BBQ. Next time I hope to try the "O.G. or Buffalo Blue with loaded Buffalo or Disco fries!!!!
We stopped here for a quick bite while on a roadtrip and were glad we did. The chicken shack is appropriately named, but does include both indoor and outdoor seating. There is chicken artwork throughout. We ordered the Messy Bessy (chicken fried steak sandwich), the Mimi's Southern BBQ (bbq chicken sandwich on waffles) and the Cheese Fries (loaded fries with cheese). Everything was really good, I especially enjoyed the loaded fries. The service was friendly and the food came out quickly. read more

Tried this place again to see if it was a fluke and it most definitely was not. Got the bbq habanero fries again and they were huge. Generous amount of everything and it was really good. The batter on the chicken is so crunchy. Friendly service and a clean place. read more

I had a terrible experience today, I walked in ready to order and the girl taking my order didn't welcome me and didn't even let me know if she was ready to take my order just stared blankly with a rude expression. I then proceeded to order and I couldn't even hear her talking so I wasn't sure what she was asking so I just smiled and went along with it. She never asked if I wanted anything else or if I wanted a drink, she hardly even acknowledge me. After I payed there was a long line and not once did she smile at a single costumer. i sat and wauted for my order and recieved glares from her which made me extremely uncomfortable, she qas very rude and would not stop staring. she then brought the food to me and walked away without saying a word. i do not want to go somewhere where i do not feel welcome let alone made umcomfortable. the service was terrible due to one girl. March 14, 2023 - en route to Arizona. It was raining today on a BIBLICAL level. I was hankering for fried chicken for an inexplicable reason. It was a sleepy Tuesday afternoon so we were greeted immediately by the friendly young lady at the register. After explaining our first visit, she had suggestions from the menu. I settled on the entree: buttermilk fried chicken on bacon-cheddar-chive waffles with gravy, brown sugar butter, and bourbon maple syrup. One waffle received the brown sugar butter, bourbon maple syrup, the other was pure gravy fun. A random patron who was in the middle of a Grub Hub run chatted me up while he waited then awarded me the "kind listening ear reward". A just like that we had consumed our meal, and needed to keep truckin' to Arizona. read more
Have eaten here several times since moving to Redding last summer. Sort of a guilty pleasure. The chicken strips are my go to even though every time I say I am getting a chicken sandwich "next time". Just gives me an excuse to come back again! The chicken strips are meaty and crispy. The fries always come out hot and tasty. A nice selection of dipping sauces and the counter service is always friendly. They have indoor and outdoor seating (but being new to Redding I am still adjusting to the weather, especially the summertime weather, so even with the misters have taken a pass on that. This was my first time trying chicken shack. I got the loaded chicken fries and a fountain drink. My boyfriend god the 3 piece tenders and fries and a drink as well. The place has this cute wall paper of framed chicken an and roosters. The music was good and so was the service. The two blonde girls that worked the front end did a great job handling the little rush that happened before we had gotten in. I unfortunately didn't get their name but they were very apologetic with the rush and making sure we got our food on time! read more

Absolutely horrible! Three times in a row we were delivered uncooked food soaked in grease. You can actually see the pink juices running out of the chicken yet they won't stand behind their food and neither will Grubhub! Uncooked chicken is a food safety issue not a personal preference issue. We were asked to give them another chance after our last order arrived undercooked and bleeding so we did and now they won't stand behind their food. Another $20 wasted. There are plenty of better and safe options for chicken and until they fix their quality and safety issues we won't be back. I deleted the Grubhub app as well since they all they'd offer is $5 off the next order. Be better Chicken Shack! read more

Have gone to this place about 5 times . I LOVE their honey mustard bird chicken sandwich ,so damn good ! . To top it off their French fries are cooked in this bread oil that gives you a different taste of fries . The cooks are real nice and the customer service is great. Food is 4-5 stars, but the person who took the order was not so hot. The wife was browsing Yelp for something to eat while on our mini vacation and came across the Chicken Shack because they offer keto tenders. Interesting to say the least so I called and asked about them. Apparently they have a Parmesan crust and some other ingredients. Either way, I assumed it was keto enough and placed the order. After picking up the food, and being made aware that we had actually ordered tenders & fries, I noticed they had pork rinds. I asked at the counter if getting pork rinds instead of fries was even an option and they said yes. The wife was the one looking at the menu and should have told me about the pork rinds, if I'm calling you to ask you about the keto tenders and the ingredients, then I'm probably interested in keto right? Too bad two and two didn't add together for the person taking the order and we weren't given the option of substituting to pork rinds instead of fries. Which obviously we would have done. Either way, the fries were average, nothing great but nothing bad. Like skinny in-n-out fries. We just ended up tossing them. We also got a grilled chicken salad that was very good. It was nice and fresh We asked for ranch for all of the dressings including the salad but instead were given the agave mustard. Again, sugary substitute from what was ordered. It also didn't show on the ticket as substituting ranch so I'll blame this one on the person taking orders also. Then they also placed the ranch dressings inside of the box of tenders. What do you get when you have hot, deep fried chicken tenders in a closed box and toss in cups of ranch? Hot ranch! Yes! Who would have thunk it? I would also recommend opening boxes as soon as you get your order as their boxes are not vented. That means your once crispy tenders turn soggy by the time you get home since there's no vents to release steam. So all in all, the food was good, but the kitchen and front counter not so smart. Not sure if it's an issue with training or just lack of care, but I would still recommend this place based on the food alone. Portions were huge also if you're into that fat keto thing where people say calories don't matter and over eat protein. If you order smart and make sure that you take the carelessness out of the equation, I'm sure you'll have a better time. read more

For the record their fried pickles are in sandwich slice shape. I prefer fried spears, but the balance in these was really good. Eat them fast though. Not as good cold. The salad was epic. Took leftovers home. The counter was great service. I lingered a bit and nobody made me feel unwelcome and the vibes were warm and welcoming. The wall seats even have bars for your feet so they don't dangle. Super comfy. read more
They have a really nice set up there. It does get hot outside, but they have a mist system to help with the heat. Food was good. I personally enjoyed eating the mother clucker. It was delicious and very satisfying. I wish I knew who the cluck crated it???? The place was busy which speaks for the quality of the food. read more
