So I came here due to multiple recommendations from coworkers of mine. I showed up with my hair in a messy bun pretty much tangled from all the blonde in my hair that had just become overly dry. It was so dry and long it would sometimes start to dread up in the back of my head after a couple of days. Sometimes when I wore it up on top of my head it gave me a headache from being so heavy! When I first got here Brittani was finishing up with her previous client, thenh she proceeded to clean her station letting me know she'd be with me shortly. I sat in her chair and showed her a picture of the style that I wanted which was a lot shorter than what I currently had. Explained to her that I would like it a little bit longer than the woman in the pictures since my hair is curly and it tends to bounce up when I wear it that way. She started with a dry cut just to get off all the unwanted length. It was so relieving saying goodbyes to all my dry dead ends. Then she took me to the sink and washed my hair before she started the actual cut. When she finished with my wet cut she and Katie (the receptionist) tag-teamed blow drying my hair. They made me feel like a rockstar! Brittani then proceeded to go back in and find tune all the details to make sure there weren't any stragglers. She also flat ironed my hair and once again proceeded to take some bulk out of the back. I really appreciate how much Brittani pays attention to detail. I have very coarse and thick hair and I get nervous letting people I don't know cut it. She was truly amazing and far surpassed my expectations. She did not rush in the least bit. Even when her next client showed up she made sure my haircut was perfection before she let me out of the chair. I highly recommend Brittani, she is a hair genius! read more

I have to update my review because my opinion of this place has changed 180 degrees. After speaking with the lovely owner Kristi after my last mediocre visit, she encouraged me to come back because she wanted to change my opinion! I got a shellac manicure done, and couldn't be happier with it. The staff was just as friendly as the second time, and they made sure my experience was wonderful-- even sending me home with a few little treats!! Today was my first root color, full foil & cut with Erin Parker at Studio B. I had severe quarantine hair..horrible root growth, super over grown, dry, damaged (box color yikes!). After being with the same hairstylist since 2003, trying a new stylist was a risk I'm am so incrediblyhappy I took!! The facility and staff were great and Erin far exceeded any expectations. Simply amazing! The color and cut are flawless! She not only brought my hair back to life, but she brought me back to life feeling fabulous with my new look. I found a new home!! All I can say is wow. A group of 8 of us came in for hair/makeup for my sister's wedding and all walked out of the salon feeling amazing. Each stylist/makeup artist took their time and listened to our wants and needs. There were a total of 5-6 different gals working with us and each was professional and very skilled. I waited to write this review for a few days Bc I never like my hair after its cut because it doesn't ever look like me. I have curly thin hair that is more wavy and blah when it gets past my ears, but I dislike short hair on myself Bc I have very defined features and feel like most hair cuts make my chin or my nose look too butch. When I moved to ri last mo, I was already overdue for a haircut- it was almost to my shoulders making me look like a 1970s male porn star, minus the mustache. I called a few salons and studio b was close and they said they had a "curly hair specialist." I brought her two pictures of the direction I wanted to go in. I'm sure stylists have mixed feelings about that but I am pretty difficult to cut Bc I don't know what I want so much as what I don't, so in my case, I felt it might help. So now that I'm looking on my recently slept in wet hair, I can say I'm truly pleased. Courtney did a fantastic job avoiding the UES 30 something jew fro I'm always worried about getting (you know the one). It even has style and she didn't try to sell me any fancy product, which is a bonus. I'm sure I'll be more eloquent after I've had breakfast, but I wanted to make sure I reviewed her after looking in the mirror first thing in the morning, when my hair is at its pinnacle of disobedience and therefore, my favorite. Haha. So Courtney's skills were the highlight- she did a 2 day course at Ouidad, which happens to be the salon specializing in curly hair that I went to for several years when I lived in the city. The space here is very nice (exposed brick, ample parking, new everything). The only thing I didn't like, and hate to even write about it Bc I plan to go back and don't want it to be awkward, but feel people should know, was how unprofessional I found the other stylists to be (maybe it was just one, actually): while I was in the chair, another stylist came up behind me and was whispering to Courtney. I couldn't hear/didn't try and generally don't give AF about what people think, but it was mildly uncomfortable. As it was my first time there and I do not know anyone. Maybe it was just about lunch. Maybe it was about salon gossip. Either way, I think it could have been handled a little differently as it did color my first impression and if Courtney wasn't so talented, I would be writing a very different review. read more

