Kallen took my black Asian hair into a beautiful milk tea brown. He made sure to get exactly the color I wanted from the picture I provided and communicated effectively with me to ensure the best results. He was also an excellent stylist and gave my bangs a trim up. The overall place was neat and clean.

First time getting a perm and it came out better than expected. Good service and guy definitely knew what he was doing.

They did such a good job with getting my hair to the way I wanted it!

Wonderful staff, and also very attentive to details. My hair was a wreck before my appointment, and they made me fall in love with my hair again!

If you're a brunette who has stubborn, brassy hair and need color correction, I highly recommend V Salon! About a year ago, I had the worst experience with a hair stylist who claimed to be a color specialist. I came in for color correction to get all the brassiness out. She assured me that achieving an ash brown hair color was doable. $320 and 2 days later (a total of over 6 hours), the result was a nightmarish shade of dark blue at the bottom half and brass on top. She blamed her incompetence on my difficult "Asian hair". This was the first and only time I cried after a " professional" hair treatment. Afterwards, I started dyeing my own hair, which looks way better than her work, but still couldn't get rid of the brass. I realized that my entire hair needed to be bleached by an expert and couldn't do it myself, so I did some research and found V Salon. I specifically chose V Salon because one happy Yelp reviewer recommended it for Asian hair. Because of the horrible experience in the past, I was a bit nervous and skeptical. But when Ben mentioned that my hair needed to be bleached and warned me of the damage it will cause during the initial consultation, I sensed he knew what he was doing. He consulted with me every step of the way to make sure I agree with possible outcomes. He even took a few strands of my hair and dyed it to to show me a sample before he colored my entire head. The sample looked too dark and gray, so I asked for a lighter ash brown color and wondered if a little gray or blue would counter the orange undertones. Not sure if he made the actual adjustments, but the overall job was fabulous upon completion! No more brass!!! Take a look at the amazing before and after photos. Will be coming back for a layered hair cut to remove the frayed and damaged ends. Can't wait to see it! Note: As of March 2021, V Salon is only accepting cash. Vincent said their machine was down. Luckily, I just went to the ATM the other day. (A lot of businesses in RI prefer cash, for some reason.) Prices are on the higher end. My bleach and color treatment costs $250, without a haircut. Update: Ben's hair cutting techniques are comparable to the expensive hair salons inside Copley Plaza in Boston that charge $100+ (crazy) but more affordable at only $37 for medium long hair. The layered hairstyles are very detailed and seamless, as opposed to the basic, quick cuts at Supercuts, but for the same price (with shampoo & blow dry)!

From faded yellowy bleach disgusting-ness to silky curls. Completely natural. No spray or after-product too! Thanks, V Salon!

I really needed a cleanup for my hair and my previous stylist lost her salon so I decided to support local small businesses. I called and got in the same day. I was super late to my original appointment because I was stuck in traffic but Ben (the owner) was extremely patient. I have never had someone take care of my hair as well as Ben and his other teammate did. They made sure everything was impeccable and that your needs were all met. They showed me the brand of color they used, which hair color would look best on me and nothing was hidden from me at all. I also love that they showed me hairstyles that would look the best on me and slim my face down (lol). My hair came out fabulous and I am definitely coming back.

    Smoothing treatment results

It was my first time here and I was really impressed with how quickly Ben got me in (I called in to make an appointment). I got the "smoothing treatment" and a hair trim. The smoothing treatment I believe is similar, or the same as the keratin treatment. I have had these done before and Ben did a great job and I did not feel any burning sensations as I have had before with other keratin treatments. The transformation has been wonderful! I have very coarse color treated hair and post treatment my hair is silky soft. I just washed it per the instructions of waiting 48 hours and it is nice and smooth. I speak conversational Cantonese but no mandarin and was able to communicate with Ben. They also speak some English here too. I would definitely come back!

Because I've been pampered and spoiled by being a hair model for the past 10 years, I've become quite selective with who does my hair. V Salon has never let me down. Fair prices, very responsive, and they take such good care of my lovely locks. Also note: I have very thick, fine asian hair -- I understand my hair is a lot more easier to work with so do keep that in mind when choosing your salon.

So this review is way overdue - I got a balayage done back in May. The gentleman who did my hair was very professional and friendly. He went above and beyond to accommodate my requests. This is definitely the spot in PVD to get Asian hair styled/cut. I'm extremely satisfied with the result and get compliments all the time - highly recommended!

I'm on a journey to revive my once curly hair that is now lifeless and stringy due to a bad dye job from a previous salon. From reading the reviews, I knew the stylist at Aruverde were my only hope. When I called to schedule the appt they didn't have any availability for three months. But that didn't deter me, it only spoke to how good the stylist are if they are this booked. So finally, the actual day of my appt arrives and I arrive at the salon only to be warmly greeted by all of the staff members. The salon was adorable, with a high end look but made you feel comfortable. Simony, the owner, tended to my mane. She did wonderful and was very knowledgeable about her craft. We came up with a game plan to get me to my end goal. My next appt is in June and I can't wait to go back and see how my hair has progressed. I cannot recommend this salon enough. These stylist care about the integrity of your hair more than simple fixes or doing a style that will damage your hair. Simony flat out told me that she will never agree to do something to my hair that will damage it and I like stylist that aren't scared to say NO. Give this spot a try, you won't regret it.

