I had the best service for getting new ski boots and adjusting my insoles. JR and Otto were incredibly knowledgeable, friendly and patient. They spent 3 hours with me and even adjusted my insoles that had been made incorrectly by another competitor. I had gone to three different boot fitting appointment with this other company and didn't realize how lacking those appts were. Sturtevant's was by far the best and took the time to address every single adjustment and find a boot that meets my needs. I wanted to send a thank you to Mark at Sturtevant's. We bought a pair of kids performance skis and boots for our skier son. We learned on the hill that the binding brakes were not right -- too narrow for the ski. Mark recognized the problem and my concerns about safety if the break arms were bent to "fix" the problem. Had not been to a Sturtevant's in over a decade! I honestly didn't even realize they were still around. Was in the market for a new tennis racket + outfit ( obvi!) and had struggled to find just the right one. Good ol Yelp came to the rescue and helped me realize that the store I frequented as a child for all my Tennis needs was still around! This location is two stories and they have a ton of awesome inventory! I spent a bit more time in the clothing section looking at the awesome apparel. They have every type of brand and have some awesome summer sales going on. Really cute tennis skirts in every color. Their racket inventory downstairs is great. I ended up not buying one because I wanted to sleep on it. But considering it's all I've thought about since leaving, I'm taking the plunge! Staff upstairs in retail is awesome. The young guys downstairs need a bit more training on customer management as they were a bit brief when we had questions on their rackets. read more

They sell lots of cool ski and winter stuff. You can find many brands at different price range. But what it makes them different is their service. They are super attentive, patient, friendly and knowledgeable. I love coming here for winter gear and getting advice on new stuff. Whenever I have a gear problem or doubt, they will help me solving it pretty fast. Last year I was looking for ski boots and they would gladly spent an hour looking for the right ones. They even were willing to locate ones in another store. This year I had a problem with another pair and they helped me diligently with screws and fitting. They will always have time for you. You can feel they work as a team and get advice from one another :) I would obviously recommend them above any other store. read more

After looking through the outer wear selection for ski wear at Nordstrom to no avail, the salesperson suggested sturtevants. I've never heard of it, but the salesperson said they have a way better selection and are cheaper than other places like REI. My friend from Seattle knew of it, so we checked it out. At about 6pm, the place was packed with people returning rentals. I was there just to buy new ski pants, so I headed towards the racks of clothes on the opposite side of the store. They didn't have a really large selection of pants, only a few styles in each size, but I found one that fit, and since I was skiing the next day or something crazy, I was desperate. I've never skied in jeans, but I can't imagine it would be very pleasant lol. My ski pants cost me about $150.... but I was desperate, remember. I glanced through the jackets, which were as expensive or more for brands like Spyder and north face. I can find better deals elsewhere if I had the time. Oh well. I think the store itself needs an update or renovation. It felt dinky with the low ceilings and brown carpet. The fitting rooms were also a disaster: clothes and hangers everywhere and even a few pills on the floor lol yep. I don't think I'll be back. I'll plan my trips a little better and make sure I'm always prepared with ski attire for impromptu ski trips :) read more

Was in need of new snowboard boots and very glad I came here. The young salesman was very friendly and didn't show any reservations about fetching boot after boot to find me the correct fit. Bought them and rode for a week before realizing they weren't stiff enough and they let me exchange them through their 'performance guarantee'. Basically they're gonna make sure you like what you get. Other stores give you a week to change your mind, these guys give you a year. The only store with a better policy is the big three letter outdoors shop whose snow department has less selection and aren't as helpful. Definitely gonna be coming back here for snow stuff. read more