Studio B is a charming piece of heaven smack dab in the middle of Garden City. It is directly across from the Applebee's, and has plenty of parking nearby. The salon has a variety of services available, and best of all- is open on Monday's! Yes, Monday's :) I have been searching for a new salon, and hands down know that I found one that I can visit for years to come. Studio B is super cute, has a fun young vibe about it, and the staff are ready and able to go above and beyond for their clients. I went in for an up do and makeup application. Samantha was a skilled artist with my hair. She wanted to see a picture of my dress, asked my thoughts and opinions, and then went to town. She was incredibly friendly, easy to talk to, and gave me an amazing look which was complimented all night long. After Samantha, I sat on the other side of the salon to have my makeup applied by the owner, Kristi. She has an unbelievable amount of experience and is hands down one of the most dedicated salon owners I have ever come in contact with. She too wanted to see a picture of my dress, asked for my opinions and wants, and created a flawless look for my face. She was delicate, her makeup and station was clean, and she even gave me a little goodie bag after I was finished :) In addition to hair and makeup, the salon also does nails and sells beauty products. Studio B is hands down the best salon in RI. Brittani honestly just "gets it" - it's rare to find a hair stylist that can intuitively understand your hair needs. I never know what I want to do with my hair and I really am the type of person that requires low maintenance. Every time I get the chance to book an appointment with Brittani, I ask her what we should do to my hair. She always has so many great suggestions, and she keeps up with the trends (so I don't have to, ha ha). I was really shocked to see the first review, but am so glad Cindy L updated her review since we had such an amazing experience our first time to Studio B. 7 of us girls went in for a spa day after seeing the Groupon they offered. We got shellac manis, blow dry and style and had the choice of either an eyebrow shaping or make up application and... no joke, we all walked out of there looking like celebrities! Usually when you go to a salon, it's hit or miss whether you're going to get someone good or not, but not this place! The owners, Kristi and Steve obviously love what they do and can tell their employees respect them and love working there. Our hair came out AWE-SOME - of the 7 girls, we had 7 different hair styles - everything from itty bitty pixie cuts to long luscious locks -- and they all looked great! Naturally flowing, bouncy, shiny, stylish. very nice. Did I say bouncy? Can't say enough awesomeness about my nails, too! First time I had a shellac mani and doubt I'll ever go back to the old way of waiting for polish to dry. Over a week later and seriously my nails look exactly as good as they did when I walked out of the salon. Great nail shaping, too! I also usually like my cuticles cut and at first was a little skeptical that they weren't cut, but am really surprised and happy to say that they actually look better than going to a nail salon up the street! The oil and whatever else they used made my hands just look and feel soft and very well manicured. Impressed to say the least! Hard to find sometimes. And our make up - probably one of the first times I can honestly say every one of the girls looked better walking out than they did walking in. Kristy did everyone's make up in such a pretty, natural, and flattering way. No vamp-ish dark eye liners or whore-ish red lips like some try to do. Not even thick foundation. I have yet to to find a flaw at this salon and I do not thik I will. I started going here and sitting with Kelly over a year ago. I came in that first time with dry black (out of a box) hair and told my stylist I wanted to be blonde. She never said no, which so many stylists had prior, and after 4 weeks appointments a few months later I was golden blonde. SInce sitting with Kelly my hair has never been healthier- shine, length, and thinckness is back and I know it is due to great services and product. I am no longer blonde but I still make it a point to go in and have Kelly do something new to my head. If Kelly was ever to leave Studio B I would drive to her she is so great. I used Studio B (Kelly) for my hair and my bridesmaids hair. Kelly is the absolutely best!!! My hair looked stunning on my wedding day - absolutely perfect! Studio B was very easy to work with. Kelly and her assistant came directly to the Biltmore Hotel where all of us girls were getting ready. She even took the extra time to curl my clip-in extensions the night before to ensure they would hold. I wore my long hair half-up, half-down all curls and it stayed looking beautiful throughout the entire night... I was so impressed (and shocked!). My bridesmaids hair all looked beautiful (all 7 of 'em) and my 2 flower girls had simple cute braids. Overall, Studio B is one of the best vendors I worked with for my wedding and I would HIGHLY recommend them to any bride that wants hair-perfection on their big day. I was so happy with their customer service and skills, I broke up with my old hairdresser and now go to Kelly! She just did my hair a few days ago (cut and highlights), and again... Just left my regular barbershop to try out a different experience at a salon. I left this place feeling brand new. Sometimes your reg barbershop doesnt have that extra touch that a salon does. They wash and shampoo your hair. Brittani Levesque, the hair stylist did an excellent job cutting my hair and styling it. She was very friendly and knowledgable. I would highly recommend her to anyone. The only downfall was that I wish they had the hair product she used on my hair for sale. It works great but they were out of it. Overall, a great experience. I bought a "Groupon" for a shellac manicure and brow shaping in August. I used it right before my vacation and was amazed how