Long over due review, but this is our favorite sub shop. You can't beat the value you get and you definitely leave full and satisfied. We usually share a sandwich on most days but also like getting our own for left overs. The staff is always super helpful and quick service. I love how the inside has pictures of local teams and sports. Come here to support local! Oh and they do catering, huge sandwich trays, great for anything!

This is a great locally owned business. My partner frequently visits but this was my first time. The sandwich was filling and made with fresh ingredients. I chose the kids meal with the 3 inch size and was very satisfied. In the past my partner and I would split the larger portions. The price can't be beat. We spent less here than at a fast food place and the quality is so much higher. If you're looking for a great lunch you won't regret stopping here.

Amazing! Are you kidding me? I've been going to chain sub shops when this superior sandwich shop is just 15 min from my house?!?!?!?!? My brother put me onto the Best Sandwich Shop in the valley! The price is right, the sandos are huge, the freshness is on point, the bread is outstanding, even the packaging is impressive. I got a large #4, they automatically know I can't finish this bad boy, so they wrap half of it up to go! Genius! I don't have to go to back to the counter for a paper wrap or bag because they Know I can't finish it. Definitely the best sub shop in Merced County! The girl at the counter is awesome! The decor is fine, it's a sandwich shop, who cares about decor if the sandos are huge, delicious and priced right. They have a bunch of tables inside I didn't see a bathroom in there, but I carry hand sanitizer so maybe bring that if you're like me. 5 stars for sure! Best sandwich I've had in a long time. Go here!!!

Best Sandwich Shop IN TOWN!!!!! The service is awesome! They will always greet you when you walk in and make you feel welcomed. The inside is very chill, cozy and super clean. Sandwiches are very fresh and packed with meat and will not disappoint you! PLUS they serve the sandwiches fast hardly any wait time! I will be visiting this place very often with my family! Awesome, friendly service. They pack the best sandwich for my 5 hr road trips to Southern Ca--keeping it from NOT getting soggy...the "mom's" touch for sure. The best sandwiches hands down. Fresh bread, fresh veggies, in-store sliced meats! Every sammatch I've tried has been tasty! And they're one of the only restaurants that have Pepsi on tap. Great place to grab a simple lunch or sandwiches for a picnic. It gets busy during and evening rushes, but the service is fast and the food good! I recommend getting your food to go, because finding a seat during peak hours can be hard! read more

I ordered a full size roast beef sub which I think they claim is 12", but it actually seemed like it was more like 14". The ingredients were fresh, and they were not cheap on the meat like other sandwich stores. The sandwich was good and the size was good. The reason I did not give it a full five stars is because the sandwich was ordinary. There was no signature condiments or anything about it that separated the sandwich from one from another location. It was still definitely good, but to be great you have to be different. I will be eating here again though. read more

Not a an especially nice or trendy place but their sandwiches are what the chain sandwich stores pretend to be. The sub shop prepares a sandwich like a man would at home. With healthy portions of the best part; the meat. The chains bury a couple of thin slices of meat in lettuce and veggies but not here. Come to the Sub Shop for no frills real deal sandwiches. read more

this is one of the few places in atwater that has a yelp review of it, so i convinced everyone at work one afternoon that we should check this place out for lunch. we ordered different subs - i had the turkey foot long - and while i didn't mind mine too much, everyone else were disappointed. my boss (eek!) was disappointed that the pastrami wasn't hot and fresh and the sauerkraut was dry. i'm not a big eater - they tease me that i eat like a bird - but i polished off a foot long with little problems. the staff here seem nice enough and definitely seems like a family-run, cares about the community kinda shop but i don't think i'd recommend 'em. read more

Go here, you will love it. Subs are fresh and loaded. Everyone notes the bread is the best. Getting a footlong meatball today, expecting simple perfection. Tables have director chairs, space is kind of limited and can get pretty packed. Decorated with local school sport photos. A long lasting gem of the town. read more

The Sub Shop in Atwater is THE best sandwich shop in town, hands down! Better than Togos, Jantz Bakery, The Almond Tree; and puts Subway to shame! The highest quality sandwich meats and cheeses are used, the bread is fresh and soft with just the right amount of bite to the crust and all the veggies are farm fresh! The prices are great, a real value for your money. The staff is friendly and courteous and very professional, the owner is a real gem! If you haven't tried them yet, what are you waiting for? Update: Original owners sold this place to new owners, around 2-3 months ago. Jury still out...I'd say 'okay' but I feel like some corners are being cut. Bread size, fillings,..........not sure. But I hope not cuz this has always been an Atwater gem, a ton of bang for your buck, hugest most meatest sandwiches for under $8.00..But, very nice and accomodating. Give it a try. read more

Hands down, best subs I've EVER tried! The place physically isn't bad, but could use a makeover. But the subs...OMG those are top quality. The ham & turkey and other meats are always fresh. Man this brought back memories. Ok Turlock use to have one don't know what happened but in Atwater I found one I couldn't believe it. Big sandwiches taste great. Polite staff great service. The turlock sub shop about 20 years ago lol had more meat but this one portions are good. In my opinion this is better than Subways because it's on a big roll and just taste great like a homemade sun sandwich should. Simple and great tasting. I will return..you just gotta try it. Straight up honest. read more

If you like Subs but want a bit of a deviation from regular fares, this place is probably worth your shot. Fresh ingredients, patient customer service by happy-looking people (you need to be happy too, or else you will end up paying $10 'grumpy' charges), and prompt service. Perfect stop for a healthy sub. The only thing they may improve on is their food handling. If you are as curious as I'm and peer through the plastic 'veneer' guarding the sub-making bench behind the counter, you may find them - as I did - handing food without service gloves on. Otherwise, highly recommended. read more

The best subs in town!! I have been coming here since I was 8 years old and I keep coming back for a reason! Super friendly staff always waiting to accommodate you in a clean setting. Plenty of relaxed seating allows you to fully enjoy your sub over the daily "Signal" or just enjoy your companion. Subs are loaded! Piles of thinly cut meats, rich cheeses, and an array of fresh veggies makes these subs irresistible. Fresh soft breads also join a few hot sandwich options. Easily the best sub shop in the area, forget Subway, Port of Subs, or Quiznos, sorry if I forgot any others. They hook you up with loaded subs with fresh ingredients, and come by on Sundays when it's "Buy 2 footlongs, get 1 FREE". Also, look at the reviews!!! I gave them a chance and should of took my money elsewhere. Hope the city shuts them down for other crawling things i seen. The main disappointing factor was the nasty attitude and long black hair in my sandwich. I called to ask for another sandwich and they said no. I love this place so much. I've been going here since highschool and I love it so much as well as the community. Best sandwich shop by far. Delicious ingredients, wonderful owners and workers, and awesome rewards system, also they are very inexpensive. You save way more eating here and your sandwich is LOADED and put on delicious bread. I always get turkey and pepperoni with mayo, mustard, lettuce,tomatoes, avocado, cheese, pickles and pepperonchini plus salt and pepper. I wish I could give more than 5 stars. Delicious food, quality ingredients, friendly staff, wonderful party trays!! We ordered our assorted sandwich trays a few days ahead of time, Elizabeth had no problem coordinating our assortment of sandwiches with the variety we requested - everything was made fresh and ready on time. Sandwiches were delicious and just perfect - down to the color coordinated toothpicks with attached labels to identify our selections. Friendy owners and staff. Good sandwiches on very fresh bread. They have always been able to help me with luncheons (planned and last minute).