They have a cancellation policy which is not uncommon. once when I have canceled before close to my appointment, they called back and charged me on the card. This seems usual for many businesses so it was fine. Next time had an appointment within 24 hours (the next day), but my father-in-law got sick and had to be hospitalized. This was a 911 kind of emergency, the day before my appointment in the afternoon I called them immediately to let them know what had happened -- this is the day before my appointment. Nonetheless next time during my visit they wanted me to pay the cancellation charge because it was within the 24 hour policy as the owner kept insisting ( I called later in the afternoon the day before and the appointment was later in the morning the day after). The owner mentioned that it's not fair to other customers -I'm just wondering where is the equity and fairness issue for a client like me who calked a day earlier and had a Medical emergency to deal with. Irrespective of good products and standard service, this is how unfortunate it was and I don't see the right business policy, personal touch or client oriented attitude in this. That too I was charged the next time I went to see them!!! Wow!!!! I am appalled!!!

I've cut and colored my hair at home for ~20 years between sporadic/infrequent visits to budget salons to fix mistakes (both netting mediocre results at best). I leave each of my appointments at Ello Pretty confident, with healthy hair and a cut designed for low-effort maintenance + sustainable grow-out. I understand that not everybody feels comfortable walking into the space (I don't love feeling like a misfit in a room full of confident babes, either), but once I'm in the chair, I completely forget there's anyone else around; Lauren treats me like an MVP every visit and I genuinely feel like I'm having a conversation with an old friend. Never do I feel judged, nor like I'm boring her or wasting her time. I don't feel forced into uncomfortable small talk since the conversation flows so naturally; she's smart, professional, and sincerely cool. It's worth reiterating that the price of your visit ALSO includes intangibles like active listening. Lauren encourages me to share my ideas, photos, million questions, and requirements before we start. Any concerns, re: texture, length, complimenting my skin or face shape, color, maintenance, styling, etc. are addressed fully and thoroughly, and she checks in with me several times throughout the appointment to make sure we're still headed in the right direction/achieving the results I want, offering me the control to change my mind, ask questions, or fine-tune along the way. Never have I felt so in control of my appearance, nor had as much trust in the person doing the work - she always knocks it out of the park. The wait to see her can be long, so once you're sold, book an entire series of appointments!

I've never had hair problems before I started visiting this salon…read more Disappointed time and time again. I moved from Hawaii and was looking for a salon that specializes in quality hair care and a stylist that had experience with blondes. I did countless hours of research before deciding to come here, and I regret it deeply. I sent numerous photos of my hair, and how I liked how it was- just was moving and was looking to have the same hair highlights and overall color. Every-time I left the salon I was disappointed and felt worse than when I came in. I don't like ashy tones on myself, and every. single. time. I would voice I don't like this color, it's too ashy, and the stylist would just dismiss me and tell me that it's blonde and made me feel belittled to where I felt like my own opinion of my hair didn't matter. I've never left this salon happy with my hair, I've voiced my concern multiple times, but the atmosphere here doesn't feel welcoming if you voice your concerns so why would you want to go back for their "one week" guarantee. Shame on me for continuing to go back, I felt that if I kept giving it a shot maybe eventually my hair would look how the photos of my actual hair was before I moved, but low and behold, my hair is currently darker than my natural hair color.. My most recent visit is the reason for the review, and the reason I will not return, and encourage others to be cautious before choosing this salon. I came for a partial highlight, days before being in my best friends wedding to get lightened up before the big day. What a disaster. Immediately the stylist greeted me and said my hair was green( I disagreed), and asked if I've been in a pool- I haven't, as any blonde knows don't mix your hair with chlorine. She then asked if I had moved, which I had. I then explained that we had a brand new water filtration system installed, as well as a softener but she insisted that the well water caused my hair to be "green" Then we proceed, a few hours later I end up with my hair in a slicked back bun, because they can't get my hair untangled. I was sent home with my hair in a sopping wet bun and told to come back tomorrow. Never in my life have I heard of a salon sending you home and being told they'll fix it later. Needless to say. I went home crying. I called the company that installed our water system, they came out to our house the next day to test our water. Water results came back in, our water Ph, iron levels, etc were better than that of city water... so I'm not sure that my well is to be blamed for how wrecked my hair came out leaving this salon when I've had well water my whole life and my hair never ended up this tangled in my life. I rearranged my entire schedule to come back the next day, they shampooed me, and my hair was dark and ashy... surprise surprise. Disappointed yet again. I went to 2 other highly rated salons in the area to get a consult and another opinion, needless to say they completely disagreed with studio 101 assessment of my hair and did not think my hair had any damage from well water and I showed them the results from our water test. Thankfully I was able to have my hair fixed and highlights put back in from another salon. After paying thousands $$ and numerous visits being disappointed, voicing my concerns- yet being dismissed every time I will not be returning and I would urge others to be wary.