long the manicure lasted. I'm usually the girl who chips her nails leaving the salon. Over a week later and they were still as beautiful as the day I got them done. Koren was great. She was personable and gentle. She paid such attention to detail making sure that there was no polish anywhere but on my nails. I would highly recommend this salon for nails and brows. Went to Studio B for New Year's Eve hair and make up. Couldn't be happier! I had an early appointment (11:30) and was a little concerned that my hair & make up wouldn't last. No worries there! Brianna did my make up. I explained the look I was going for and she nailed it! Samantha did my hair, and she also nailed it! Samantha sprayed and pinned, and sprayed and pinned! Danced the night away!! About 1:30a.m., I was ready to take down my hair and wash my face. Looked in the mirror, and my make up looked as fresh as when Brianna did it some 14 hours earlier. No raccoon eyes and the lashes were still perfectly in place!! Finally got all the pins out of my hair, which also stayed perfectly in place all night, and despite all the spaying, I was able to easily run my brush through it (gotta get the name of that spray!). Koren was great ! Loved my hair! It is a new salon, cool place. A friend of my recommended it. I really liked the place itself, and the products used seemed really high end. My only problems there were that for a high end salon, no one ever offered me a coffee or even water, I REALLY COULD HAVE USED ONE, it was very stuffy and kind of stale hot air there,and it was not too hot outside. Maybe the air was broken. Also I think someone left their lunch out cause there were fruit flies.But i get them at my apartment too this time of year, Kristi the owner was so nice and introduced herself. I was looking for a new place since Ky Michaels has become so expensive and my regular hairdresser canceled appointments last minute. I saw good reviews at Studio B and who doesn't like Garden City? I came in for highlights and a cut. The hairdresser (can't remember her name and she isn't listed on the website) said there wasn't much she could do with highlight because I had used an "at-home" hair coloring product. Every other hairdresser I have gone to for highlights never had an issue. She said she could only use a product to remove color - not highlight my hair. The colors were all over the place! She then did a cut. She knew I liked my hairdresser in Chicago who used a razor to cut hair exclusively. This girl used a brush with a razor in it. It was very uncomfortable. The result was odd for color and unimpressive with the haircut. I will not go back. read more

I am absolutely obsessed with my wedding hair and make up. Kristi is such a talented make up artist, kelly did my hair perfectly-it didn't budge from the wind! My 6 bridesmaids looked stunning (I feel terrible I can't remember the second stylists name). Best thing? They were efficient with their time management!! My photographer (special shout out to Jenn neves, if you are looking for one!) told me many horror stories about stylists not being done in time, which took away from photos before the ceremony. We were expecting to be done with hair and make up by 11 but they finished at 10:15. I couldn't be happier with how everyone's hair and make up came out. I wish I could give them more stars! My hair was in rough shape from too much bleach when we met and she has given me a much nicer subtle blonde and my hair has been growing ever since. She's very laid back and very nice to talk to. My first balayage was great in August 2016 as you can see in pics 1 and 2. I had grown my hair out from coloring all over, which I had stopped because coloring to the root with permanent or semi permanent color was making my hair fall out, and I needed some red from my previous coloring covered on the back mostly, a little on the side. I said not to color my bangs or the front which was brown and grey as I was embracing the grey and was growing it out naturally. Second balayage in December 2016 same balayage procedure, looks great as shown in pix 3 and 4. You can see with my hair up there is some blonde which is from the back and a little from the sides, however you can see the bangs and surrounding hair is brown and grey Had my third balayage in April 2017 and you can see from those pix what happened. I wish I had never gone in for the April appointment. I am 58 and can never get back the hair I had before that day. read more

I had visited studio b before and had an okay experience. I came in the 13th to get my ends cut and get balayage. I had showed the stylist a picture of what I wanted done, more of a caramel color. I personally don't know the technique done for this style so I went along with what the stylist suggested. She had advised that it would take longer to do my whole head so due to time suggested I only do top of my hair. I went along with it she placed foils. The stylist itself was very nice and friendly but she ended up lighting my hair way more than I had liked but I was going to give the benefit of the doubt. I ended up paying 150 to get the top of my hair foiled and my ends cut but what upsets me is that in order to get the rest of my hair done I'd have to pay another 150 according to the front desk. So basically they wanted to charge me 300 in total to get a full foil when their website indicates that a full foil and cut start at 150... i got charged 150 for a partial. I had wanted a balayage style but honestly the parts of my hair that are lighter the color is all over the place. The ends are super light, it gets orange going up its not even at all. I'm going to have to get purple shampoo to see if I can even out the tones. Very disappointed. read more