I'm a beginner snowboarder (learned last year and went up 3 times) and fell in love so I figured it would be more cost effective to purchase my own gear for this year! Sturtevant's has a rental program, but after doing the math it's still cheaper after 3 years to purchase your own gear so I decided to buy, but I came in not knowing ANYTHING. I've never been into snow sports so I literally started my conversation with 0 knowledge. Taylor was with me for about 2-3 hours explaining the pro's/con's of boards and helping me try on boots. At the end I felt very confident with the choices I had made and now that I've had a chance to take the gear up I can say I'm very happy as well!!! The employees here will really take their time to find the best option for you and I felt it was a really easy experience- especially for someone who is new to all of this! Taylor was very knowledgeable about each one of the boards I asked about (without having to read any of the specs) and I found everything he told me about my own board to be very true. Not only that, but he also set up my bindings and taught me how to change them! Overall a really great experience, I would highly recommend Sturtevant's! Have bought lots of equipment from these guys. Their service, selection and attention to detail is awesome. Last thing I purchased mid season was some new custom boot footbeds (w/heaters) and the custom Intuition liners. These were all expertly crafted by boot tech Jonathan who did an amazing job. He spent all the time I needed to give me an absolutely beautiful fit, even with a follow ip tweak on them. it is a little spendy but worth every penny. These guys have it all and are so customer focused! I went in after waiting many years to switch out bad fitting boots; so glad I did! However my first set of boots were too tight - I had them fixed but still had pain and issues being in them all day. Going vertical was fine but standing and walking over time became too painful. As an instructor, I need performance but also high comfort. Eventually Ryan pinpointed my issue which was I needed one size up, and from there I've been so comfortable!! It would be great to love the place, it seems good overall. BUT, I went into make a CRITICAL purchase of expensive backcountry ski boots. I asked for the BEST person I could talk to, and I was given a highschooler. I kindly asked to speak to one of the older people with more experience, saying, not to be offended but I just needed to speak to someone more knowledgably. I was told this man had all the experience necessary. I proceeded to buy an expensive pair of boot with his recommendations, trying on boots, and feeling unsure if the boot I was picking fit me properly. I was assured it was just right. well, I have seen 5-6 boot fitters since, including going to Sturtevant's two more times for boot fittings. I have had custom foot beds, and changed out the liner, and it is IMPRESSIVE how bad this boot continues to feel after that. Those boots hurt so bad, I can barely go a resort day, and I have had to bail on a backcountry trip because my feet couldn't handle the boots. I basically just threw money into the trash, as I will need to spend that SAME amount of money on a new pair of boots without waring out the old pair... My story might just be a one off experience, but do beware.... read more

I came into this ski shop with the intention of browsing some snowboarding gear. I was an amateur, so I had a lot of really basic questions. I didn't even need to ask most of them because Colin C. was so knowledgeable and professional that he covered everything I imagined. He was incredibly patient with me, walking me through the basics of the gear so that I understand for what exactly I'm paying. Initially, I did not intend on buying anything, but Colin set me up so well with the equipment (boots were a perfect fit and felt great, board looked awesome and straps were ergonomic) and worked so hard, all while they were extremely busy on a Sunday afternoon, that I just had to buy my first set of boots, straps and a board. I can't say enough good things about this location and business! Two weeks ago I stopped in and spoke to Colin since he was their expert on splitboard configuration and everything in general related to splitboards. I had questions about my Nitro Doppelgänger I bought from another local shop last season in Whatcom County and Colin recommended I bring my board in next time I'm nearby. The following week I came back with my board and Colin fixed what was wrong (wasn't put together properly and showed me a few other things). After spending 30 minutes making adjustments and correcting configuration mistakes I made since the other shop never bothered to help set up the board, I asked how much I owed and he said don't worry about it. I was more than willing to pay for the service and decided to buy some new Hestra leather insulated lobster claw gloves (highly recommend). I am a fan. I rented boots the first day of a week long ski trip from Hawaii. They didn't fit right and I got a serious blister. The Sturtevant's was recommended. I went to their Belleview store and met Brent, I think, who is a master fitter. He fitted me for an hour and got me into some boots that in spite of the blister, allowed me to do Alpental for the rest of the week.
